Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

I'd personally like the Serval. HOWEVER, the Caracal is pretty similar and already covers a lot of the Serval's range.

Like I said, I like the idea of serval! They are beautiful and common in zoos. But, they are far from needed...
Yeah i like servals aswell, they are cool animals irl.
But in PZ there are many factors that make them not really desirable for me. We have ALOT of african animals, plenty of african predators and the caracal covers its niche while looking a little more unique to all the other cats by not having spots. Plus if we got to have another cat, africa is kinda the last place that should get one imo

By virtue of...being a cat? In that case we didn't need a caracal, we already got the snow leopard.

They aren't similar at all, aside from covering a similar range. The lion also covers that range, so does the cheetah, and both occupy that biome, too. So we didn't need the caracal either, we already had savannah cats.
Then we need the bat-eared fox! Because wild dog doesn't cover the Savannah dog completely. :) Thank you for showing we need the bat-eared fox!

Yes it’s spotted just like some other cats but it’s still unique, mainly because of its legs. If they add some cool jumping animations then the Serval would be unqiue enough against the other cats.

Well SA has the Ocelot which really is the exact same argument not to get in as the serval, it’s small and has spots, and it doesn’t have anything unqiue about it other than the fact that it’s from South America.
NA obviously doesn’t need one I mean bobcat and Canada Lynx do nothing.
Europe has the Wildcat but doesn’t seem likely cause it’s not that popular of a request. Australia doesn’t have any cats and Asia has the Pallas Cat which would be a good addition.

So all in all imo Africa and Asia are the only continents that have both interesting and realistic cats to be added.

For its more that in most other places a small cat would add something to the roster thats not there previously.
EU wildcat would add a climber to europe, any of the SA ones would at a small cat to a region that doesnt have one ontop of adding to a region that needs more animals in general, same for the pallas. Even the fishing cat has its semi aquatic habits going for it. Whereas the serval doesnt really add anything really new to africa imo

Didnt really intent this to be such a discussion so lets just agree to disagree on the need for the serval :D

Indian animal pack?
Mine would be:
-Nilgai/Blackbuck: One indian antelope is a must have in such a pack
-Gray langur/Lion tailed macaque: same here, one indian monkey is a must have
-Zebu cattle/Gaur: Given how important zebu are to indian culture it would feel wrong to not include it, but idk if those are really in zoo so gaur as alternative
-Barheaded goose: Pretty and really common bird
-Honeybadger: Requested animal with big range
-Asiatic Lion: Clone spot and more a model update than anything to be honest
-Red jungle fowl: Personal choice really
-Cobra: Obvious choice for the exhibit
The dwarf or miniature zebu is super duper common in zoos with 137 zoos holding them, most of them in their petting zoo area.
It overall has everything we could want from a new bovine as its:
  • domestic
  • shoulder height of 80-130 cm, making them significantly smaller then the other bovines
  • colorfull with many different coat colors at patterns
  • hump and throat flaps to make them morphologically unique
  • its a "trend" breed, which is continiously spreading in the last 30 years both in zoos but also in commerical use
They also have their origins predominantly in sri lanka so thats neat

I wanted to finish Unity before the new DLC (9 habitats left, but I am slooow and get one habitat per week done max.)
I slacked for a long while, but with the silence going on, the scenario might even be realistic, lol.
If Frontiers state as a company wasn't horrendous, I'd say we're in for something big this time, but looking at the cut corners of the JWE2 DLC... nah.

Similar for me. I kinda wanna finish up my current project since i really doubt any of the next packs animals will fit in there

I know we're talking in circles, I know. I still think Latin America feels rather barebones in the game. No iconic monkeys, no coati, no bush dog, no spectacled bear, no Humboldt Penguin, no guanaco or alpaca, no rhea, and if they're up for it, no iconic jungle birds either. There's still so much from there that we need.

I honestly think there still is potential for nice Arid 2.0/Deserts packs
Yeah I totally agree on that, I was just joking a bit because I think we can agree that an arid pack is certainly not what people are expecting for the next and perhaps (probably) last pack 😅 But I understand that he didn't mean by any way that he wanted an arid pack as a last DLC, just that he could do with some more species from arid regions and I totally agree on that.
It just made me smile because people talking about ungulates already made others react so I was expecting the same kind of reactions regarding an arid pack 2.0 (which already was kind of a 2.0 from the Africa pack).

Given how I would ask for another gazelle, I can see why 😂
Drama Gazelle 2.0

Personally not opposed to another arid pack, but for gosh sakes frontier, if it were to happen don't make it regionally focused. Secretary Bird, Honey Badger, Golden Jackal and Hamadryas Baboon would be okay for African representation, but aside from that, I'd definitely want representatives from other parts of the world. Not that that's not like...half a pack already. Though of course too, some of those pull from Asia as well as Africa.

Is there a chance the pack is announced but just without the steam file being updated? Or if they hid it or something?
Not something they've done before, so I wouldn't count on it. If they were to try it for anything, it'd be the "Secret" DLC, surely.
So like i have been gone for at least 2 months, have i missed anything important?
Nope, no "outsource_lqa" change yet on steamDB, so still more than a month away (latest possible is 31st of May)
