DLC18 discussion and predictions

While echidna and tree roo would be enough for me to be thrilled, and each of the other choices are all very cool on their own, Frontier continuing to refuse to throw any kind of bone to South America would just be so baffling to me. No return to SA as an animal pack even after regional packs returned as a format was bizarre given it has pretty easily been the most requested region for years, but having no SA in the final fan-favourites pack would be a new level of strange. Surely the only reason they could be doing that would be to save having actually good SA representation for the sequel right?
Yeah, I'm thinking saving the SA rep for the sequel is probably what's happening. Considering how almost all the really big name species missing (and not referenced in the dictionary) are from this continent, it's probably gonna be big basegame and dlc fodder for the second go.

Oh believe me Ik- and I really do hope South America gonna get Its spotlight in this dlc together with Oceania, just nothing has been announced yet like what if there are 11-12 habitat animals and one exhibit animal being 12-13 animals and we only know 8 animals that may gonna make it it means there still can be 3-4 more species and it can be the South American Coati, The Black Howler and maybe also the Walrus like It's just so weird getting mad over a freaking dictionary, like ppl wait for the announcement a least----
You're right. I'm grateful we're getting a new DLC and we don't know what it is yet. I took the dictionary too seriously lol.

Do we know why those words that started this whole debate have been added to the PC dictionary but not the PZ one? That's very weird as well.
I'm guessing because it's the PC2 version of dictionary so it's the latest version, they had no reason to update PZ dictionary since Barnyard

I doubt we should count out the baboon, echidna, secretary and tree-kangaroo just yet. If anything, we should probably be safest to assume none of them mean anything and be pleasantly (or otherwise) surprised if they end up in game.
But the evidence is right there, added the day after LQA update, no current Zoopedia or decoration has their name in it. Yes, it is risky but I'd rather have hope for them coming then just go back to the old repeating the same thing but edited till Stream or Trailer

You can assume them confirmed if you want, but the smartest choice is--as per usual--being patient and waiting for the inevitable official confirmation... after all, there could always be some other explanation we are simply unaware of...

It's seemingly not even that long to wait now anyway, I'd rather be surprised tbh.

and still those animals are highly requested because the whole community voted for them-
I didn’t vote for sifaka or dik-dik. Guess I’m not part of the community 😂
and another point is I don't see frontier finishing the support for the game without bringing the 1# most requested animal rn on the wishlist being the South American Coati, although yh the wishlist is a bit outdated but oh well
That in no way is a reason for support to keep going. There will literally always be an animal in the number 1 slot of the meta wishlist as soon as they take off the current one. Porcupine, Tasmanian devil, Wolverine, all of them were at the top of the meta wishlist at one point in time.

I don’t think there is a PZ dictionary, perse. I think it’s all the same language.
There are different versions on different game sites. There used to be one on PC site and on PZ site and they were more or less in sync.

Then the old PC one got taken down, and only recently we got updated version on PC2 site.

Dictionary on PZ site remained outdated. I believe that's what Nacho meant when he said PZ and PC dictionaries

Also I’m wondering if we could get a teaser tomorrow?
I wouldn’t bank on that on a Friday. Monday or Tuesday, though? Definitely possible!

I’m excited to see how they roll this one out…

Ah. I wouldn’t read too much into that. Especially if they were synched up before. Feels more like they’re updating the language but focusing the rollout on the PC2 site.

  • Five animals in the pack will need completely new rigs and animations, compared to the usual 2 or 3 new rigs we get in each DLC
I wonder which animals you think need "completely new rigs and animations". Everything I see is perfectly in line with their usual approach.

  1. Secretary bird would be an adjusted crane rig and some adjusted/new animations
  2. Baboon would be adjusted mandril rig
  3. Sifaka would be adjusted lemur rig with some adjusted/new animations
  4. Dik-dik requires adjusted ungulate rig
  5. Echidna requires adjusted badger/wombat rig and maybe some adjusted/new animations
  6. Tree kangaroo requires adjust quokka/kangaroo rig with some new animations to support climbing behaviour
  7. Tortoise requires adjusted tortoise rig
Like, all of this falls perfectly in line with previous packs, the whole "2 to 3 new rigs" thing isn't even correct to begin with. Frontier has the tools to easily make adjustments for custom rigs for all their animals (they've had them from the start) and have had animation mapping tools (also from the start) to handle new animations where needed. It's how they can pull of having a Tasmanian Devil on a raccoon base and giving the Nile Lechwe an entire set of new walking animations.

Sorry, my knowledge of video game development is pretty much nonexistent... What I meant is: this pack doesn't contain nearly as many "clones" (for lack of a better word) compared to other packs we've seen.
Sure we have two ungulates and a tortoise, but everything else is pretty much unique.
This is what I meant, sorry for the confusion

I'm just trying to be sceptical as I don't want to hype myself up for what is ultimately just speculation... This pack to me seems almost too good to be true
It really does, now that I have slept on it a bit. I just hope, if its at all possible, for more SA representation.
IF this is the next pack which animal would be your favorite? Mine would probably be dik-dik.
