Titan Oya Rewards

I try doing a Titan Bombing run or 2 on Tuesday or Wednesday, so that if Titan becomes susceptible to attacks over the weekend after the Thursday update/tick, I will still get my rewards as I have 'pinged' it in the last 7 days before Destruction.
If it doesn't go down, I have 6 days with other things to do until next Wednesday.

We have known this since Taranis as stated above.

I am also pretty sure you need the 2M in the week before it is Destroyed and not in the week before Meltdown, which is 24 hours after destruction (I may be wrong, but that is how I am calculating it).

If only that well-known layabout Alec Turner hadn't been so desperate to cheese it back in March...

Yeah bloomin Alec Turner

Thinking about it, I understand the two million Credits completely, but I do not understand the one-week requirement at all! I would have thought that a Commander visiting a Titan with resistance 100 and striking it for hours to reach two million Credits:
  1. Has done plenty to earn a paint.
  2. Has actually contributed just as well as a Commander earning two million later when the resistance is lower.

I've just re-read the OP and there are 2 statements that I think are important to note -

(For OYA we have) as Paul states:
"For that reason we have decided on this occasion that we will be gifting the decal and ship kit rewards to all those who jumped in to take on the Titan during the week before meltdown as with the previous Titans"

(And for future Titans we have) as Paul states:
"1) Have done damage to the heat core of a Titan within one week prior to it going into meltdown."

"its been well publicised" ... well I didn't know for whatever reason. I dont do forums usually. I only came on here today to see why I hadn't got the rewards yet. Now I know. I certainly didn't pick up on anything "in game". The streamers I follow on twitch were just saying get your 2mil in. Nothing about it has to be in the week before. I think I first cashed in 50 mil and then another 74ish. Mind you. If all those alert systems hadn't been added and everyone had carried on hitting Oya the way they were my efforts probably would have been included as 'the week before'. I'll take the criticism that it's on me. I certainly wont be applying the same kind of effort on titans again. I'll join the rest of those doing the bare minimum for maximum reward IN THE WEEK BEFORE! Makes sense I suppose. O7

It really doesn't take very long to get the 2m payout. Playing solo, I consistently was breaking 10m per core emergence this last titan. Based on this data, I would be getting about 740k per run at max resistance, so I could in an afternoon run around and get the 2m bond on every titan left and then never need to participate again.

Not just me that's confused then eh? CMDR, you apparently have to do it THE WEEK BEFORE!
(I was getting just under the two mil for one run, my Challenger could hit between 6 and 7 vents in solo, so two runs would cover me. But I was doing it for the community cause, so obviously was doing more than the basic to get 2mil) No rewards for me though because I wasn't there on the correct week.

To be clear, I was referring to the quoted suggestion that there should be no week-before limit.

This change would quickly result in everyone tagging every titan, and no longer needing to participate at low resistance.

The problem there lies not with needing a one-week limit, but with the Titan damage not reducing sufficiently versus hundreds of Control systems!

If we suppose as a base-line that a more modest E.AX. Multi-cannon Chieftain gets two million from one Core at resistance 0, an example formula to replace the present one could be as simple as dividing that damage with (Control + 1). That way, if the same Chieftain visits a Titan with 100 Control, by definition it has to do 101 Cores to get that 2 million—which ought to qualify regardless of when it occurred!

Definitely if Titans with hundreds of Control systems are taking as much as 5% of the full damage, I would adjust that instead and cast out the one-week notion.

Greetings Commanders,

After some magnificent teamwork from independent pilots and the thorough application of missiles directly into the face, the Titan Oya has joined Taranis and Leigong in their new roles as galactic star fertiliser. As the remains continue to sizzle and smolder you are no doubt eager to learn more about how and when you can get your rewards for taking it down!

Whilst our latest update did introduce a number of significant stability improvements for the Titan battle we are aware that some pilots did continue to experience issues in taking on the vents and cores. For that reason we have decided on this occasion that we will be gifting the decal and ship kit rewards to all those who jumped in to take on the Titan during the week before meltdown as with the previous Titans. A reminder that these rewards are incrementally increased per number of Titans you have defeated, so if this is the third Titan you have been involved in defeating you will receive the following rewards (If this was your first please look at the rewards given for Taranis and if this was your second please look at the rewards for Leigong).

The rewards for taking down a third Titan will be added shortly and you will receive:

Decal

Ship Kit

Don't forget you also receive Arx from taking down hearts and gain more if you are a top contributor.

For future Titan encounters remember that you need to do the following to unlock the cosmetic rewards:

1) Have done damage to the heat core of a Titan within one week prior to it going into meltdown.
2) You need to have earned a minimum of 2M credits from hitting the core within this time (You earn less credits from the Titan when they still need weakening and have a high damage resistance)

Suggestion:

If there is a technical way to do so, perhaps consider modifying the requirement to be for any bonds earned within the maelstrom instance, or perhaps the system, rather than specifically bonds granted by core strikes?

This would accomplish two things:
1. It would reduce the dependence on a specific action potentially impacted by bugs, by increasing the ways a commander can prove participation via bonds, if the next titan continues to have any stability issues. Commanders experiencing significant problems could have an alternate path to proving their participation by switching loadouts and thinning out the thargoid presence in an instance for a while.
2. It would acknowledge the usefulness and importance of escorts. Given the larger amount of resistance we saw in Oya, it would be great for players in Open and larger PG instances to have more incentive to take out scouts, and perhaps hunters and interceptors as well. It feels like the recent guardian weapon engineering option is trying to make escort roles more varied and to emphasize their relevance. This would further continue that trend in a small way.

Who knows? If more people drive the scout population down in more instances, especially instances that have been kept open for a while and entered a bugged state, perhaps that might even improve performance and reduce any performance-driven instancing bugs. I have no idea, of course—it just sounds nice in general terms.

Thanks for the great content! Glory to Mankind.

Greetings Commanders,

Hi, Paul. Please define "top contributor" and how much is "more". I made over 80 million in damage to the core between Thursday the 18th and Saturday the 20th, but I didn't receive any extra ARX other than the 100 for each heart destroyed (800 total).

I might be mistaken (somebody please confirm/correct), but I'm almost 100% sure that I received an extra 400 ARX after Leigong's destruction, and I made significantly less damage to that titan. For Oya, I was right there when the last heart popped, and I was parked right in front of it at least two minutes before it went nova.

Also, there this:

EDIT: just saw Paul's post on the white and black versions upcoming update, so never mind.

By this point, I think the one-week limit should be removed. It is an unnecessarily restrictive FOMO mechanic, and a source of frustration for many regular players. The bugs just make it even more annoying.

Titan damage is permanent. If someone has put in the time and effort to do decent damage at a higher resistance level, that should be recognised.

Furthermore, the attack on the Titan itself is the easy part. 99% of the actual effort goes into preparing systems prior to the final assault. Somebody could be instrumental in AXCZ, tissue collecting, spire preparation and so forth, but then have to be afk for reasons beyond their control on the final week, then get nothing to show for it. Not fair at all.

Fdev added one one week limit (which they didn't have initially) because of:
  • Players cheesing the game by just tagging all 8 Titans now so they didn't need to do anything
  • Other players failing to understand 'shoot titan - get rewards' and wanting more complicated rules :)eek:)

So basically it's all down to the players, as usual.

Enjoy!
