What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Oy what did you do today?
I build the third implied duck habitat, no im not upset about the lack of ducks in the game, absolutly not!

Jokes aside, i expanded my petting zoo today by starting to build a little yard for domestic birds, featuring a little pond, a sand bath, some rocks and some grass. Very simple, very low key but im sure a bunch of chicken and ducks would love it.
Still gotta finalise the decoration as this is so far just the rough outline and decide where to finish it or if its gonna get even larger, but thats for another time.
In a perfect world, there would be chickens, mallard and/or muscovy ducks and maybe some goose roaming this habitat, but as we dont live in that one there will be a swan, a female pheasent and 2 kiwis for now, but once any domestic bird drops, theyll be sure to make a home in here

Pheasant? 🤔

Did some plaza work today, experimenting with totally ignoring how many pieces I am using to create more realistic parts of the zoo (an unhealthy habitat I know). Made some bins with custom signage on them, circular benches around a tree, a 'digital' modern zoo map info board which also contains information of daily keeper talks and mixing plaza paths with a curving effect to slowly merge into the default asphalt paths for the rest of the zoo. Oh and I have ditched the breeze block trim pieces for foliage planters in favour of those small plaster wall panels. Basically 75 percent of this zoo entrance is just different colored plaster.

Well... I learned a lesson the hard way today with an experiment that ended with me losing 20fps in a zoo in no animals. Custom tiles for indoor shops are a great idea, not too much in actual application since the piece count climbs and climbs and never seems to stop going up.

Heres a picture of what the tile floor pattern looked like, those are thousands of text comma shapes colored to match the gift shop tile pattern that every shop seems to have these days. If anyone can notice, yes im using custom plushies from workshop as I need around 30 species of plushies for realism purposes.

Highlighted section of the tile floor, adding up to a shocking 4285 pieces, times that by 8 sections for the entire shop and... 30,000 pieces for the floor 😂 Even so it doesn't even look that good either since the flat shapes are partly too big and don't look nice when the camera moves vertically.

The improved section of the tiles here is basically the same but all the shapes gone. Looks much nicer to me and each section is only 280 pieces. Having a gift shop with say 35,000 pieces in such a small area is a really really bad idea in the long run especially in a place like the entrance which will have lots of different animal habitat surrounding it soon enough.

Pls, don't do this to yourself, save mental energy and fps 😭
(It looked wonderful though)

I love this so much! The footpath pattern and the custom signage is so lovely.

Today my zoo got a monorail (using ZooF's incredible blueprint). At the moment it only loops around the entrance, but one day it will have stops around the zoo.
I also finished the first section of my zoo: Vietnam! 750+ hours of playing, and I finally finished something :ROFLMAO:. I'm sure I'll come back with some more little details, but now it's on to Indonesia or India :D.
