DLC18 discussion and predictions

Indeed, everything is so mountain/highlands coded. The baboons are sitting on a little mountain made of rock, the pallas cat is sitting on a rock, the fog is giving mountain/highlands cover.

Pallas cat is a good choice as focus animal for mountain/highlands pack, but for zookeeper/anniversary pack, it's a very odd choice.

What if... they made several key artworks just to tease us a bout the final DLC? This one is a highland centered artwork because of the 3 animals, but later they will show another one with tropical animals, one with more savannah animals, till they have shown all animals. But the common thing will be the celebrational background items: the flags etc. And in the end, the zookeeper will be the reason they call it the 'Zookeper Celebration Animal Pack' or something?

In the end, we don't know a thing, beside the revealed things. They probably have a plan and the reason they didn't show a trailer or anything yet is because they want to prolong the speculation/tension/hype. Just be patience, in time all will be revealed.

This is my theory too - I think it is just possible we get another image with three thematically different animals today.

I mostly think it is the case because why would they give us key artwork but no full DLC title or release date or anything? It's because it's something different than we are used to I think. But that's just me speculation, not because I expect it to be. If it's a highland/Mountain animal pack I'll be content as well. I also think it's different because of the way they talk about the free update and it being a bit earlier than the anniversary so they are combining it this time. Someone might have said a celebretional/farewell pack idea, I think it will be like that. But who knows, patience is virtue and in time all will be revealed :)

Well, with Jurassic World Evolution 2 they only revealed some kind of shark, with everyone (correctly) assuming that it was the Megalodon.
Back then I remember seeing a lot of speculation around a possible "Cenozoic Pack" and I think that this is what's happening here too... Perhaps they're trying to mislead us intentionally

Can't wait for this bad boy to show up
I can't wait to see it in The Drylands then 😂
This take has always irked me because there has ALWAYS been a ‘most requested animal’, and there always will be.
Yes but secretary, coati and tree roo have been in the top for a long time now and with several obvious misses in packs that would've been perfect for them. And the time those pack camel out they were very high in the list already.

That's what i've been thinking as well. They said keep your eyes Open. That could mean the trailer is soon to be released or that similar concept art like this would be shown with different colors and different animals and that's the way they'll slowly reveal the roster and the theme.

Nah. It's way too centred on highland species to be anything other than a mountain-themed pack. If the Pallas' cat was an ocelot, or the baboon was a howler, or the markhor was a blackbuck, I'd buy into the collection idea, but to pick three animals associated with mountainous terrain for the cover art, together with the flags and Asian-style lanterns? Sure, the zookeeper is a little sus, but not convincing.

I've been thinking that maybe they could do a small sneak peak teaser soon with an African Savannah with Secretary Bird, Kirk's Dik-Dik and African Spurred

4 Teaser Images, 3 Animals in each Image

They didn't say the pack name, title or even the full roster. This is obviously a bigger pack then before that I believe. They would obviously want the pack 12 animal's with this anniversary animal to make the species 200 as a Marketing tool while we get more animals.

Its probably gonna be 15.00$ though, if it does happen.

That's the whole idea of misleading: focusing on one thing but hiding details that might lead others. It's not just the image, it's the whole way of presentation on the live stream and presenting this, also the African Leopard and the jelly cake: it will be part of the free update which will also function as the anniversary update.

Also, isn't this literally only the second time we got a cat as a headliner?
Third time. There's jaguar, lynx and arguably the lion for the base game. Nevertheless, cats sell aparently. So it makes sense for them.

On the mountain topic: I'm looking back at the old DLC covers. Europe has mountains, Oceania has mountains, Eurasia has mountains, North America has mountains, Conservation has mountains, Tropical has mountains, South America has mountains, Arctic has mountains, even Aquatic has mountains. It would be too funny if we don't get a mountain for a Mountains DLC (yet I still think this is what we get).

Could we expect another pack of:
Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo
Short Beaked Exhidna
And 6 other animals possibly including, coati, black bear, crowned pigeon, walrus, spider monkey and possibly others?

I think this is one of those times that Frontier should be upfront about whether or not a DLC is last. If this is the last but people hype themselves up to believing there'll be more, there's gonna be a sour taste for many and it could potentially hurt the company.
If Frontier said "hey guys, this is gonna be the last pack," the disappointment may not be as big a deal than staying silent
They should if it isnt, then we can all just celebrate and be groovy, but if it is its in their best interest to not say that sadly.
No one can be pouty and moody over a confirmed end of support if there is no confirmation.

Stating "this is the last" will make general reception and critic of anything harsher and to just be frank if this really was the last it would be quite the low note to fizzle out on, worse then barnyard imo.

Not that i have anything against the 3 animals or a mountain animals pack, im actually very pleased and could use all of them for both of my current projects, but ending on a big new mechanic and introducing something pretty much completly new to the game with petting zoos was far more a big grand last finale kind of thing to end on while this is just another standard pack

Personally, I think we may be going around in circles without having anything clear.

For me, the most significant thing is that, just like in the Barnyard DLC, elements of scenery such as lanterns and flags are shown shaded, which I think has to be very relevant to the chosen theme for this DLC.

But what I find most striking is that it is the only time so far that a zookeeper has been included in the keyart of the animal packs.

As for the rest, I think we know very little about what it will be about. Personally, I think it could be an infinite number of things.
