Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

YEA BABY!!!!
I got a challenge, let's talk about the worst outcome possible for a SA pack, only rule is it has to be a scenery or animal pack.

Neotropical Pack
White-Tailed Deer
Tufted Capuchin
Andean Moutain Cat
Kinkajou
(Exhibit Animal) Gray Wall Jumping Spider
(edit: wait we have not been promised a dlc yet 🙃!)

Staying with what i think still is a realistic outcome
-Bear
-Ocelot
-Tamandua
-Guanaco
-Exhibit

My reasoning: While every one of these animals is a perfectly fine addition imo, this constellation is probably the worst one for me (Thats still a realistic one for Frontier to make).
Having no monkey is an automatic dealbreaker for any SA pack in my eyes, and since Frontier seemingly avoids them at all cost i think its unfortunately still possible for them to ditch it in here aswell.
But since we pretty much religiously have atleast one new rig animal in each pack i chose the tamandua here, not because its bad or anything but because out of all the animals that would require a new rig like the porcupine, monkeys and some birds its just the weakest for me.
The bear and ocelot (any cat really) are here because having both of them in this pack would is just the wrong choice ontop of PZs already carnivoran-heavy roster. Having one of them in such a packs i think is all but guaranteed tho.
Lastly the guanaco, i think its also pretty certain that we will see one representative for southern SA in such a pack and out of the big 3 (Rhea, mara and guanaco) its just the weakest choice for me.

Would not be upset with that DLC tbh

I mean there are a lot of animals that are easily the worst for me, even though they aren’t obviously gonna make a pack full of terrible animals. Examples of these would be:
  • Kinkajou
  • Another Capuchin
  • South American Tapir
  • Kodkod
  • Black Caiman
  • Burrowing Owl
However if we’re talking realistically, this would be my least favourite South America pack roster:
  • Squirrel Monkey
  • Ocelot
  • Alpaca
  • Orinoco Crocodile
  • Spectacled Bear
  • Rhea
  • American Flamingo
  • A useless exhibit box animal

Don’t listen to him baby. I love you just the way you are ❤️

As someone from NA the ABB isn't as iconic to me as the Moose, Turkey, Bald Eagle, or Coyote.
As far as zoo animals go? I'll give you the bald eagle... But those three are in no way, shape or form iconic zoo animals in this region.

No. An update to outsource_lqa has traditional been the indicator of a new DLC. Sorry folks.
FWIW, in the past, the internal_01 has only ever been updated (as far as I've seen) after the outsource file...

It’s an interesting creature and I respect whoever wants it, I just personally have no interest in it, maybe because I’m from North America idk, or maybe because it’s a desert bird and I automatically think of the cooler desert birds from Africa. Plus it would be a shame if the first owl we get is this one cause it’s not as known nor useful as other owls that can fly like great horned or snowy.
How dare you lump the kinkajou and burrowing owl in with this riff-raff.
The kinkajou is just- yeah idk it’s just not my thing, it’s like a cross between the fossa and binturong, as far as arboreal South American animals go it’s on the bottom spot.

I really recommend to you to check out the first ever created original 30 meta wishlist, we’ve received nearly every animal from the top of that list by now and that list was created 4 years ago.

In spite of many other wishlists created among the time the structure of animals that did not make it to the game is nearly the same. So I really feel that creating them was not that necessary because the data is nearly the same and frontier may used only the first one ever created to help with planning next DLC’s.

Species from the original 30 meta wishlist that still didn’t make it:

South American Coati
Secretary Bird
Serval
Musk Ox
Walrus
Grey Crowned Crane
Black Howler Monkey
Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo
Blackbuck

Honey Badger
West Indian Manatee
Greater Kudu
Mantled Guereza
Golden Lion Tamarin
Short-Beaked Echidna
Peruvian Black Spider Monkey
Gelada Baboon
Greater Rhea
Pere David’s Deer
considering out of the top 50 on that wish list only 16 are missing and the first one is at 22 being the coati this is seemingly a good sign that frontier is listening.
Also besides the serval and african leopard every single one of the animals in the top 50 coati, secretary bird, musk ox, walrus, grey crowned crane, howler monkey, baboon, markhor, spectacled bear, ocelot, shoebill and honey badger are still frequently brought up as wants.
omg thats so real tho. My mom is an artist and the day of the special livestream for eurasia she painted a mute swan, and back before twilight release she drew a red fox. I keep telling her it is time to start cranking out some art pieces to give me an inkling of what's next LOL
You must share with us the prophetic wisdom when it arrives.

I'm sorry but... This is just a description of perfection. Please try making your case again. :ROFLMAO: (JK. I get you. Haha. But I also fully mean it... They are perfect beings.)
Kinkajou is one of those animals that, in a different world would be a pretty cool animal to add. A little oddball thats pretty different from everything else SA has and a something to add into SA tropical houses or nocturnal houses.
But since SA is still so barebones it just isnt a priority
I'll agree with this. But they're still pretty perfect. Not quite "SA" perse but... I'd rather the ringtail or cacomistle. Kinkajous are still really cool, though.

Speaking of this, what current DLC is the most regionally diverse
my favourite pack of all time grasslands just the butterflies alone span every continent and biome.
So do we now move onto another thread called “Final dlc speculation thread?” Because I don’t see a summer 2024 speculation thread
there is a summer 2024 thread it was made december last year so its probably pretty buried
I should also say, with last years dlc covering every continent. I wouldn’t be shocked if we finish on a larger Americas pack.
Last year really threw me for a loop when they did grasslands and tropical right after each other I though for sure they were going down the biome tags route then arid and eurasia had nothing to do with the tags and if anything made that idea even harder to pull off so who knows if theres a theme anymore.
Would be people be interested in getting a goose? And if so, which one?
I think the general consensus is yes to goose. I want the magpie goose the most.
While talking about birds another one that I think gets under appreciated because of its more bright subspecies, the African Sacred Ibis would be a cool add in for African tropical houses.

I can tell you this animal probably wouldn't get much love from the australian audience since they look incredibly similar to the australian white ibis which is like a cross between a raccoon and pigeon in terms of public appeal

so first you want a mara more than a hyrax and now this, keep an eye put, you might see a hyrax with a taste for blood and a carving knife at your living place.

new idea been compiling a list of what taxonomic areas are missing animals ingame what are your picks for each remaining mammalian order my list is based on what is the most common member in captivity

Eulipotyphla: african pygmy hedgehog
Lagomorpha: european rabbit
Didelphimorphia: Virginia opossum
Afrosoricida: lesser hedgehog tenrec
Scandentia: northern tree shrew
Peramelemorphia: greater bilby
Macroscelidae: round-eared elephant shrew
Hyracoidea: common rock hyrax
Sirenia: antillean manatee
Dermoptera: sunda colugo

none kept that I know of
Paucituberculata: grey-bellied shrew opossum
Microbiotheria: montio del monte (literally the only species in its order)
Notoryctidae: itjaritjari

side note I know some of these are very unrealistic but some of these animal groups have a large zoo presence like lagomorphs and surprisingly the tenrecs.
Im working on doing a breakdown of each order further but just the rodents alone is taking me alot of time all my classification groupings are based on the IUCN since that is what I believe frontier is basing its classification system on and simplifies this idea a whole lot.
