Yeah so what? They are similar but still two entirely different things. And its not like frontier hasnt done similar stuff in quick succession before. We just got a petting zoo pack though-

I do like the idea of the classroom though, it doesn’t have to be in a children’s zoo pack though it could just be in an education pack as the finale.
I still don’t know about the playgrounds though, it feels like it would be pretty complicated to get right, they would have to separate the kids from the adults with the programming and have the adults idle nearby - which idk how difficult that is to do. And on top of that you need the animations for the kids on the playground, and the playground probably wouldn’t be that customizable. I feel like they would’ve introduced it last update to pair with the petting zoo pack.
So maybe it’s possible, but I would honestly prefer a different game changing feature like exhibit overhaul or binoculars and just get a playground piece set.
First they were teasing us with lots of updates and new features pointing to an Aviary DLC and now they are teasing us pointing to a free update about playgroundsI think playgrounds are a bit more likely than I thought months ago. First Frontier allowed guests into the exhibit boxes with a very basic pathway. Then update 1.16 allowed guests to walk around the souvenir shops and interact with the items in that space without paths. Now update 1.17 allows guests to walk around habitats out of the paths and interacting with animals.
So I think playgrounds could be on the works with a system similar to the souvenir shops: we place a special floor piece (maybe rubber floor?) where we can place premade items (slide, swing...). Maybe it comes with seats and adults automatically sit down while the children play. The more expansion tiles we put, the more capacity.
But of course Frontier could be working on something completely different and we never get playgrounds. Only time will tell!
Animals like a Squirrel Monkey, Patagonian Mara, some type of rabbit/hare and Honey Badger would be great for this one. Okay, maybe not that last one.It would be pretty disappointing to get a Children's zoo pack right after petting zoo... However, there are some wild animals that are commonly exhibited in so called Children's Zoo. I think even a duck could fit in.![]()
And then there’s Lincoln Children’s Zoo…Petting zoo and children's zoo are similar, yet so different. A petting zoo is obviously domestic animals. A children's zoo tends to be smaller, more docile animals, not necessarily domestic; they also tend to include more local species.
Hey, we had a snapping turtle at ours for a while, so hey, gopher itAnimals like a Squirrel Monkey, Patagonian Mara, some type of rabbit/hare and Honey Badger would be great for this one. Okay, maybe not that last one.On the other hand, it's a meme animal so maybe?

Small Canid? Bat-eared Fox, Grey Fox, Tanuki or maybe even Bush Dog? Yes, Please!maybe even small cats/canids
Good Pack. Black footed Ferret isn't in my personal wants but he definitely fits the endangered, locally important and small role.I like this idea. WHereas a barnyard pack clearly would focus on domestic animals, a children's zoo could definitely fit in a lot more variety.
Squirrel Monkey
Patagonian Mara
European Rabbit or Cottontail Rabbit
Shetland Pony - I'm not giving up on this one since i would have loved having it as the equid for this last pack
Coatimundi species
Duck species
Black Footed Ferret
Chameleon (E)
Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is just...a zoo. A quite good one, in fact. And then there’s Lincoln Children’s Zoo…
I don't see it as a full on scenery set either.Idk i really dont see it working as an animal pack tbh. Without the eductional and kid themed stuffto tie it together its kinda just a wild hodge podge of animals
I think it could, but i could also see a barnyard format working wellI don't see it as a full on scenery set either.
Given that dlcs are planned who knows how long in advance, there is little to no chance a non domestic petting zoo pack is coming. We know frontier doesn't do "oh sorry guys I messed up, here's a better pack". While an educational pack could work in some degree, I feel the barnyard pack tried to cover as much as the petting zoo theme that frontier was comfortable with doing, since that we got an animal pack with the scenery required to build petting zoos.Idk i really dont see it working as an animal pack tbh. Definitely. I like the idea of a children's zoo and there could be some cute rosters, functional playgrounds etc - but I think Frontier consider the Barnyard Pack to be their answer to the category. Although there are differences, they both come under the banner of domestic species / animal and guest interactions, and I don't think we'll be seeing another pack of this ilk.Given that dlcs are planned who knows how long in advance, there is little to no chance a non domestic petting zoo pack is coming. Yeah makes total sense, but i also really didnt inted it to be petting zoo but non domestics. What i thought of was stuff around education for kids, keeper talks and embassador animals, you know the school trip to your zoo in elementary school kind of vibe. Speaking of embassador animals btw im kinda surprised we dont have, we got the educator and the mechanic for exhibit animals for a while know and recently got the animal encounter, but a keeper who takes out a lemur and does a little presentaion is the first thing i think of with this stuff.Given that dlcs are planned who knows how long in advance, there is little to no chance a non domestic petting zoo pack is coming. Amazing sleuthing! This was an interesting site. From the look of the content these were very early brainstorms/mock ups of ideas for the UI, probably pre-release. The image with the trade centre list doesn't include any DLC animals, for example. Shame they abandoned the idea of zookeeper bonds, that would have been such a great addition and bring animal management to life. Also the animal thoughts, @DarthQuell you were just mentioning this the other day! I wish they'd gone ahead with that!View attachment 391977View attachment 391978
