Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

If you guys could make a single species guaranteed, what species would you choose?
Oh wow, tough question. You know, despite everything I think I would not choose a bird. Don’t get me wrong it’s super close, but it would probably be any species of South American Monkey. So in order of priority it would be this:

  1. Any species of monkey from South America, though Golden Lion Tamarin is high up there.
  2. White faced whistling duck
  3. Waterfowl from NA

Super hard question.

I'm torn between my top 5 South american animals: coati, howler (could be spider), mara and rhea.

I would say the rhea because of how useful and important it is to.my projects but i recognize is not the most exciting choice if we had just one animal to choose from. But is so basic to SA that not having it would make the SA roster feel forever incomplete for me.

I was so torn between duck and monkey, I went with monkey because I thought more people would get use out of them. But man, it wasn’t an easy decision. Easy second place though, if the community didn’t exist as is I would have went with duck. But even I recognize I could use a monkey just that slight but more.

They already have the rig for it. It’s just a matter of reusing it to get the most amount of sales

Roseate spoonbill since saying American flamingo might make a few people upset
I would love to get the spoonbill, pretty bird. It would be cool for a NA bird. I would just find it, weird wouldn’t be the word, but it would be odd if it was the only bird for the continent. It’s just a shame we are at the state of the game where I would feel lucky if the continent I live on got even a single bird. I am not saying we shouldn’t get it!

Personally I would want to do the spoonbill and one other bird (duck) so I can have at least one local bird species. I have been dreaming of doing a zoo made with only animals that live near me. While it is amazing I could do that at all, I can’t do that without a single bird. I know I could physically, but mentally I can’t. I like my zoos being diverse with a ton of different animals, so a zoo that is mostly mammals doesn’t sit right with me normally. Once support ends I will start doing modding, I just normally like to stick with what’s official.

The Golden Lion Tamarin would be my top pick.

Stuff I want by type:
  1. Flying Birds: Pretty much every zoo I've attended has at least one aviary exhibit. Macaws, owls, eagles, toucans, hornbills, lorikeets, and budgies would be awesome.
  2. Primates: Tamarins are a personal favorite and probably the most useful. From SA, spider, howler, and squirrel monkeys are still needed. Africa still needs a classic baboon and some smaller ones, such as the popular guereza, colorful guenons, and maybe a barbary macaque. South Asia doesn't have one yet but has two great options. Over 20% of the playerbase is from China, where the golden snub-nosed monkey is a key species. Those are just the basics. I need a few to build a realistic zoo.
  3. Habitat Birds: Add a duck to what we've got already, and I can pretty much build a realistic zoo, but there is no variety for anything except ratites. NA and SA desperately need birds, there are some popular East Asian ornamental species, and Africa is home to the most requested species. A few more are needed.
  4. Bears: It bothers me to have all but two of them when they're so important to their regions. Also, the ABB with its color variations is my second most-missed animal.
  5. Misc. Small Mammals: SA is desperately lacking them and has some of the best; maras, tamanduas, agoutis, porcupines, kinkajous, and especially the coati are all great options. From other regions, the sea otter and honey badger seem important, and there are others, too.
  6. Small Cats: I know some people are sick of them, but I don't think there is enough variety to reflect what goes into real-world zoos. Servals and ocelots are two common ones. Pallas's cats are a good meme animal and a nice use of the sand cat rig. There are others, but those 3 are the important ones.
  7. Marsupials/Monotremes: I will be sad if there is no tree kangaroo. Echidnas are neat and mentioned on the soundtrack. Rock wallabies, bilbies, and possums also exist.
  8. Caprids: They're probably the most interesting ungulates to build for. I mostly want a markhor, and there are a few others that would be nice.
  9. Deer: Muntjacs are the most interesting option for a new ungulate. There are some other species that would be nice to have, but I don't need them.
  10. Habitat Reptiles: I could live with what we've got, but I keep forgetting we don't have a spurred tortoise. An African croc and Australian monitor are also important.
  11. Canids: I like them, but I think we've gotten the best ones already. There are still some nice options, and we haven't gotten one in a while.
  12. Exhibit critters: Because the game is a building simulator first, these take a back seat for me. I would still like an emerald tree boa and some other important ones.
  13. Pinnipeds: I'm fine with what we've got, but a lot of people want a walrus. There are some other decent options, but they aren't necessary.
  14. Antelope/Other Ungulates: The blackbuck is the only one I see as needed. There are plenty of nice-to-haves, but with the dearth of primates and birds, I can barely care about even the blackbuck.
