DLC18 discussion and predictions

What I want to know is, if we get a GSNM in the next DLC, what will happen to this forum?:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Eh for me GSNM missed its shot. It would have been very welcomed imo in place of the sloth bear in the eurasia animal pack as it would have fit the theme as a monkey thats found in snowy areas of asia and more or less the same as the sichuan takin, but in a more general grapback kind of deal?
Nah man, when your competition is any new world primate and baboons then you got quite the hard time justifying to not be either of those. Some could do that with a fighting chance like the colobus monkey or a guenon as africa also doesnt have a monkey yet, but i wouldnt bet on them any time soon in a popularity contest.

Imo the snubnose is in a very unfortunate and rather unfair position.
Its a very cool species and if i recall correctly a very important and star animal in chinese zoos, but really only kept in that region and not anywhere else.
Which makes it pretty similar to something like the wisent or american black bear.
It really suffers from the atrocious lack of monkeys in game, if we had a nice selection already noone would mind to much, but in this world people would be very mad that the first monkey in 12 packs is one that kept nowhere but 1 region (again)

Its really a shame, 37 holdings really are nothing to snub your nose at, but when compared to the 409 holdings across the different subspecis of squirrel monkey, which is present in large numbers on every single continent besides africa it does fade a bit. And the squirrel monkey isnt even particullary requested.

Secretary, Pelican & Rhea, pick at least 2 if we really lucky all 3
These are the most likely options even if we like to through the Scarlet ibis and the Roseatte spoonbill to the names we usually talk about deep down we know they are not likely.

Grey crowned crane and american flamingo are another two that are also very likely.

As other people said, it would be nice to finally get ANY monkey, but South America needs them way more. If we're really down to the last pack or two, I would not view the GSNM as a good pick.

Though I don't see the GSNM as a priority specifically for primate representation, it is a great animal to make the Chinese players happy. A lot of people say that North America and Europe (though there are still some open niches and a missing bear) are somewhat overrepresented, which to me is expected and totally fine. A huge chunk of the playerbase and the online community comes from those places. A lot of us want the basics for our local animals. However, Chinese players make up a big chunk of the playerbase, but the language barrier keeps many from participating in this community. East Asia isn't badly represented, but I don't think it's quite gotten the same treatment relative to its biodiversity.

From what I understand, the Golden Snub Nosed Monkey is the top missing local star animal for building Chinese Zoos. If I were trying to build a Chinese Zoo, I would also want a deer and the alligator. Already, the community wants a muntjac and some ornamental birds, especially the Mandarin Duck and Golden Pheasant. The yellow-throated marten is also a pretty cool animal. For Japanese sections, I'd also want a raccoon dog and an ungulate, probably the serow. If we're looking at another few years of DLCs, I'd hope they all get in.

After reading many people's responses, can I think so? Everyone is not opposed to GSNM in their hearts, but compared with them, some new world monkeys, such as black howler monkeys, are what many people think should be obtained first.
I would love the GSNM. I won't even be dissapointed if we get it, BUT the black howler monkey is essential to me. Like, any other SA is fine. I really like spider monkeys and GTM and even squirrel monkeys BUT what i trully need and want is the howler. So if not it any monkey is equally fine by me (as long as it isn't the creepy smiling macaque)

Yeah that's what I'm seeing aswell. If I want to build an area full of primates where all 3 regions are full of diverse primate choices, I have the choice of:
  • Asia - Proboscis Monkey, Siamang gibbon, lar gibbon, bornean orangutan
  • Africa - Gorilla, bonobo, chimpanzee, mandrill, ring tailed lemur, red ruffed lemur, black and white ruffed lemur
  • South America - Capuchin monkey
Largely, asia and africa are good enough for general representation but arguably Africa is the best off with great apes, monkeys and lemurs. South america is stuck with one monkey meaning a tropical area is either going to have one monkey habitat or multiple capuchin habitats to try and simulate that diversity of monkeys.

You forgot the Japanese Macaque

To be honest, although I am an Asian, apart from building a habitat for Japanese macaques when playing career mode, I have never raised one in the remaining hundreds of hours.

Every primate in a DLC has been from Asia except for the capuchin and I’m sick of it. There are SO many other primates we need before any more Asian primates.

👏No👏More👏Asian👏Primates👏
You cant be picky when it comes to primates in PZ, gotta take what you can get :D
Agree that other have higher prio, but i think asia would still greatly benefit from a monkey or two

This is the last full week of June, maybe we will hear some news. Most likely not, but it would be nice to get a teaser in this upcoming Unlocked stream!

Also to add what everyone else is saying: it’s nothing new but if we are gonna get another monkey I hope it’s from South America.
