Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

I'm locked out again, until SFSE and all the other things depending on that are updated. And then I'll have to weed out mods one by one that cause problems. I guess most of those that alter actual gameplay don't work so well now, after Bethesda changed those aspects themselves.

Lucky me, none of the mods I'm currently using require SFSE. I guess they are mostly script mods and/or texture stuff. Anyway, it's all working fine, even the multiple companions stuff.

The new Trackers Alliance stuff is pretty good. I had 1000 ARX, er, I mean Creation Credits from getting the Premium version anyway, so I spent 700 of them on the new Bounty Quest. You get one free major bounty quest without doing anything, but the second one costs Credits. The 2 major quests are pretty nicely done, with full voice-overs, and new POIs.

You also get access to some new "Elite" bounty missions on the bounty board. These seem to be the same as the old bounty missions, just with harder enemies and higher rewards. The POIs are the same old ones we already had.

So, my guy has been having a good time doing bounty stuff, and I think making bounty hunting a more profitable and accessible career is good.

I do think they are charging too much for the second quest, though. 700 Creation Credits is about 7 dollars, and the quest is only a couple hours long at most. You do get some nice weapons at the end, but still. 7 dollars is 10% of the cost of the entire game, for a 2 hour quest. Seems a bit pricey to me.

But overall I'm happy. The game is running great, and new stuff is being added.

Moar Space Sandbox is a good thing. :)

700 for a single quest is definitely way too much. That Argos Mining creation for 500 looks quite a lot better. Microtransactions in singleplayer titles are a bit shady anyway.

I've encountered another "fun" bug. After unlocking the Crimson Fleet smuggling missions I thought it might be fun so I equipped my ship with shielded cargo and a scan jammer, and then worked on my Deception skill to get further benefits... only for the smuggling missions to completely vanish from the boards. I looked this up and loads of people have been reporting this since the release of the game, so I guess they're just not going to bother fixing this one.

It seems like a pretty big bug as the whole contraband scan/shielded cargo/jamming game mechanic is basically just to enable this gameplay... and it doesn't work. Great.

Some of my mods are now also on creations. So which version to use ? This will be an interesting time now with dual mod systems.
I noticed this also. In past games such as Fallout 4 and earlier, I have avoided the built-in modding system and relied on the community supported stuff instead.

I'll keep an open mind, but most likely I will not use the built-in stuff very much. I definitely won't pay 7 bucks for a single quest again!

Yup, Nexus all the way for me for mods. I found the creation club ones are usually older or outdated versions...judging purely from my experience with Fallout 4 anyway.

I paid the 700 Arx for the trackers thing, enjoyed the 2 missions I did...but they're definitely not worth that amount of virtual cash.

We'll see what the dedicated modders now armed with the creation kit turn out over the next few weeks :)

Had fun doing a piracy mission last night. I'm doing my best to be somewhat "good" whilst still being a pirate. Always trying to persuade first, and then if I have to fight just taking out the engines and boarding to avoid killing everyone. Initially I was only fighting the higher level guards on the ship and ignoring the low level crew who seemed to be mainly just scared and panicking and not firing at me. I grabbed the loot and was trying to get off the ship, but I just couldn't activate the hatch. I thought it might be the NPCs blocking me, and eventually everyone on board found their way to me and I was forced to kill them. I ended up with a literal pile of corpses on the exit hatch, a 100,000 credit bounty and 7 murders on my record. Then I realised I was trying to get out of the landing hatch and not the docking hatch. I went back to my ship and just sat there in silence for a while with mild PTSD.

It does seem somewhat broken that you can blow up a ship and kill everyone on board and just get a single 1,500 fine, but boarding and murdering the crew individually can give 100x more penalty. but hey ho.

My game is still broken. I've identified the mod that removed NA spaceport for me, which is progress. It's Darkstar, which ironically is also available in creations. But I still haven't found out why I can't talk to vendors. Things are moving way too fast anyway right now. New mods pop up left and right, old ones get updates. I need to uninstall and come back in a few months when the dust has settled and the DLC is out.

Missions are still borked in NG10 I haven't managed to complete the ECS storyline in any ofy playthroughs .... Being a bit of a newbie for the mods side of things but it looks as if most of them is to make the game easier ? Which isn't really needed. But on saying that I now look quite the sight in my legendary codonia matching helmet back pack and suit ( superior) and I didn't have to wait for literally days to get it .

90% of the mods are to either make it a bit prettier and/or less irritating/broken ;)

Last night I discovered that if you hold in the thrusters button/key (requires Piloting Level 1) then this completely disengages the main engines/thrusters, allowing you to flip the ship around without changing heading or velocity. I'm not sure if it's of any use in actual combat, possibly only for strafing a big stationary ship like the UC Vigilance, but it's still fun to do. Also, if this game wasn't documented so poorly (or not at all) then it wouldn't have taken me 200 hours to discover this.
