Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

Here's one question for everyone:

If the next DLC is last, is there a version of that pack (not making it into an unrealistic 30 animal expansion) that would completely satisfy you or come close to it? Or do you believe that there are too many holes to be plugged by one pack?
I don't know that I'll ever really feel like the game is "complete" but there's definitely a combination of like, 8-10 habitat animals that would leave me saying: "You know what? We're good. I'm fine with this."

Yeah but there were also just 2 antelope in the top 50 yet we keep getting them en masse, so that really cant be much of a factor
It's a huge factor. The antelopes (and ungulates in general, TBH) tend to pop-up in ways that feel like "filler" surrounding other much more highly requested, complicated animals.

Historically, since wetlands, each pack has had at least one top 3 animal (often times its the present #1) and a few others that are higher up (often in the top 10-15). And the higher-requested animals are usually a bit more unique/complicated so it kinda makes sense that they'd fill the gaps with something a bit simpler.

Hm maybe for me to, but its a combination that has a less than zero percent chance of happening :D

Far be it from me to act like a spoiled child, but I'd be disappointed if the final pack doesn't contain twice as many species as a regular animal pack or if it isn't a mix of an animal and a scenery pack. Here are some ideas for packs that might meet my expectations:
1) An "All over the world" pack with 15-16 species from the different continents prioritizing South America, of course. I really like this idea of a final pack containing a new species for each DLC already released, and I must admit that it would be a good way of looking back over the last 5 years. I would definitely go with 12 habitat species, 2 exhibits and 2 WTE.
2) I could accept a smaller pack (less than 8 species) if it contains flying birds but I don't believe in that.
3) A mix of an animal pack and a scenery pack but for it to work it would require the species to match the theme of the scenery imo. The scenery pack I would want the most is the Native American theme but we already have a lot of NA species and I would be quite upset to finish on that 😬

Fingers crossed for the first option but I think it's a beautiful dream. Whatever comes, I'm still gonna be grateful.

Do you guys think it's possible that DLC is not delayed due to console relase, but completely skipped over?

Not in a sense that support is over, but that next DLC we get is summer DLC?

Heard this idea on YT (Universe Falls is guy's name I think) and while not based on much do you believe it's still probable?

It is confirmed that a dlc is coming by the end of may, the dlc is delayed but definitely not being skipped over unless frontier is ignoring their own financial report which is extremely unlikely.

Probably not summer, but definitely later than usual. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get something until May, so quite possibly another month until things in the steam database really heat up.

Going back to content for the pack that someone else mentioned, I've got my 12 I think I could satisfy me the most, along with a couple of community picks. Mentioned elsewhere but:

Spectacled Bear (my big personal want)
Coatimundi species
Black Howler Monkey
Squirrel Monkey/Patagonian Mara - would gladly take another New World Primate but not sure how likely that is. Subbing the Mara for it instead makes the most sense.
Muskox
Hamadryas Baboon (community want even though I don't care if we get it or not personally)
Secretary Bird
Duck species; Mandarin my preference to give us an Asian bird representative in the pack
Pelican species; Australian my preference to give us an Oceanian bird representative in the pack
Wild Turkey
Chameleon species (E)
Cobra species (E)

That give us 4 more Latin American animals, 4 more habitat birds, 2 of the most requested exhibit species, and 5 of the 7 animals on the list that have had long term significant report (Walrus and Tree Kangaroo do not make the cut)

Of course there's other animals I'd love to see, but taking exhibit/flying birds out of the equation, this checks off as much as I think it possibly could for me, while sticking to 12 animals. if I didn't take community wants into account I'd remove the Baboon and replace it with a temperate Otter, but I think the Baboon needs to be in the lineup.

If Frontier gives us this then I'm more than happy. And if I wanted to make it to 16 (just to double the number compared to a classic animal pack), I'd put the Walrus and Tree Kangaroo that you mentioned but I would also add the Palla's Cat and maybe a WTE animal.

Yeah, with another four species, I'd add in two more WTE animals - Golden Lion Tamarin and a Two Toed Sloth, and then the NA/Eurasian Otter and Tree Kangaroo. Bump it to 20 to get to 200 animals, Shoebill, Scarlet Ibis, Greater Rhea and whichever of the Squirrel Monkey/Patagonian Mara didn't make the 12 animal cut. That would give us 9 more Latin American animals, including the 2 exhibit animals and the 2 birds.

Just can't seem to get that pumped about getting a Walrus, so it ends up being the one that misses the cut each time.

Honestly the walrus and secretary bird is on my list of animals where I’m not particularly ecstatic about them, but if they made it to the game I would be very happy. I don’t usually include them on my lists of animals, but I would never argue against their inclusion.

So lets turn this into a game then:

Make a finale pack that has your ideal 16 animals, arguably the best number of animals realistically.
Then, sacrifice 4 from it and bring it down to 12, the "if we get lucky" number of animals.
Cross off another 4 and bring it down to 8, probably the most realistic number of animals outcome.
And finally the worst outcome, remove 3 and be left with 5, the disaster outcome of the finale pack being a scenery pack.
You must have 1 exhibit animal from the 16 list all the way to the last 5.

Now here is a question, to match what I said above, is there any animal you don’t particularly want but would actually be happy with their inclusion?
Any baboon would fit that description, I don't really have much need for a baboon at all and would much rather an african monkey like the colobus or a new world monkey but would still be happy to receive it as the baboon is one of the few african animals that feels needed.

Lord have mercy on my poor soul. I’ll say my ideal pack is also me trying to be ideal for the community (as in I want people to be overall happy which I know isn’t easy), so be surprised it won’t be all birds.

I’ll also slowly build up from worst case scenario to best, so as things get better more animals are added to the list.

Worst Case Scenario:
  1. Hamadryas baboon
  2. Black howler monkey
  3. White faced coati
  4. Australian pelican
  5. Exhibit: king cobra
Better case scenario
  1. Hamadryas Baboon
  2. Black howler monkey
  3. White faced coati
  4. Australian pelican
  5. Grey crowned crane
  6. White faced whistling duck
  7. Tree kangaroo
  8. Exhibit: king cobra
The even better case scenario:
  1. Hamadryas baboon
  2. Black howler monkey
  3. White faced coati
  4. Australian pelican
  5. Grey crowned crane
  6. White faced whistling duck
  7. Tree kangaroo
  8. Musk ox
  9. Pallas cat
  10. Secretary bird
  11. Scarlet ibis
  12. Exhibit: king cobra
THE GREATEST CASE SCENARIO (if you ask RightWhale) 😘
  1. Hamadryas baboon
  2. Black howler monkey
  3. White nosed coati
  4. Australian pelican
  5. Grey crowned crane
  6. White faced whistling duck
  7. Tree kangaroo
  8. Musk ox
  9. Pallas cat
  10. Secretary bird
  11. Scarlet ibis
  12. Peere David’s deer
  13. Greater Rhea
  14. Golden pheasant
  15. Exhibit 1: Jackson chameleon
  16. Exhibit 2: King cobra
I want to be fair, so this would probably be my preferred outcome, of the 16 animals maybe 7 or so are birds to almost double the amount in game.
