DLC18 discussion and predictions

We already have a relatively clear 7 habitat animals we can gather from the dictionary:
  • Hamadryas Baboon
  • Markhor
  • Pallas's Cat (only animal not leaked)
  • Goodfellow's Tree-Kangaroo
  • Short-Beaked Echidna
  • Coquerel's Sifaka
  • Kirk's Dik-Dik
Rather than assuming Frontier would break convention of having more than 7 habitat animals in a single DLC pack, I think the spurred tortoise will be a walkthrough exhibit animal.
I'm also assuming that "secretary" is general enough to not hint at secretary birds being added despite their overwhelming popularity (even if I'd prefer seriemas for more South American representation).
The echidna isn't confirmed via dictionary, as the word is likely there because of the song or maybe because of the mythological figure.

Besides, you are working with the assumption of an assumption of an assumption (or a assumption³, if you prefer it) to defend an idea only ya seems to agree without a base of any kind, doesn't that sound like a reason why it's probably not happening?

And how do we know it is spurred tortoise and not random spurred frog from mountains?
While certainly possible, there don't seen to be any relevant species that have a captive presence. And while it'd be far from the first exhibit animal added without really being in real-life zoos, I'm not wagering any bets that Frontier repeats that decision.

Wouldn't the fact that there's a song titled after echidnas only compliment their high demand and therefore reason to be added? And if was added to reference creatures of Greek mythology, why echidnas specifically and not ones more people recognise like cerberus and minotaurs? Conversely, the word secretary has very realistic applications. Though I will admit that the only related word I could find in the dictionary was "manager", so I suppose the rationale evens out.
The reason I'm working with is that people don't like having to micromanage tortoises (even with the update they made). Sometimes you want just a small breeding group and then end up with a small city's worth of them. Contraceptives are only a bandage fix for many players. And to be honest, I don't really want spurred tortoises in the walkthrough exhibit either I'm just thinking like Frontier and thinking how to get our dictionary words while also staying within the established formatting of Animal Packs. This is the baseline, and we may very well see something completely mind-blowing. I'm just calibrating my expectations based on trends and known evidence. People are free to disagree of course

Why make the African spurred tortoise, the largest tortoise after the Galapagos and aldabra, a WE animal? Doesn't make a lot of sense, if it were added it would a habitat animal. There's no reason to make it a WE animal.

I already mentioned the babies issue before. But in terms of it being the largest mainland tortoise, their average size range is actually pretty similar to the brown-throated sloth. If a walkthrough exhibit can hold multiple of those, a sulcata tortoise lawn seems very feasible.
Let's not pretend habitat-viable animals haven't been in exhibits since day one either

I thought that it was stated the sloths were made WE animals because of their slow metabolism and movement, not anything to do with size. The tortoise wouldn't suffer that, really. Not to mention that the WE has so far been used by flying or climbing animals, not land critters

Are you suggesting that African spurred tortoises don't move slowly? Even if faster than island giants, their smaller sizes still gives then a shorter stride.

My point exactly.
The whole point of a walkthrough exhibit is to have animals fly (bats, butterflies) or climb (sloth) all around the guests, especially above their heads.
How would the tortoises even get from one side of the exhibit to the other? Crossing the guest path seems obvious, but then we'd probably end up with guests clipping through the tortoises
