No I would say that’s a good amount of habitat birds, and to be honest that’s what I expected the game to be at when I first bought it in 2019. I just want options, we have it with almost every other animal group. It’s so funny to me how we have the bonobo and the chimpanzee in base game, and since launch we haven’t gotten another pheasant or flamingo species. I appreciate every animal in game, but Frontier’s decisions for certain animals will always be weird to me.For me:
- Musk Ox and Walrus: I like them and kind of feel like they should be in the game as Arctic icons, but I know I wouldn't use them much.
- Mara and Rhea, Blackbuck and Indian Monkey: The animals/options seem necessary for regional rep, but they aren't my personal favorites.
- Hamadryas Baboon: They scare me, but I know I would probably use them sometimes because an arid primate habitat would be fun and different.
- Lagomorphs and domestics: I would be fine either way. I would prefer not to receive domestics as a final pack, though.
- Marsupials other than the tree kangaroo: Beyond my favorite, rock wallabies, bilbies, and brushtail possums with the yellow color morph would be kind of fun.
- Cervids other than the muntjac and maybe wapiti if they get the sounds right, caprids other than the markhor and bighorn sheep: Beyond my favorites, there are a few I'd be happy to see, but I know I wouldn't use them much. Monkeys and birds take priority
- Many birds fall into this category: see below
My habitat bird needs/strong wants only include four species. If I get the grey crowned crane or secretary bird, one of the pink trio, at least one duck (plus some quacking waterfowl mods if Frontier doesn't want to capitalize on their swan rig for whatever reason), and one for temperate North America, I would be pretty happy with the habitat bird lineup. However, I'm fully aware that a good lineup for a zoo game would include many more. Habitat birds aren't my favorite. I don't personally need more than what I listed, but I would be happy to see/purchase a good bird roster. I would imagine a dream bird roster would include (correct me if I'm missing something):
Filling out that lineup would take at least 21 animals, and I only deeply need 4 of them. I would say most habitat birds fall neatly into this category.
- 5 Ratites:
Ostriches, cassowaries, emus, kiwis, and rheas are all pretty important.- ≥ 2 Flamingos: The American and
greaterare the two big ones, but lesser flamingoes and other SA species exist.- 5-12 Waterfowl: The
muteand black swan are needed, as are 3 ducks and perhaps a goose or 2. More would be welcome.- 3-7 Pheasants/Fowl:
Peafowlare the obvious ones. If we get domestics, turkeys chickens/junglefowl, and guineafowl become very important and useful. Asian pheasants are also cool. Capercallies and grouse are two options for Europe and NA.- 4-5 Cranes: The grey-crowned and
red-crownedare the two big ones, but the demoiselle, one of the NA ones, and perhaps Kegu would also be useful for regional rep and to build a good rotation.- 2-4 Storks/Shoebill: I think the European players want their white stork, there are a bunch of cool ones from Africa/Asia, and Jabirus are an interesting choice from SA. I, too, am not a fan of the shoebill, but I wouldn't mind it as long as we got at least 1-2 better African birds.
- ≥ 2 Pelican(s): The brown and great white seem to be the most useful. I would not mind the Australian either.
- ≥ 3 Other Wading Birds: Herons, egrets, ibises, and spoonbills would be fun.
- ≥ 1 Other: Secretary birds are super popular. There are some other interesting oddball picks, such as roadrunner.
- 3-5 Penguins:
King, little blue, and Africanpenguins are great to have. Rockhopper and a brush-tailed species are also requested.
For exhibit birds, I would definitely want/need a snowy owl, eagle/horned owl, burrowing owl, bald eagle, kookaburra, macaws, toucans, and budgies. I would also very much like a falcon, a raven, other eagle species, vultures/condors, lorikeets, a hoatzin, and cockatoo(s). That's a pretty good lineup for flying birds with many popular species. I know there are a few other good options I would welcome, but I don't actively want/miss them.
They did say "and much more" so maybe there will be something (cope)They said it is for console, I’m only gonna expect console. Maybe a teaser if we are lucky but I doubt it.
Bare minum habitat birds for each continent for good Rep:Also having 4 habitat birds is honestly doable, personally these would be my 4:
It would give the Americas its first 3 birds, while Africa also gets some important habitat birds. If we had to be a stickler about it, the mandarin duck could also work to give Asia some more bird representation. Consider the continent already has 3 I would rather give it to the versatile wfwd. Obviously we would need way more than these guys, but if Frontier personally handed me these 4 birds I couldn’t complain.
- Brown Pelican
- White faced whistling duck
- Scarlet ibis/ American flamingo
- Grey crowned crane
It is literally just a PZ console celebration and xbox controller winners announcement lol. They did say "and much more" so maybe there will be something (cope)
I wouldn't expect anything until the april stream at the earliest if frontier is actually wanting to talk planet zoo dlc on a stream. This month is obviously console only despite what we want.Like come on people. These streams so far been divided into 3 parts. This time it will be:
1. F1 manager
2. Elite dangerous
3. PZ console celebration
Nothing special to look out there.
Shoot I like this I’ll give it a shot! My restrictions are only two birds per continent. I’m also gonna try to make use of “clones” mostly.Bare minum habitat birds for each continent for good Rep:
If they even want to, the Jurassic World Evolution 2 DLC got no tease in the February stream. I hope they at least address the secret species pack in the next stream instead of elite or F1, JWE2 players have gotten zero attention in any of these streams so far its kinda sad. But regardless if JWE2 got its DLC randomly I could still see us getting an announcement early to mid April.I wouldn't expect anything until the april stream at the earliest if frontier is actually wanting to talk planet zoo dlc on a stream.
Oh black swan is a good one. I forgot about it. Then yes Oceania gets black swan and crowned pigeon from me.Shoot I like this I’ll give it a shot! My restrictions are only two birds per continent. I’m also gonna try to make use of “clones” mostly.
As the resident bird crazy person of this forum here would be my recommendations for the “bare minimum”
North America:
South America:
- Wild Turkey would be the “boring bird” option for North America. Personally I need it.
- American flamingo would be our resident pink pretty bird
Europe:
- Greater Rhea, might as well get our SA ratite
- Scarlet ibis, I WILL GET MY TWO PRETTY PINK BIRDS
Africa:
- Western capercaillie, to be honest an underrated pick.
- Mallard Duck, a great way for me to cheat and get more NA representation. Also imagine how pretty the European ponds with the mallards and mute swans would be.
Asia:
- Grey Crowned Crane, personally my choice over the secretary bird. I love mixed species exhibits, and I would like another option over the ostrich.
- White faced whistling duck, you all know why I want it. Also a way for me to cheat and get another SA representation.
Oceania:
- Golden pheasant, beautiful in every sense of the word.
- Mallard duck, yes I would like more than one duck. In my dream world we have these three species I mentioned and go on from there.
Antarctica
- Black swan, in my dream world the waterfowl species are the two swans and three ducks. All representing multiple continents.
- Australian Pelican, I know in my list above I wanted the brown Pelican. That’s assuming I can get no more SA/ NA rep, if we get two birds from each continent then I would like this guy.
I recognize I go against what is in the meta wishlist, but these would be my two picks per continent. In total it would bring up the bird biodiversity in game too:
- Only one more penguin, I will go with rockhopper.
And this is what I find most important, here would be the final bird picks by continent:
- 2 Flamingo species (greater and American)
- 4 groundbirds/ game birds (capercaillie, wild turkey, golden pheasant, and peafowl)
- 3 ducks (mandarin, mallard, and white faced whistling)
- 2 swans (black and mute)
- 2 cranes (red crowned and grey crowned)
- 5 ratites (ostrich, emu, cassowary, kiwi, and greater Rhea)
- 1 ibis (scarlet)
- 1 pelican (Australian)
- 4 penguins (king, little blue, African, and rockhopper)
Sorry for another long post, but I think this is what I would envision with my breakdown.
- North America: wild turkey, American flamingo, scarlet ibis, mallard duck
- South America: American flamingo, white faced whistling duck, scarlet ibis, greater Rhea, king penguin
- Europe: mallard, mute swan, western capercaillie, greater flamingo
- Africa: greater flamingo, grey crowned crane, ostrich, white faced whistling duck, African penguin
- Asia: mandarin duck, mute swan, golden pheasant, red crowned crane, common peafowl
- Oceania: cassowary, emu, kiwi, little blue penguin, Australian pelican, black swan
- Antarctica: king penguin, rockhopper penguin
My only guess would be because of the fact that the DLC would upset a lot of people which it did, so dropping a teaser like saying "I wish we could combine 2 great creatures ya know?" or whatever teasing hint like that, would instantly give it away. From that, people would either automatically be disappointed cause its hybrids, or think its new hybrids but later on get disappointed cause its the returning ones, so maybe they just didn't want to build it up when they already knew people were gonna be disappointed regardless.I can understand why they haven’t done much for PZ on pc, due to the console. But what is with the lack of announcement for JWE2? I understand they are getting the dlc, but I mean in terms of FU. Is JWE2 not doing well, with the new movie are they contracted to make a third one? Or do they simply not find it worth it? I recognize I’m biased, but I have never heard of the F1 games or Elite dangerous before joining this forum. So I find it weird that one of their flagship titles isn’t being presented as much,
Yeah I just looked at the threads over on the JWE2 forum. Definitely mixed to mild response. YouTube got a much better response, though apparently the sauropods can not fight back? What’s up with that? I only played the first one and I found that really annoying. Literally animals so big they can crack bones with their tails. My only guess would be because of the fact that the DLC would upset a lot of people which it did, so dropping a teaser like saying "I wish we could combine 2 great creatures ya know?" or whatever teasing hint like that, would instantly give it away. Oh yeah, the Jackson chameleon is probably one of my favorites. I do want the king cobra, but I wouldn’t mind a chameleon! Also can we just acknowledge probably the last key unique exhibit species missing that has literally not been talked about at all, a chameleon?! This might be the only exhibit species I actually look at at release.

Bad enough they have dangerous tails like whips, they had to go the extra mile and give the recent one a tail club and it’s still useless as everYeah I just looked at the threads over on the JWE2 forum. Pretty on brand for jwe actually, or popculture dinosaurs in general where herbivorous dinosaur are portrait as just helpless predator fodder.Yeah I just looked at the threads over on the JWE2 forum. Best part: it has one more positive review than Eurasia Animal Pack lol.Yeah I just looked at the threads over on the JWE2 forum. Definitely mixed to mild response. That is an axe I have always had to grind. It’s the same thing that causes idiots to approach the bison in Yellowstone. Plant Eater is not the same as Friendly.Pretty on brand for jwe actually, or popculture dinosaurs in general where herbivorous dinosaur are portrait as just helpless predator fodder.
