Spring 2024 DLC Speculation

They are very common, almost every bat enclosure I've ever seen has been walkthrough. Including Chester, London, Bristol, Zurich, Berlin.. etc., I'm sure others could add more.
"Walk-through" is a strong way of putting it. But at Franklin Park here in MA and the Bronx Zoo in NYC they have free-flying bats in their tropical buildings. They tend to flit about and perch toward the roof far away from the guests but they have free range.

Yea in my experience, fruit bats/flying foxes will tend to stay back but smaller bats will fly very close to guests.

I don't know that I've been to and/or seen any free-flying bats in a US zoo that aren't fruit bats or flying foxes, though. Doesn't mean they don't exist... I just haven't seen them.
Seba's short-tailed bat are the only one I've seen that are common.

People complain about stuff being unrealistic but now all of a sudden a hummingbird walkthrough is fine because we have other unrealistic stuff? I know these do exist in real life but I feel like when people have suggested this in the past they imagine it being similar to the butterfly walkthroughs but in reality hummingbird management is very tough.

You cannot keep more than one male hummingbird together, they are fiercely territorial birds and will fight. Many of the hummingbird aviaries that exist tend to have only one individual (with breeding behind the scenes if there is any) or be made of multiple species with no breeding. Even so, the famous hummingbird house at San Diego had to be built in a strange shape with enough angles that would stop the birds from seeing each other as much to reduce aggression.

I think hummingbirds would be a nice addition to the game but putting a bunch in a walkthrough like how they are right now would in real life cause a blood bath. I find it interesting how people harp on about realism but for this people don't care lol.
People are so desperate for birds they have gotten temporary amnesia.
In all seriousness I hate the realism argument because all it does is trivialise others wants and something like a hummingbird while not totally realistic would add alot of charm to the game most people have experienced macaws in either real life zoos or other games but hummingbirds are novel.
Bold of you to assume people care about realism outside zootierliste number taken out of context.
thing is people who use zootierliste as their only source of "evidence" tend to care way way way too much about "realism" to the determent of anyone not in the same region as them.
Feels like now if they stick with the pattern of regular exhibit and walkthrough exhibit animals switching each pack and we get another WTE animal, theres only a few that can fit with the system if it’s NOT a bird and they stick with their phobia of feathers.
I wouldnt mind another sloth but it would be a bit boring. I would hate a tamarin simply because I hate exhibits and seeing a perfectly good monkey turned into a glorified prop would anger me. A large snake or turtle might be a good option for wlakthroughs.
I dont think they are alternating rather using walkthroughs for scenery packs and regular for animal packs since walkthroughs bolster the smaller roster better and work better with scenery.

really the only times I have seen bats have been behind glass in night houses. It was a real culture shock to see them in walkthroughs at first and I basically never build them as actual walkthroughs.

I mean, it's "late" in that the spring DLC has regularly released the week of Easter. But Easter is usually later in April so... Technically, I guess it's still not "late" but there's a very good chance it will be announcing/releasing much later than we are used to even from a date perspective.

But I'm 100% convinced that it's all by design because of the console release and it's not actually late.
exactly this its not actually late or delayed it just isnt releasing when we expected because console released in that window.

I would take sloth.
Its the only relevant option and the only one, which can actually happen. Better than another SA snake, frog or whatever.

If we did get feathered friends for a walkthrough exhibit, and it wasn't hummingbirds, lorikeets, or macaws, those being the front runners from what I've seen, i would love to see either Bee-Eaters or Weaver Birds. Weaver Birds are insanely social and we could have a massive colony. But if sharing space with multiple species is the sticking point, bee-eaters have been kept with multiple bee-eater species in the same aviary and had no problems.

I don't want to personally believe it,
but do you think it's very likely PlanetZoo will meet the same fate as Jurassic World Evolution, which didn't get any flying animals neither aquatic ones
but after console they will announce new version (like JWE2) with new system for animals (herding, hunting, socialisation, unlocking a possibillity of a safari) AND flying and marine animals?

I would not want that tbh, I thought JWE2 happened bcs basicly JWE1 ran out of space/ideas how to expand the game with that previous system. But PZ has still a lot of space for possible expansions. New maps, new wishlisted animals, new zoo interactive pieces just taken from real zoos as inspirations, building pieces, playzones etc etc...

I just don't want that to happen because it means paying more money for things i've already paid. Unless all the animals we have now are part of base game roster of part 2 which is very unlikely because that would leave no big name animals to sell for sequel. Aviaries and some aquatics alone won't be popular enough to make for years of DLCs and support for a new version so they would inevitably would have to re sell animals we already have (granted probably new improved versions of them but still don't want to have to pay for them TWICE lol).

I would like a rework on the climbing and herding systems, i would like nursing and guest interactions, i would like a flying and fully aquatic mechanics (and i can't really believe how you plan a zoo game and don't have a plan for this from the start, specially when you have a somewhat sister game going on at the same time that do offer those features even if límited)
