DLC18 discussion and predictions

Also how about an endangered animal pack for the final pack? You guys think it could be enough to give us some of the most wanted animals?
Sure but I don’t see it as likely because it would have the same message as the conservation pack, plus with the conservation pack they chose animals that are very well known to be endangered, out of the ones we want I can really only see the tamarin as the known endangered one. Everything else would just have a reaction of “oh that’s endangered? Had no idea” I feel the conservation pack hit all of the big ones, the other big ones they missed like Javan rhino, mountain gorilla, Sumatran orangutan and forest elephant nobody wants (or very few want).

It would mean nor coati, rhea and mara so is not my prefered option in the slightless but it could features things like secretary, crowned crane, tree kangaroo, spider monkey and Golden lion tamarin all in the top 25 of the Metawishlist.
The big one this would cut out for me is the coati. Which, among the top five is maybe the easiest "slam dunk" for Frontier: It's pretty straight-forward to make, doesn't have any super "unique" behaviors they would need to employ animation-wise, or crazy noises... So if they do a general pack I don't really see them leaving it out.

It's possible, I guess, because it could still hit some of the bigger animals still (and, of note, the tree kangaroo species that's endangered is the one in the PlanCo dictionary now)... I would just find it really odd to cut out the easiest one simply because of the pack theme.

Also the planet coaster sounds are different today on the twitch stream, now there’s like chain sounds like going up a rollercoaster.

I have to say it’s a creative way of revealing the new game I’ll give them that.
Super creative! And I feel kinda vindicated with my wacky theory that they may have been working on things for the two games simultaneously. There is definitely a non-zero chance that all of those Polynesian-style pieces were designed by the same people who did the Oceania pack. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah exactly. Also it just clicked for me. Yesterday we heard guest noises, we were in line. Earliar this morning we heard the chains like we were going up on a coaster, and in 45 minutes itll be the drop of the new game like a drop of a coaster. Thats so clever  Plus you can hear water noises in the background also with the surfboards, waterparks are definitely the selling feature.

Yup, that feels about right! The addition of waterparks, pools, and the like are actually a pretty big selling point for me. Literally anything that might allow me to create something that's not Coaster-focused will increase the likelihood that I buy this at some point. Haha.

And, selfishly? If they add pools I'd have to imagine that would make adding bodies of water in a specific/stamped sorta way a possibility which uh... GIMME THAT IN A PLANET ZOO SEQUEL AND/OR IN OUR FINAL UPDATE! Making smaller, shallow pools of water in an easier, less fiddley way would be a win in my book. GO AWAY VALID/INVALID water addition lines!

Where's my carousel frontier?!
Real talk: The part of the PlanCo announcement that I'm most excited about? Seeing what new features it offers that might come our way in the next update. Hah. Or what's been added to Planet Zoo over the years and how it gets applied for PlanCo (if at all).

But f'real. Carousels are keeeey! They would be a lowkey new way to build for "dead space" in your zoo and/or add to entrance plazas.

40 animals in a DLC of a frontier's five-year-old game? Impossible, but a realistic "zookeepers collection dlc" might have at most 16-20 animals, so cut out half of those species

20 animals would be awesome but I still fell like it’s too much I feel like if the last pack is bigger it will probably be animal + scenery pack size with 11-12 habitat animals and 1-2 exhibit with a scenery set

Hmmm, if I were to throw out an endangered animal pack I’ll admit a lot of the big ticket guys are out. Still, the opportunity for a good pack is still there! I would argue it could be a well stacked list of good animals:

  1. The golden lion tamarin is the no brainer. Anyone who learns anything about zoo education knows who this guy is. Likewise, it’s a cute monkey and a perfect headliner.
  2. Another endangered mammal, and also part of AZAs SAFE program would be the tree kangaroo. Which I also think needs very little say as to why it should be in the game.
  3. I would go for the Peere David’s deer as the pack ungulate, a lot of the other famous endangered ungulates are already in game. This species perfectly fits the vibe, and gives Asia another deer species it could desperately use.
  4. For a waterfowl species I think the nene is perfect. Hawaii is being devastated by invasive mosquitoes, habitat loss, feral pigs, and cats. So this just seems like a perfect animal to have, it also highlights some pacific islands which is great.
  5. For another bird, and north Americas first bird, I want the whooping crane. Another species being bolstered by conservation and captivity, also gives us our second official crane species.
  6. For another bird that I think would work well in game, would be the Guam rail. Admittedly not a very flashy bird, but I think it could be a pretty unique one! More pacific island representation, and it could use whatever rig the kiwi uses.
  7. For a habitat reptile I’m gonna go with the Radiated tortoise which is also part of the AZA SAFE program and we could get a good sized habitat tortoise with interspecies enrichment with the lemurs.
  8. For the exhibit animal I think the mountain chicken would be perfect as an endangered frog species.
