DLC18 discussion and predictions

Hard question though is there any animal in each DLC that you would trade for an habitat birds?

There are some i would, but some packs i wouldn't know what to "get rid off" to add a bird. For Barnyard for instance is easy for me, i would happily tarde both the donkey and pig for a duck and a turkey. But for Arid is a bit harder for me since yeah is ungulates galore but i like all of the ungulates we got, even the dama gazelle. I've come to like the lechwe in Wetlands even if i never needed it, but i would love a pelican or a duck instead.
Id would be pretty easy for me as i think there isnt one pack where i couldnt name atleast one animal i would trade for a bird. Even for packs were i love all the animals like tropical i would trade every one of them against an ibis for example, birds being this underepresented makes them just inherintly more desirable to me

Maybe not all, but I think most could use a bird actually
  • Arctic Wolf -> Long-Tailed Duck
  • Dingo -> Superb Lyrebird
  • Giant Otter -> Flightless Cormorant
  • Sun Bear -> Silver Pheasant
  • Fennec Fox -> Shoebill
  • Cougar -> Brown Pelican
  • Eurasian Lynx -> Western Capercallie
  • Amur Leopard -> Great Indian Bustard
  • Red Fox -> Black-Capped Night-Heron
  • Caracal -> Red-Legged Seriema
  • Lar Gibbon -> Crested Fireback
  • Sand Cat -> Puna Flamingo
  • Sloth Bear -> Black-Headed Ibis
  • Alpaca -> Domestic Turkey
  • Pallas's Cat -> Grey Crowned Crane

Those would be neat stuff to get IN ADDITION TO what we got.

I'm honestly tired of the entire toxic culture around videogames where people make lists of stuff to be removed. It is not productive, it just works as a way to tear down on the opinions of others, and it doesn't really provide any good discourse.

The prompt was either-or, and developers only have so much time in the day to make ends meet. Compromises are an unfortunate reality of any industry. Plus, limitations breed creativity.

Oh i thought i did. But um yeah i would pick

1. Kilspringer (i guess, i want blackbuck)
2. Secretary bird
3. Black and White colobus
4. Short beaked echidna
I should have made the klipspringer a blackbuck now that I think of it, but I guess I was trying to "theme" the pairs

Aw man, sorry about that. Losing a pet is hard. My condolences

Aw no, I'm so sorry 😥

Bearded dragons would be a great pick, and I'm really sorry about your pet.

I am so sorry to hear that, I used to have Bearded dragons which sadly passed away young, I hope we get Bearded Dragons to.

Sorry to hear that :c
Thank you guys for your condolences. It’s tough but it’s ok I know he’s all good now basking up there in the sky. Just sucks losing him it’s that guilty feeling as a pet owner when you think over and over what could I have done better. But you have to just accept it and accept that you did as best as you could. On the flip side I hope we get news today.

To be Honest I’d rather see an aquarium game than get aquariums in pz2. But I would like to see a few fish in the game.
I'd rather not; big zoos usually have an aquarium section, the largest aquarium in Europe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L'Oceanogràfic) has aviaries and land animals... no need to make entire separate games for that.

I was telling my mum about the game and her first question was "so do you have a big aquarium in your zoo?" It's so common for zoos to have some kind of aquarium section (and she knows how much I love aquariums. I'd probably prefer fish to flying birds tbh). And when I said no, she said "not even seahorses or jellyfish?"

I think an aquarium-only game might be a bit dry, and this is coming from a BIG aquarium fan. Also, many good aquariums have habitat birds and mammals such as penguins, otters and sealions. It would be a wasted effort I think to make two separate Planet games when they could be combined into one.

I just hope that aquariums and aviaries aren't full in a hypothetical sequel like they were in JWE 2. Yeah, they got better later on, but lagoons and aviaries are still so boring in JWE

It may be the generational shift as we are a decade apart, but I can't help but find more and more of that attitude around games; people start working on compromises in places where idealism should be the norm, and it is frankly disheartening to see people unable to expect a better future in stuff, and instead the discussion is about what may be lost.

Echidna > Tree Kangaroo because one is a family of mammal not yet represented. I think Tree Kangaroos are adorable though so maybe we could get both.
Blackbuck > Dik Dik I'd love both as well but presently, India needs an antelope more than Africa and the Blackbuck is very elegant
Black and White Colobus > Sifaka I personally don't need a fourth lemur unless its aye aye. Also, the Colobus type is not in game as far as close relatives go?
Mandarin Duck > Secretary Bird That's just pure opinion on my part... They both would add a lot. Actually the Secretary Bird would more because its a bird of prey as opposed to another waterfowl. I love waterfowl more though.
Klipspringer > Dik Dik I'd love to see the rock climbing cute little antelope!
Noone asked for it but those are what I'd chose based on pairs of animals.
So if the next update was an Old World (Eastern hemisphere) pack, and you got to choose between two different animals for each slot, (minus the 3 we already know) which would you pick?
If you want to be specific, you can select the exact species if you want.
  • Pallas Cat
  • Markhor
  • Hamadryas Baboon
  • Dik-dik/Klipspringer
  • Secretary Bird/Mandarin Duck
  • Sifaka/Black-and-White Colobus
  • Tree Kangaroo/Echidna
  • Chameleon/Cobra
I'd go with: Short-beaked Echidna, Blackbuck, Black and White Colobus and Mandarin Duck...

Very few of them, but for the most part no? I pretty much love every animal we have. But maybe this is the stuff I would change:
  1. This one hurts me a lot, but change the Dall sheep for a puffin.
  2. Change the proboscis monkey in the South East Asia pack for a langur
  3. I actually like the dama gazelle more than the addax, so change that one for another bird. Probably the grey crowned crane
  4. In the Eurasia pack change the sloth bear for a golden pheasant. I do like the saiga for being unique, but the sloth bear is just too similar to the other two black Asian bear species for me. I just find it crazy that Asia got its fifth bear (polar bear, himilayan brown bear, asiatic black bear, and the sun bear where already in game) before the Americas got the spectacled bear.
  5. In the barnyard pack I would change the sheep and the donkey for a Muscovy duck and a Guinea fowl. Just so people that don’t want 100% domestic animals they could get some cool animals.
  6. This one people might not like, but I might change the arctic fox for a bird. It can be any bird for NA, but best case scenario the arctic fox is just moved to the arctic pack and replaces the wolf. So I’ll go with the American Flamingo. (In my current roster the arctic pack is the polar bear, reindeer, puffin, and arctic fox)
  7. While this does also hurt me to say, but I would change the Llama in the South America pack to another monkey. I’ll say the black howler monkey for now. I would then move the llama to the barnyard pack and probably replace the alpaca.
That’s all I would change so far. So we would lose the proboscis monkey, dall sheep, addax, sloth bear, sheep, donkey, alpaca, and arctic wolf.

In the process we would gain:
  1. A puffin
  2. A langur
  3. The grey crowned crane
  4. Golden pheasant
  5. Muscovy duck
  6. Guinea fowl
  7. American flamingo
  8. Black howler monkey
Likewise in the process the llama is moved to barnyard and the arctic fox is moved to arctic.

I fully agree, personally I yearn for the days where we got massive expansion packs like in ZT2. Idealism should be the normative! It's just not what makes companies money unfortunately...

The Jurassic franchise as a whole has issues treating the animals as animals, and with proper zookeeping and animal husbandry, so the dinosaurs aren't really given many chances to do stuff.

Visitor killing animations are not that entertaining, no enrichment or shelter is off, the feeding mechanics are an unrealistic headache...

EDIT: Idealistic fans makes it so companies have to put out better products to have good reception, and thus better profits. The lack of idealism ends up making it easier to have said good reception.

I don't play the JW games, what's wrong with them? Just too static?
The animals aren't entirely static, but I think the problem is that they feel self-contained and isolated from the rest of the game
That, but also the guests can't interact with them like the regular animals. And the fact that they have limited decor and can't be combined like the other animals, they're just...there
