PSA:
Don't play on patch day and back up your bindings.
Thanks for the reminder about bindings.

On that note, does anyone know if this update will erase/reset the files that hold visited star data? I need that data to create a travel history video when I finish my current exploration voyage.

Also why dp you suggest not playing on patch day? High server traffic that may cause lag/disconnects or something else?

Edit: My bad, its not the visited star cache files that I use to create the travel history videos but the journal files. Still, I don't want to lose access to view the system data for the valuable systems that I discovered.

Visited star data is kept in a file on YOUR pc, back that up with your bindings file as well as anything else of concern, like journals of course, before installing the new patch. It's unlikely to affect those, but it's always better to safe.

Why would an update delete the journal files? There are so many game mechanics that depend on that data, like engineer unlocks or the rank system. Deleting this data would make no sense.

While the journal tracks that data, it's not the source of that data in game, that data is stored on the FDEV servers under the CMDR's account so deleting the journals won't affect that at all, but it would still be mega inconvenient, so back up guys, even if you aren't worried, backup!

They are also useful for determining whether something that Frontier believes fixed might not actually be fixed. And they’ve been intentionally light on spoilers within them, for the last few updates, so it’s not exactly a huge deal.

On my system it is in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\randomishnumber.

Where randonishnumber seems to differ between my alts

Yeah I don't have alts so that's my main game folder :)

I did have a few for the Alpha's and Beta's but I deleted those folders to make space.

So other than AX stuff and possibly a ship I can't try right away (i'm deep in the black exploring) is there anything else that might be in this 30GB patch?
