Hello, Forums! After being locked out and trying to get into my old account @SanRazo618 I've decided to give up and make a new one (Frontier should really fix the login it continuously wouldn't let me log in and say there's someone with the account when the someone is literally me, super frustrating). I've been lurking and checking in on my community for a while now, so technically I haven't gone anywhere! I gotta say I love the Barnyard pack even though I would've changed the breeds but a Petting Zoo pack was necessary for a zoo game and I have found so much inspiration with everything the new pack is offering! This usually happens with packs that have animals that are common in zoos as it feels like it's way easier for me to fit them into my zoos.

Excited to be back in my community! Love you guys!

I think a "domesticated" reptile like the corn snake or leopard gecko would've been perfect choices for the exhibit in this pack. Really a missed opportunity to get one of the very common reptiles.
Bearded Dragon could've also been cool. There are some really nice Color Morphs. There are even ones that are black and red of which I at first thought that it's a Fake

I'll make a Puff Adder Petting Enclosure 🥰🐍

What's 'imo'?
In my Opinion

Are puff adder dangerous? Venomous snakes couldn't be pets.

Of course. Planet Zoo yet to have a single gecko species.

Definitely. I find it weird that they didn't do that. For the Hamster it depends on the Species though.
They could've added Mice or Barn Owls. They could've also gone more into a general Pet Direction and could've chosen Budgies. It's definitely a bit disappointing. A Species from the Genus Lacerta would've also fit nicely (especially fits well with the Rock Walls from that one Gate Blueprint. Goldfish would've also been a relatively good Exhibit Animal. Carp would of course be better, but I think for those we would need a bigger Exhibit
About the barn owl part, aviary plans should be there too along with other flying birds.

By the way, thanks for fixing the souvenir shops. I'm happy that they are finally working for me :D

They still don't work for me 😭 The vendor won't enter the shop and is "lost".
Also, the community challenges don't work. It says, the connection to the trade center failed, please close the tab and open it again. Of course that doesn't change anything.

There are so many bugs that didn't get fixed, the game becomes more and more unplayable.

Oh, but that's because vendors can't walk through scenery items when they are inside the shop (same as keepers can't walk through building pieces when they enter s habitat). Remove the door and make sure there's no piece obstructing the way. If that doesn't work, fire that employee and hire a new one once the way is unobstructed.

I had the same door that you are using and it was blocking my vendors. I rotated it more than 90 degrees to leave the gap open.

I disagree as common pet reptiles like the corn snake, leopard gecko, ball python or bearded dragon can be seen as domesticated with all their color morphs. Also, corn snakes for example are a synanthropic species, so finding them in a North American barnyard area isn't unrealistic.

Omg! That worked! Thank you so much! Now my guests can fiiiiiinally buy some souvenirs 🥰

I dont think just because it has color morphs that is domesticated, because in that case that would inlcude literal hundreds of wild animals, including reticulated and burmese pythons, alligators, foxes and skunks just to name a few.
In any case they dont fit the barnyard and petting zoo theme in my eyes, just because they are neither found in barnyards (zoo areas or real ones) or petting zoos.
Sure you can make an argument for something like a corn or milksnake which you can sometimes find living around farms, but that also goes for like 100s of other wild animals

It's not a "Pet Pack" or a "Domestics Pack", it's a "Barnyard Pack". For barnyard animals. Reptiles don't tend to be barnyard animals. At most I could see them adding some kind of house gecko species, or something like the social huntsman spider which often inhabits farm buildings. In any event this pack has been really half- so I'm not surprised there's none of that in there.

A donkey that neighs like a horse and is lacking a key iconic morphological feature; a highland cow mis-sized even for its miniature variation; a non-petting-zoo-friendly goat breed no doubt chosen because it was the easiest to make by cloning the female ibex; no unique enrichment items, such as hay feeders, or a chicken coop shelter, or hay bales for the goats to jump on.

This doesn't give me much hope for the next DLC. Frontier's financial woes are showing here. The pig is fine, even if it is another bizarre choice of breed, and the sheep looks good, and the chicken is definitely fun, but over all this pack isn't good. I haven't tested any of the animal interactions with monkeys or lemurs yet, and I'm not really sure I ever will; I don't really agree with the notion that zoos would provide unrestricted access to wild animals like that. Normally these are special encounters guests pay extra for. Obviously it's challenging to implement something that complex, but I think I would have preferred it to have these 'encounters' restricted to barnyard animals only.

We haven’t gotten new enrichment since twilight why would you expect it now all of a sudden?

There’s like at least 5-7 other animals from the base game / other packs that have these encounter animations. They aren’t just for the barnyard animals.

My overall thoughts on the pack remain the same, yes the lack of effort shows through weird breed picks and a few small missing details (cow size, donkey stripe, etc.) but the pack does deliver what it’s supposed to do, let players make petting zoos.

We have more than enough animals now to make petting zoos + new pieces, so while there are some weird choices for the breeds they ultimately don’t take away from the fact that they still are the original basic animals. Why did they choose alpine goat over dwarf goat? Idk, but at the end of the day it’s still a goat. I don’t really think the average player will care that much as long as they have a goat in general - same goes for the rest of the species.

I definitely have my gripes with this pack, but I remind myself that they just launched console and I image a lot of resources went into getting that out. I see this as a pack to tide us over until a more fleshed out pack can be launched this summer. I guess we'll see.

Yes, please!!! It's one of my Favorites, but this would improve it a lot.
So I guess the Somali Wild Ass also doesn't make the right Sounds?
No. And I hoped they would fix both with that DLC, as it would be additional income now and be more worth to work on donkey sound. But nope. They seem pretty comfortable with giving us a cheap reskin with visual and audible mistakes to it.

If that's the new investment policy at Frontier, I have no trust in the next pack or PZ2. If upper quality control this is okay, they are moving in a scary direction.
