DLC18 discussion and predictions

All animals i want (minus the walrus) yet feels so lacking. Like i said there isn't an 8 animal pack roster variation that i will feel content with for a final pack.

What could come close to me would be something like this though:

1. Coati
2. Howler
3. Rhea
4. Pelican
5. Tree roo (mostly because people want it, i would personally choose something else)
6. Secretary
7. Musk ox / Blackbuck

But i know is unrealistic.

Also the modded secretary seem to work very well on the crane rig. It just needs specific animations and remove some other ones.

This is pretty good mostly, TBH, so long as it was the blackbuck instead of the musk ox. I really could do without the greater rhea too, if for no other reason than I'd prefer we get something that could be done modded without losing anything. And it's not "unreleasitc" from a difficulty angle. This all feels super achieveable! I just imagine they'd spread out the animal types a bit more...

As for the secretary bird, I actually love that mod! It's gorgeous, really. But I can't help but feel like a few unique animations (and different enrichment items) would really benefit it.

JWE2 is not their IP, so they might not finish it on a note like Planet Coaster. Maybe we get lucky and we do get the bigger pack. We don’t have a confirmation for when it comes out, in fact I don’t think steam has shown any updates. So they may be working on it for a bit longer.
The counter-argument to this would be that they ended JWE on a bigger pack as well. For me, if it drops in June? We'll be getting a more basic, regular-sized pack.

But it drops later in the year? It'll probably be a bit bigger. And I'm not expecting something to drop so soon. Late summer/early fall is way more likely. The animals in the barnyard pack were "simpler" but it's in no way, shape, or form the same level of "simple" that the JWE2 spring DLC was.... It's apples and oranges.

Yeah i know the rhea is not wanted for a lot of people but for me is very essential and not to offend leaf but the mod does not look good in it's current version. I agree is a very easy to mod bird but i would need a new version of that mod with better feather textures, actual wings like the ostric and correct markings to consider it covered by mods. Something similar happens with the patagonian mara. So i would also prefer a less clonish animal but since i can't relly on mods for them i need the oficial versions haha

I also really want a pelican. Duck mods are fantastic so is not as important to me to get an official duck but a pelican is. And that's why i prefer the secretary over the grey crowned crane as well. I can deal with the crane mods, they are mostly top quality, but as beautiful as it is the secretary mod lacks the animations to make the secretary what it is (and the sounds).

And talkiing about the sounds that's what makes the howler my top most wanted monkey. Modders can do custom sounds so despite being less complex than the spider monkey in model terms their sounds can't be replicated and the sounds are what makes this animal so unique.

Basically what i try to prioritize at this stage is animals that mods won't do it for me because even if they look good, the animations or the sounds not being the adequate ones are very imersion breaking for me, more than the looks.

Ah, I smell altercation on horizon of this thread. Team Monkeys South America baby!

I reaally believe that the last pack if any will let us have more than one Monkey. And Baboon + Monkey isn't even the same challenge as two monkeys would usually pose. Baboon doesn't need new animations. The fact that the Baboon is also a primate shouldn't stop Frontier from accompanying it with another Monkey also.

I mean I know I'm arguing with the brick wall here, and that roster is already set, but come on. Every other time there was a solid excuse.

This is a volley in front of an open net.

I mean animation-wise the mandrill is a great base for a baboon (mandrills are basically forest baboons, so...), also the basic model and rig as I would guess as a non-expert (correct me if I'm wrong though). So, a baboon really shouldn't be too complicated to create. This definitely opens the possibility for a more complicated primate (spider monkey, howler monkey or basically any other New World monkey) in the same pack.
Let's hope so. We need both the baboon and at least one more New World monkey for sure (better two or three more tbh...).

(Although I have to admit in reallife I find baboons kind of scary but they are still essential for a zoo game and are also very interesting to watch)

The main issue with the baboon would be the hair. If it ends up looking anything like the highlands cow i will laugh hard.

I don’t see us NOT getting to 200 animals when we are so so close. I really think we can either expect a couple more packs OR one bigger final pack. Well, I’m hoping so anyway. Even if the extra four or five animals in the pack ARE the most basic of reskins, that’s better than having eight animals!!

I think the prime example is the blackbuck, pretty much as basic of an antelope as it gets yet fills an important spot in the roster
