Elite Dangerous | Update 18.05 | Thursday 16 May 2024

Latest update makes the game run at about 33% slower than previous versions, would be interested to see if the new update fixes that.

Still no fix for flickering shadows? This issue was reported a while ago and still hasn't been fixed. One of the most annoying things about the game today. It's so hard on my eyes, and I can't even imagine people with photosensitivity being affected by this bug. Please fix this first and then fix the little things about the pre-built ships, for god's sake.

So no fix for players having skins they owned taken away from them by the ARX store update? Seems to me perhaps that should be a damned high priority especially considering the, what should be quite memorable, support exchange and confirmation of the problem that went with this issue.

EDIT: Despite not being mentioned in the patch notes I can confirm that this has indeed been solved with patch 18.05.

Whilst I do appreciate your endorsement for my new line of 'Thin Metallic Psionic Defence Caps' (Available now at all imaginary retailers) the downtime is an estimated frame to ensure we can do any checks that need to be done. There is every chance the update may be available sooner if the stars align or it could take longer if the server cyberhamster forgot to recharge its batteries.

No, it's totally a Plot against ME personally !!!!!!!
I get home from work , have Dinner , and then login to Elite in time for "Downtime Until Bedtime" !

You are welcome not to use the new Extreme Scanning Challenge feature, no need to spoil the fun for everyone else.

Thank you for bringing the issue back into spotlight.

Hopefully FDev noticed it and will decide if it's a feature or a bug exploit.
I'm fine either way, so you dont need to be concerned about what i do or what i dont do in my game.

Concerning SLFs I would be happy if FDev would eventually fix the long-standing bug of NPC crew members not being promoted beyond 100% deadly.
afaik its just the xp bar visual bug. my pilot got to elite (and ever since hes not able to hit anything, but thats another discussion).

Ensured new players correctly remain in Solo Play until performing an initial hyperspace jump which will then transition players into Open Play.
Why even transition them to open play at all? What possible good does that do to a new player?

I honestly cannot think of any activity in the game that requires playing in open other than fighting with other players. Which a beginner rather obviously is completely unable to do with a starter Sidewinder. Or even after a month of gameplay for that matter. Even teaming up with friends (for activities other than attacking other players) is better done in a private group rather than open play.

Can you name any activity that can be done in open play that cannot be done in solo or pg, which does not involve getting hosed by a min-maxed high-end billion-credit combat ship? If there are any such activities, I can't think of them.

I was very obviously being silly, but if you're going to insist on being serious about this, if you don't like that you can activate FSS with SCO active you could just...not do that? You can boost at zero throttle in normal flight, seems like it functions the same to me. 🤷

I suspect that people that selected Solo will stay in Solo, someone that selected Open will be in Solo until their first jump. I don't think anyone is being forced into Open. That is what I'd presume; the sentence could be better phrased if that is the case.

FDev is missing out on suit cosmetics - tin foil-augmented helmets, for one thing. :D

A nice feature would be to have ED reload once the update is complete so I don't have to keep checking if the update is done. I could just glance across to my PC and see it's loaded.

Or a text but I think I'd rather just have it reloaded.
