DLC18 discussion and predictions

Maybe. Maybe not. Look at Zoo Tycoon: talk went on for years and the community was still there. Smaller, but still alive. Even after PlanZo was released there is still a ZT2 community
I mean, the speculation will die but I suspect creation and sharing of said-creations will go on for years. At least until a sequel comes about.

The community won't "die" it'll just shift and pivot. But I suspect that will mostly be on Discord, X, YouTube, etc. Unless the forum rules change and they allow modded content. Because I think that'll blow up even more than it already has post-development.

Yeah I agree with this take too. If it's really just a highlands pack 7+1 or 7+mini scenery set (and without any Latin American animals) I can totally see one last pack. Though how long have we been saying it? But Highlands particular just Asian highlands seems like a really weird theme to end the support on. A larger than normal or multithemed pack would be more indictative of a finale.

If there's a good chance the theme doesn't seem like a final pack there will be much discussion until we're proven wrong or until the next release. If it's a fairly clear indicator of a finale pack, the forums will probably enjoy a "end of support" wrap up - favorite animals of the game's run, projects now being completed with a final official roster, that sort of thing. But that won't last long I think, and then yes, the forums will probably be pretty quiet from there on out.
It's interesting. Because I remember being really bummed by the Eurasian pack in a way. But then I looked at the roster and immediately thought: "No way is this the way they end things." But it's so hard to tell because... Just because something doesn't "feel" like the end that doesn't necessarily mean it's not.

It'll be easier to tell if it's the finale pack than it will be to say that it's not. What i mean is... If it's a generic "collection" pack or a larger-than-usual pack? Yeah, it'll be easy to be convinced that it's the end. But if it's a more standard theme (e.g., highlands) then it might still be the finale even though our brains are telling us it feels illogical. Same thing if they went with like, Old/New World style packs (or a similar name since that one is outdated--you get the idea).

Our best hope, TBH, is the former so we can be like, 90%+ sure that it's the end.. Or that we either get (a) an additional DLC# folder when the game updates, and/or (b) Frontier outright says another one is coming. That would be real nice. Especially if they indicate it would be coming before EOY. After this drought, a pack in October and one in December would feel even better than usual! I doubt that's going to happen but... It would be awesome. Hah.

Oh just IMAGINE how the community would react if there were folders for one or two more packs, that would feel great. There's just enough “essentials” that could fit in to the upcoming dlc plus two more hypotheticals that make sense. Because once you really get the habitat birds, primates, and the few odd balls and zoo essentials, there comes a point where casuals will see a pack full of obscure animals, that us forum freaks would die for, that they just wouldn't care to get. Like as much as a blackbuck, or Kudu, or like a spurred tortoise would be great for us, will casuals who play every so often and just build box habitats really care about that? Then again I have zero idea what the ratio of casuals to zoo nerds is for pz and how many are more so in between

Ugh, imagine the quietness and the insanity a week after the DLC drop. We'll be all "talk talk talk" about the DLC for about a week after and then it'll kinda go dead
On the speculation front probably, yeah, assuming its the last pack ofc.
But the PZ community as a whole will be around for years after. Getting no new stuff will maybe make some people go away, but certainly not all, and even then modders will likely supplying the game with new stuff to play around with for a long time. And especially with the steadily increasing quality and recent breakthroughs with bird mods i honestly cant wait to see what the future holds.
Im pretty sure PZ has a bright future ahead of it, even after official support ended

Oh well, when the doom-talk after Eurasia pack I argued that it made no sense opening a new Tiktok account for Planet Zoo if they were going to end the DLC support. I didn't think they would repurpose that account for another game.
Evil Masterplan 101:
1. Make new Social media acc for game with exlusive posts so players follow
2. Switch the account from the old game to the newly releasing one
3. Convert players of game 1 to players of game 2
4. Profit

(this is a joke)

That's not really what "ABC" species are in zoo jargon--they refer specifically to the charismatic megafauna that drive most casual zoogoers--elephants, giraffes, big cats, great apes, bears, rhinos, and hippos. For aquariums, add cetaceans, large sharks, and maybe pinnipeds.
Don't forget the Meerkats. They may be small but they pack a wallop when it comes to popularity.

Huh, I really thought we'd have something today. World Animal Day is on Saturday, so we won't get news then. I guess it's possible they drop something tomorrow, or save it for next week.

Edit: World Animal Day is in fact on Friday, so maybe tomorrow (or rather, for me it will be Saturday morning, because of these stupid time zones).
