DLC18 discussion and predictions

Oh just IMAGINE how the community would react if there were folders for one or two more packs, that would feel great.
People would go nuts if we get the "folder" treatment this time around. But I feel like that hasn't happened for a while... So I wouldn't bank on that. Hah.
There's just enough “essentials” that could fit in to the upcoming dlc plus two more hypotheticals that make sense. Because once you really get the habitat birds, primates, and the few odd balls and zoo essentials, there comes a point where casuals will see a pack full of obscure animals, that us forum freaks would die for, that they just wouldn't care to get. Like as much as a blackbuck, or Kudu, or like a spurred tortoise would be great for us, will casuals who play every so often and just build box habitats really care about that? Then again I have zero idea what the ratio of casuals to zoo nerds is for pz and how many are more so in between
Assuming the next pack is a standard-sized animal pack with a biome-focused theme, I do think they could squeeze 1-2 additional packs out of the game with high-demand critters. Especially if this next pack fully ignores Latin America and/or is missing some of the key critters (tree kangaroo, secretary bird, walrus) that people are clamoring for.

The question is: Would they do that? I don't really know. If this is a highlands pack, I could see a scenario where there's one last pack that's more general in theming. And potentially 'bigger.' In that way, they could pair Barnyard + the new pack and then just release the last one as a stand-alone.

To be honest, though, I've just gone ahead and convinced myself that this will be the final pack for now. I might change my mind when I see what this next pack includes in full... But for now...

If they really wait for the pack to announce on the zookeepers day at Friday then that probably means its some kind of zookeeper collection and it is probably it for PZ.
That's a fair assumption! I actually had a bit of "fun" with graphic design today, took the key art, and put the PZ logo over it with some of the purported pack names/themes. And when you put the words there for a lot of them... The key art suddenly makes sense. LOL. So I'm just as confused as ever!
But 4 October is world animal day, right? Or is it world zookeeper day? I'm sure when they released the North America pack they said world animal day.
October 4th is both World Animal Day and Zookeeper Day.

October 4th is both World Animal Day and Zookeeper Day.
Massive Copium Theory is about to be released.

What if they put a Zoo keeper shadow to represent the theme of the next pack and when its going to be release. A Collection pack released on World Zoo Keeper Day.

Watching them struggle to find something for X was a treat

World Animal Day is in fact on Friday, so maybe tomorrow (or rather, for me it will be Saturday morning, because of these stupid time zones).
That's an advantage for me because I usually get news 1st thing in the morning and don't have any of the waiting around like the folks in Europe

Africa has more animals in-game, but North America currently has more unique animals. African animals are all similar in needs, but NA has skunks, canines, beavers, gators, etc.
Cant really subscribe to that take, just by the base of africa actually featuring birds, both a monitor and a tortoise, 2 very different apes, lemures aka monkeys light, mandrill and baboon aka monkey heavy, a much larger variety in both ungulates and carnivorans, list goes on and on.

Not to mention standouts like giraffe, dromedary, hippo, rhino and buffallo being 5 ungulates, the same nr of NAs total wild ungulates.

Saying NA is more diverse then Africa is just by numbers alone just wrong.
The only thing it truly got for itself that africa hasnt are pinnipeds and bears, everything else has an equal or greater variety in africa

Long time lurker, first time poster. Thought I’d chime in before an announcement comes down the pipe and speculation season is over.

Celebration Pack:
It’s gotta be a Celebration Pack, right? Lanterns, flags, a festival tent in the back of the promo image. Heck, that Pallas cat is smiling, I just know it! Sad, excited, and honestly relieved at the thought of this being the last pack, a final sendoff that rounds the game to 200 animals and puts it to bed. Don’t get me wrong, two final packs would be amazing, especially if it’s an Afro-Eurasia + Americas-Oceania combo. Unlikely though.

NWMs:
I’m most disappointed about the overall lack of new world monkeys that won’t be possible to recover. To me, they’re quintessential zoo animals. Black-handed spider monkeys are far and away my favorite, but howlers and squirrel monkeys are both so charming. Honestly, the squirrel monkey would've been an amazing "clone" for the anniversary animal, but hey, so it goes. And the funny thing is, NWMs must be hard to make no doubt, but Frontier did pretty great with the capuchin, it’s one of my favorite animals in game… the squirrel monkey might’ve been a layup, and the howler and spider would’ve built on fun mechanics that they’ve introduced like choruses and brachiation.
Best case scenario is we get one in a celebration pack (spider monkey, please God!), and maybe modders can revisit the others using new behaviors or a hypothetical developer’s toolkit dropped later on down the line… Fingers crossed!

Walkthroughs:
I wouldn’t be mad if we had another sloth or bat as the next/last walkthrough. Love the bats. Dream scenario, it would be hummingbirds or rainbow lorikeets, could you imagine?! Great way to sneak in unique, iconic birds at the end here. It would be a big sigh of relief that like, yes, finally! The walkthroughs were an avenue for birds after all!

Oddballs:
Is it too late to hope for a burrowing owl addition? Definitely not in the dictionary leak, right? But still cool. Really funny little guys with a wide range. They’re exceptionally interesting terrestrial bird of prey alongside a secretary bird. In my local zoo they live alongside desert tortoises and it’s a really neat combo. Is it too much to ask?

Conclusion:
If that dictionary-inspired pack came down the pipe as a Celebration Pack, it would be one of the best since the Wetlands or Grasslands pack, IMO. Regardless of the roster, I’ll be pretty content with the Hamadryas baboons no matter what — I’m building some wild monkey mountains and canyons. The idea of building modest Himalayan/Tibetan sections is also fun. Too bad about the lack of birds and monkeys will also be a shame… but things aren't so bad.

I completely forgot about primates😅
As well as some of the tropical species; I was thinking only Savannah animals.
However, I will say that North America includes armadillos, anteaters, crocodilians, tapirs, and mustelids and their kin (wolverine and skunk)

I was thinking if we were to get another 3 packs (so we would have a total of 20 packs) and this upcoming one was a highlands pack or whatever, and it were to be pretty inclusive in terms of continents (at least one animal from NA, SA, and OC), then we were to get a LatAm or an Americas pack for the following one with a good selection of CA/SA animals, and then one final pack that covers the missing highly requested animals that might not fit with the other two packs (another monkey, walrus/muskox, secretary bird, echidna, etc.) along with generally popular zoo animals (colobus, kudu, can't think of any others rn oops), I would say we would be in a good position for the final roster.

Yeah getting more packs would be awesome, I’m not counting on it though. Unless I hear confirmation I’m not gonna make myself think more is 100% coming. Even if I am disappointed by this next packs roster. Which we have yet to see what that full roster is!

But if we made it to 20 DLCs, yeah that would be awesome!

Oh I 98% think this next one is the last. I was just thinking that in order to get the most satisfaction out of a basic habitat roster, that at least has a good global coverage along with most common zoo animals, two more after would be probably the best before many will say “do we really need this pack/animal?”

On that front I agree, unless Frontier wants to also give me a bird focused pack too.
I mean if this is a world wide mountains pack following that up with another South America pack and then finally a zoo keeper type pack isn’t a bad idea.

Oh, I hope it's the donkey sound!!
It would be a dream come true, but I'm not counting on it, tbh. But it was my first thought.

This gets me super excited, to be honest. I'd rather have a zookeeper pack than a mountain pack. But I'm also one of the few persons really okay with PZ to end here, after I saw Planet Coaster 2.
