Pay2Win made it to Elite

I forgot, does every additional player crew grant an extra pip? Or you only get 1 extra pip no matter how many multicrew members you have.

One of the critcisms I see here is of the thought that experienced players could buy a new account, buy a pre-built ship and then seal-club in the protected starting area.

This could easily be solved by only delivering a new pre-built ship to a station outside of the protected starting area and not allowing one to transfer it into the protected starting area.

Buying multiple copies of a game is not normally P2W, but FD still managed to screw up even that!

The extra pip is a lesser, and much later, example compared to simply having an extra account able to contribute influence, due to the diminishing returns of most influence gains on a per-CMDR basis. Of course this would be difficult to police, even if they wanted to.

You can get two.

You can get two.

Does Horizons 4.0 start CMDRs off in that noob zone? I started playing in Horizons 3.8, in the safety of the noob zone, and didn't get Odyssey until after I had been to Colonia and back. So it came as a bit of a shock when I found myself on a strange planet where the Odyssey starter mission takes place.

Do you guys really think it's going to get better, once they get a cash flow from this?
How many NEW players are thinking of buying this game, let alone who would even know enough to buy a Xeno killing ship?

its all a bit silly to me.

This game is not being tended to as it should be. It's the game that launched David Braben's Frontier into the stratosphere!

Pay2Win is only a thing if it directly effects your abilities in PvP or against other players. As PvP in Elite is organised via discord/forums etc there's no impact. The game has no proper PvP other than ganking, which most of the time results in a combat log and pushes more into private group or solo. No one really cares if you level up and gain stuff quicker in one player mode... I don't care if some commander I never see buy 10 ships with money, I do care he's funding Elite's future. We don't even have PvP mission board, leaderboard or kill stats to show there is active PvP.

We are not talking about any small nuances.
The question is which path ED will take now.
And it seems to me that this is not about attracting new players, but about extracting maximum money from the existing audience.

As in star citizen. Such games do not need gameplay, they need pre-orders, pictures, bloggers and presentations.

pay to win isnt just pvp, stop with this. Pay to win is pay to advance faster, stop trying to constrict it to your stupid lense

When FD ask for thousands for a picture of a ship that may never be in the game, then I'll be concerned...

Until then, I am able to make up my own mind if I part with MY money on whatever I wish... You, naturally, may do as you wish also.

It will be too late.
You can pay for whatever you want, but it would be nice to sometimes think about how it will end.

However, in the world of the one-day butterfly, no one will understand the turtle...
