In fairness (and at risk of being called a hypocrite for my previous posts - though it isn't a perk I've ever agreed with), people like me who paid for Alpha access have always enjoyed a reduced rate of rebuy given the amount of real-world money we paid in the Kickstarter. If you want to purchase a ship with ARX and enjoy a similarly reduced rate of rebuy for that particular ship, then that seems like a good compromise IMHO.I'd have suggested that FDev sell access to ships for ARX, that just makes them available to buy at stations for that player. The player still has to buy and potentially rebuy it.
Uh-huh, makes it a major disappointment for those who wish to ruin some n00b's day, I guess, or at least know that their 'opponent' lost something. In the first sentence, you answered your own question - 'the other player isn't losing anything' which, of course affects behaviour and gameplay.
There could be many possible solutions:Well what do you suggest? A broke player buys a premade ship for a substantial amount of real money, leaves the mail slot and blows up. He doesn't have the rebuy, so now the ship is gone, and so is the money. This screams not only trouble for the supporr staff, but potentially also legal trouble. The only solution to that issue is to have the premade ship have a value of 0 Cr.
Actually there can be a lot of solutions to this problem other than 0 rebuy.
1. You pay the normal Cr rebuy cost based on their basic market value, but you cannot lose these particular modules, not even if you don't have enough credits.
2. You pay Cr rebuy for these modules normally as long as you have the credits. If you don't have the necessary funds, you don't lose these modules, they remain in outfitting/shipyard, but you cannot use them until you've redeemed them by paying off the Cr rebuy cost attached to them.
3. You've bought them for ARX? Cool, you'll pay ARX for the rebuy as well (5% of the original price). If you don't have enough ARX, no worries, you'll get a loan and you can pay off your debt from your weekly free ARX.![]()
I've done that several times. Buying ED, buying another ED account to have a second CMDR, buying Horizons and buying Odyssey. All I "won" was the "benefit" of more game...Its been covered many times, but here we go again, P2W doesn't mean just winning something in game or winning the game by paying. It covers a wide range of practices where people can open their wallets to gain some in-game benefit.
And some people called engineers P2W back then too. They were more or less right in terms of ship performance.I've done that several times. Buying ED, buying another ED account to have a second CMDR, buying Horizons and buying Odyssey. All I "won" was the "benefit" of more game...
People wanna bemoan that credits mean nothing because they're so abundant that everyone has billions -- until you start talking about removing a rebuy price that would only ever be a hinderance to a new player because a rebuy is literally like .02% of an established player's assets.Uh-huh, makes it a major disappointment for those who wish to ruin some n00b's day, I guess, or at least know that their 'opponent' lost something.
Must be so demoralising...
It doesn't bother me in the least if a ship is free to rebuy, isn't that odd?
Oh, i am neither defending nor condoning it, just pointing out that it may be contentious at best and detrimental at worst.Just curious ... why so? Can't get my head round why is so important that some other player will have zero rebuy for lets say average ship build at best.
The complications that can arise is why i call it a 'major issue'. (zero rebuy gankers were already pointed out)Well what do you suggest? Then suddenly it's a problem. Seems weird, huh?
3 Month early access and pre-built ships for real life Moneys.
Store also seems to become more expensive since they used the word "Adjustment"
Seems we hit rock bottom.
Imho it's more about avoiding lawsuits for FDev.The only thing I think is unfair is that pre-built ships have 0 rebuy cost atm.

perhaps they released an ambiguous statement so they could see how many pitchforks there were. in order to adjust and solidify plans.
Buying multiple copies of a game is not P2W.
