DLC18 discussion and predictions

Keep in mind, the team might be spread a bit thin since a lot of their time is being spent porting over assets, animals, decorations, etc. to function on console. A larger gap between DLC is to be expected, and since they have 6 more DLCs to port over until March 2025 to fulfill their promise on the Battle Pass, this trend might continue.

We don’t know if a separate team is working on Console stuff or a separate team for New Content, and I don’t know if PZ staff also crossover at all and work on PC2 in some capacity.

I honestly don't think this is going to be an Asian animal pack... Sure, Hamadryas Baboons are technically found in Asia, but most of their range is African, and Africa is the continent they're associated with the most (ancient Egypt y'know).
As for the scenery we're seeing here... Well, there isn't much you can add in terms of scenery when it comes to mountains. It's either some Tibet/Nepal/Himalayan inspired decorations, or log cabin type things (maybe some South American stuff too? I genuinely don't know 😅). But we have to keep in mind that scenery always tends to have little correlation to the animal roster:
•Tropical had southeast Asian scenery but only 2/5 animals were from that region
•Africa had North African scenery, with a grand total of checks notes... 2 north African animals, one of which an exhibit animal
•Arctic scenery pieces were based off of Northern Europe, despite having two exclusively North American animals (Dall Sheep and Arctic Wolf)

I swear, if the Spectacled bear is not there I will....I will-

smash this pumpkin. Frontier, if you want to save this pumpkin, you know what you have to do.

Honestly, we might be holding on way too much to the idea of a "Zookeeper's collection" pack than we should. Yes, JWE2 got one, but that's at the end of the day one single point of reference.
I mean, pretty frequently JWE2 had DLCs that PZ had no connection too. JWE2 got that feather pack, and to this day we are still (desperately) hoping that some sort of bird heavy pack might come to PZ.

I would be very surprised if that tent and fliers in the artwork is something generic like a celebratory 5 year anniversary thing. The zookeeper in the art is suspicious, but highlands is very likely it seems.

The thing is that when Frontier researches new animals for the dlcs they start by googling alphabetically African animals, then Asian animals, followed by European animals and then Oceanian animals. Later they get to North American animals. By the time they arrive to South American animals, they already have enough animals for a dlc and stop the search.

I think we can go as far as to say that we do know, as they specifically said that the team was working very hard on the console port. If the DLC then takes longer than usual, I think the best conclusion is that the team was focusing on the console port over the DLC.

Even if it's two separate teams; there's a limited budget they can spend on PZ anyway, so would result in a similar situation.

I've been thinking about the dictionary and yesterday's news and the different options we could have:

Option A: Highlands animal pack
With the baboon, Markhor, Pallas's cat and tree kangaroo. That would leave out the Echidna, Secretary, Spurred tortoise, dikdik and Sifaka (all of these are found in shrublands, even the Sifaka although its main habitat are forests).

Option B: Old world animal pack
With the baboon, markhor, Pallas's cat, secretary, spurred tortoise, dikdik and Sifaka. That would leave out the echidna and tree kangaroo.

Option C: Zookeeper's collection animal pack
This is hard to imagine. There are 3 confirmed animals, but 6 candidates for 4 slots. And the lack of American species makes this less likely. The only way would be that this pack is a bigger one.

So my conclusion is that either we are getting at least 2 more DLCs or that the dictionary animals were put there to mess with us or because they were discharged options from old DLCs.
Technically Short-Beaked Echidnas do range into the Australian Alps, though yeah not really a primary locale. The threshold for Highlands is apparently only 600m, so pretty much every Rainforest species ranges into that, like the South American Coati at 2500m.

The Dictionary list is obviously incomplete, so unaccounted things are certainly plausible. The deleted terms have a decent success rate so far, that might change when we find out more.

Before we state that this is the last DLC, let's also keep in mind that 1 more DLC was produced and released for PlanCo after PlanZo was released. Granted that was 1 time, but it could happen again. This particular DLC is gonna release before PlanCo 2, so there's a possibility that we'll get another after.
And of course, this may be the last in which I will vandalize Frontier's offices with sticky googly eyes because the gray fox wasn't added and neither were anymore South American animals
