DLC18 discussion and predictions

People here saying that SA fauna wasn't requested or that it was niche seens to have forgotten that 60% of the last year animals also lies in the same categories. How the heck wanted dama gazelle for example?
Well I wanted another gazelle, didn't really care which one but they are great for realistic mixed savanna habitat builds. I still stand by the gazelle as my favourite addition of the arid pack.

Sure it can be your favorite but outside of the hardcore animal fans no one known what a dama gazelle or a Nile lechwe are.

Eurasia was also filled with niche animals like saiga, takin, wisent (yes people outside Europe don't even know Europe has bisons, they are familiar with american bisons if anything) and sloth bear, and to an extent even the wolverine which was very wanted in the forums but among the general audience i bet is hard to find people that can name what animal it is.

It doesn't matter whether or not majority ot even all animals left for SA are niche or filler.

The fact that other continents have their fill of roster diversity means that SA should get same treatment.

And basically this. If even Eurasia with a bunch of boring pretty niche animals got a another pack later in the game's lifecycle then is only fair for SA to get the same treatment. And it doesn't need much really, just four or five animals (if they are the right ones) would be good enough. But considering it's biodiversity is pretty weird that Europe is better represented than SA.

Oh nice is it south America slander day? Taking away birds, exhibit animals and niche filler animals south America is pretty much left with the most popular requested animals - monkeys, ocelot, rhea, spectacled bear and coati.

All this slander comes from the fact that people are realizing that the next pack might be the last so they are pushing for their own priorities in what animals they want in the game for their own projects and not for what is really missing from the game. Which is fair and valid, but don't disguise that behind a false argument that SA as a continent is well represented in game when is clearly not with Patagonia being completly empty, missing it's biggest and most important bird (and the only big ratite left i might add), having only one tropical monkey and no tropical birds, and other than the monkey and the sloth (that barely counts) no other arboreal animals like coati or Tamandua.

Hey Shouldn't The Frontier Report Thing Be Out Soon?
Their financial year ends today but it will take some time to analyse and put the report together. Could be another month or two.

Last year's wasn't live until September. That one may have been late though due to the financial problems and hard decisions needing to be made around strategy and staffing, and needing to deal with that internally before releasing any news to the public.

It depends on if the next pack is the last and whether it has the normal 8 animals or not, but I feel like despite how much I want them, animals like the Secretary and Tree Kangaroo have had their chance with arid and Oceania and if the next pack is the last it is difficult to decide whether Latin America should have a fair chance or it should be a mixing pot of animals from around the world

I wouldn't mind a mixed animal pack as long as SA gets at least 3 species (and a good selection, not just the american flamingo).

I think if it is a varied pack the tree kangaroo, secretary and baboon all have chances of being in it. I just hope for coati, monkey and mara/rhea being in the mix as well.

Every animal had its chance already.

Do we have any dates that are most likely for a summer DLC release, or do we expect it after summer? I think in the previous years it was always in June, right?

The only thing we know is "later this year", it's incredibly vague on what that means so it could be this month or July for the normal summer release or maybe if it's the grand final pack with 200+ /s animals for south America like everyone wants, it could be September or later.

But the same is true for all of the SA animals.
I cant really think of one that wouldnt have fit into tropical, grasslands or arid
I think using arid is unfair as it was just African animals essentially making it a regional pack and absolutely tropical should’ve been an animal pack and the South America issue would be less severe but the South American animals have had less opportunities, both Oceania and Africa have 2 packs exclusively featuring their animals whereas South America only has 1

Hyrax had multiple chances, but no, we had to get PORCUPINES and MEERKATS and SOUTHERN WHITE RHINOS and other useless junk like that.
