What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I spent most of the day making this fountain. I made it using a 2 meter high concrete habitat fence and then used the North African mosaic tiles to create a skin. Talk about tedious. 😮‍💨
I certainly agree on the tiles, definitely the most time consuming of the sculptures I made for the Grasslands animals on the "Console build sharing" thread. In the end I left it a bit asymmetrical.

Two days ago, I thought was finished with the Oceania/Australia area of my current sandbox project. I even recorded a tour of the area showing off the various habitats for my YouTube channel. And last night I realized that despite having as a goal the inclusion of every single Oceanic/Australian animal, I actually missed four species. So I spent yesterday (and will be spending today) adding those species to rectify the problem.

I’m working on 3 zoos simultaneously. A North American temperate biome zoo called Sonoma Coast Wildlife Sanctuary, a tropical biome zoo called Rainforest Safari, and an African/Australian Outback grasslands biome zoo called Bongo Valley Zoo that has a tiny bit of tropical mixed in where it makes sense.

Since the Africa/Grasslands pack is the newest addition to console, Bongo Valley is where my time has been going of late. The fountain I made the other day got some accessorizing and detailing and the brand new Lemur Island habitat has now joined the zoo lineup.

That ring tailed lemur pic makes me laugh cuz why does it looks like Mufasa after Scar thew him off the cliff?

EDIT: I need this site to support larger/better quality photo sizes.

If i allready mix up the speculation thread with my want for another african antelope i might aswell show what i did today.
Im steadily working towards extending my africa portion for my next larger project, an african coastal section with penguins, flamingos and sealions, but lions, gorillas and penguins+sealions next to each other was a bit to much of an high intensitiy area that i wanted atleast one more calm filler enclosure inbetween and whats better then that then a paddock for african ungulates?
Sadly i allready used both the bongo and the lechwe so i had to settle for the nyala and a small rant about wanting more cool standalone antelopes and i think so far it turned out quite well. Unlike other times i prioritised the guest path, main viewing area and filler inbetween gorillas and antelopes, something i often just kind of forget and i gotta say im very happy with this. Has the calm, relaxing break vibe i wanted with a nice bench in the shade to chill out and vibe, so i say i succeded on that front.

Today I opened a zoo that I had been working on back and forth. Retro Reptiles.
I have a zoo called herpetology haven, I like it but I have noted a few things that made me lose interest: some habitats were taking forever to clean, the zoo wasn’t making a lot of money (it’s sandbox but I like to factor that in) and I struggled with getting guests. This zoo has an Australian vibe to it and is split up into 5 sections. Entrance/gift/info center has snakes. The center has 2 large stages with animal talks strategically set up to accommodate a lot of people. A lizard area. A turtle area. A crocodillian area with the color morphs of crocs.

My new zoo Retro Reptiles. I got inspiration from Riverside Reptiles located in Connecticut and with some concept I made for other zoos that never got added.
This zoo uses black metal/concrete with neon lights. Had a large warehouse vibe to it. This time I am not putting the max amount of animals into a habitat, only enough that guests see them just fine. Only the gharials and crocs are outside as the rest of the reptiles are inside. Money isn’t an issue but I want to give employees promotions (long story short and personal reasons I choose to promote). The exterior will need a make over at some point and I do intend to look at the workshop for ideas for the roof.
