DLC18 discussion and predictions

Yeah the anaconda and eastern brown are okayish, they just dont have the same quality texture as the gila monster for example.
I think the eastern brown is similarly low quality to the boa constrictor, look at how different the head shape is for example. They really didn't capture the iconic "frowny browny" expression haha.

The eastern brown is also a huge missed opportunity in regards to colourmorphs - all the animals in the collage below are wild morphs!

It was ferus since release. It might have been corrected to bactrianus as of the barnyard DLC.
it has been bactrianus at least since december of 2022 because I have a list of all the scientific names I wrote to compare planet zoo to zoo tycoon and I wrote bactrianus as the camels species name and in the zoopedia it has been considered as domestic as long as i can remember

True.
Also looking at the picture makes me feel like eastern brown snake is a very unfitting name for this animal :D

Still annoyed about the lack of answers.
I imagine the African leopard and whatever else comes with that anniversary update is clearly not happening on the anniversary to give space for PC2.
Still doesn’t seem like it will arrive the same time as the new dlc.
What time would you expect the free “anniversary” update to be?

Would it be a stretch to call the Himalayan Brown Bear the worst animal inclusion in the game? It's a pretty obscure subspecies, it's near-indistinguishable from the Grizzly Bear, and if it weren't for its critically endangered status I don't think Frontier would have even considered adding it, much less in the base game.
its up there with the worst ideas but i would argue that the arctic wolf is even worse since it looks almost identical to the timber wolf except a slightly different white it was already covered by both the range and the naming of the grey wolf and added nothing new to the game. At least the himalayan brown bear is a different subspecies to the grizzly and exists on a different continent

This is a weird argument to me because its basing their distinctness entirely on the names Frontier gave them. While the timber wolf is just given the status of a generic grey wolf, it is clearly meant to represent a distinct subspecies from the Arctic wolf, which looks quite different. The grizzly bear and Himalayan brown bear are far more similar by comparison despite being specified to be different subspecies. If the timber wolf was specified to be the northwestern wolf or something with no other changes made would you be saying the same thing?

EDIT: Some images for comparison to show the much greater difference between the two wolves compared to the two bears

Yeah, and in a way Europe got the better attention. All the models are higher quality while NA has a weird wolf, a mini bison, and potato bears.
Europe also has the more, if not all, keystone animals than NA, I believe, as we're still missing the ABB.
And the white-tailed deer. I have no idea why no one wants to consider the deer as essential as the bear, but they go hand in hand for me. Absolutely indispensable species for any North American collection featuring native fauna. Honestly I’d want to go as far as including the coyote and North American river otter as well, but I know those are a totally lost cause. And if we’re counting birds, the sandhill crane and a turkey are right up there with them.

I swear I'll let this go, but here's my case:
1. The flags, lanterns, and tent are Nepalese/Tibetan. You can easily find pictures on Google that match. I don't think it's an Asia pack, we just had Eurasia and I think the color pallete would be red, because stereotypes. Which brings me to my next point.
2. If it was a Zookeeper's Collection Pack the theming would be less specific and the color would probably be green. I'd also suspect we'd have an animal like the secretary Bird in the key art. The cool blue definitely signifies mountains too me, but on a side note I was kind of hoping the color would be gray.
3. Lastly, yes there is a lack of obvious mountains in the back. I think that's a design flaw. However, look at the Pallas's cat, it's clearly on a rock ledge. The baboons are on a rock structure. And I think the markhors are in some sort of alpine meadow.
There, I rest my case

huh its been so long since I put the arctic next to the timber I forgot they are different sizes and yes even if it was renamed i would still consider the arctic wolf a bad idea

Could it be a more Asia/ Old World theme?

But those flags and lanterns are not unique to the Tibet/Himalayas and they have not been confirmed to represent that.

Also why is there a Zookeeper in the cover? Has that happened before? If it is the first time a Zookeeper is clearly and purposely shown here is because it has some significance imo.
