Elite Dangerous | Update 18.05 | Thursday 16 May 2024

I have a T16000, what kind of problem is affecting thrustmaster joysticks?

May I ask what is the problem with the thrustmaster joystick?
I also use a Thrustmaster and don't have any of those issues.
Have you tried verifying files or editing controls?

Sorry to post here but this is my last resort. There's no way to request customer support. At least for now.
Right after 18.05 update, "Continue" button is replaced with "Start" button which leads to "tutorial mission".
Please let me continue my save and please let up to create "customer ticket" as in-game "help and info" says so.
Hey CMDR,
This issue can sometimes occur after an update.
Simply select Start and you will initial the in-game tutorial. You'd want to immediate skip the tutorial to return back to the main menu.

You should then be able to continue as normal.

If you require further assistance, please feel free to send us a support ticket via https://customersupport.frontier.co.uk/hc/en-us/requests/new

Updated & logged into live and was able to outfit my Python II core modules from stored parts while I'm way out in the black. Looks like that issue is fixed :)

Looking forward to finding out more about the other three new ships & any other news about future content.

Honestly I'd say "either make the noobzone work again for new players, or unlock it since it's no longer needed".
I've never actually done the assault courses and the like that are supposed to be in there and it might be fun to zip through them in a speedeagle.
Go to your right panel and click the training tab. Missions are all in a ship the training provides.

Elite Dangerous Live/4.0 server maintenance is now complete and Update 18.05 has been deployed.
hi sorry to bother you but i was wondering if u guys could provide official clarification of this patch's phrasing please? --> "Ensured new players correctly remain in Solo Play until performing an initial hyperspace jump which will then transition players into Open Play."

Was this perception by another poster correct? --> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-05-thursday-16-may-2024.625478/post-10376680

Or does the game indeed now automatically transport you into 'OPEN' play mode regardless of what was manually chosen in start-menu?

Just wanna be certain i'm ready for PVP ( human campers/interdictors ) if/when i decide to hyperspace jump out-of-system today. 🚀

What are xinput and non-xinput controllers?

(I'm assuming that eg. an Xbox One controller is an "xinput controller" because I have one and haven't noticed any problems.)
If you’ve got an xinput controller then you’ll not have any issues - players with direct input controllers like the Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS are the ones with the woes.

Notice my NPC Guardian SLF fighter is sometimes not following orders and keep "maintaining their position". It was working with no issues before update. Also, with regards to the keybind orders, there is a "follow" order which would be useful but I noticed it doesn't work and it doesn't have a complementary on screen order counterpart on the crew ui screen. All orders (docking, as well) are key bindable and listed on ui screen with the exception of "follow" order. Also, I hope we can utilize a 2nd fighter to throw out there since there are two figher bays max you can use and 3 max crew you can hire. No real point in hiring more than 1 if you can't use multiple NPC crewmates.

Greetings Commanders,

An update will be released for Elite Dangerous Live/4.0 on Thursday 16 May. The update will contain the following fixes:
  • Fixed issues with Guardian Fighters hit check not behaving correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where attempting to swap a core internal module with a stored module was being blocked for Pre-Built ships.
  • Ensured new players correctly remain in Solo Play until performing an initial hyperspace jump which will then transition players into Open Play.

Release Schedule
  • 7AM UTC/8 AM BST - Live/4.0 Servers Offline
  • 9AM UTC/10AM BST - Servers Online and Update 18.05 available
These times are estimates and are subject to change

Should you encounter any other issues please be sure to report them on the Issue Tracker.
Just tested it, and NPCs will still not fire the AX Taipan's weapons. I also noted that they wouldn't shoot Enhanced AX Missiles at scouts.

More concerning still, I noticed that when I was flying over very low speed, the thargoids aren't firing at ME. In my beluga I needed to be moving about 300m/s, but in my Taipan, I only needed to be moving at all, and scouts were not firing whatsoever. They would just fly around in confusion, failing to shoot anything.

I think the targeting code might be completely bolloxed. I know I've heard from others in AXI that Interceptors are also experiencing problems firing when players are moving beyond a certain speed.

I would not surprised if this is the exact same problem impacting player NPCs. If there's some sort of disconnect between where they are aiming and where they are supposed to shoot, then the better their 'skill level', the less they'll fire, because they know they're not going to hit. Meanwhile, lower-threat NPC code allows for missed shots, so they still shoot at a much more reasonable rate, which occasionally hits.

This really is a very major bug. I've seen several reports of the game being much easier now than before, and especially with the War nearing its climax, having the strongest enemies in the game failing to properly fire is pretty dang game-breaking.
