Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

The opening section for Shattered Space should be heavily pointed at for any future suggestions of space legs for Elite - first-person zero-G exploration through a spooky installation; I kept thinking how much I’d like to explore Elite’s tragic megaships like this and finding the voice logs in (dead, floating) person 😬
The opening does look cool.

Still waiting for any space game to offer a space hulk zero-g experience where you could literally spend game weeks reinstating the hull, re-powering systems, bringing back life support, electricity, mechanical systems (water, gas etc.), fixing electronics and patching damaged sections... Over different segments of the ship. Re-instating farms and growing areas, zero-G, segments that run for miles, bringing back online travel systems, reprogramming 'bots and all that. All in a mini-game. I feel ATM that's closest with SF and the whole mod thing because modders could do it but would love something like that.

I'm still waiting for the radio message to start the DLC off...doesn't seem to work for me 🤷‍♂️
I’ve seen comments about mods possibly breaking the quest start - and also players missing an important trigger:
  • Perform a grav-jump to any orbit that is not tied to a current mission or encounter.

And also have done this : completed the introductionary quest “One Small Step” whether on your first playthrough or on a New Game Plus run

I’d guess most players would’ve already done the first mission prior Shattered Space (unless using the alternate start mod) but it might be easy to miss that you need to grav jump to a non-mission orbit.

Done all the necessary bits...I'm level 63 on my 4th time down the rabbithole (this playthrough) and just about to head off to meet up with the Hunter and the Emissary once again for the final showdown. I've done the orbital parking bit all to no avail so far so I reckon it's one or more of the mods that's breaking it.

I just deselected the broken mission ( ECS constant being in permanent orbit at porima) and jumped to a none mission/ selettled system and it popped up. But having major issues with stuttering even at my 30 FPS console mode 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, in all my playthroughs I think the Constant moved the once, I used to come across it randomly around the galaxy during that playthrough...but had no idea what to do with it once it did leave Porima, there was no new dialogue with the rather tasty Dianna Breckenridge or other missions for the crew apart from the busy work of bringing letters to various descendants when I did come across it 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I managed to get potatoes for the mission before actually getting it and found I didn't need it and the letters ?? Well Abe wouldn't give me them ....

I discovered what the problem was with Shattered Space not initializing...I hadn't installed it

I assumed the small update patch for Starfield included the DLC, obviously it didn't...So, I downloaded the 8.7Gb DLC, fired up Starfield and the first time I grav jumped, shattered space kicked in... everything works just fine and dandy now.

No accounting for stupidity, is there?

In an odd and unhelpful way SF reminded me of playing an early Resident Evil game on a PS2, where every door was another loading screen.

Add in the cloned mini bases and side quests, with an utterly bizarre building interface (for me at least) and my interest in SF was exhausted way before the end of my first playthrough.

I had my '50 hours of fun' out of it so I'm not complaining, it's just one of those games that I shrugged and uninstalled once I had my fill. I glanced at the DLC, but would wait for a deep sale before considering it.

Well that's me completed the DLC . It was fun I liked that I didn't have a clue about where everything was but again with 4 different outcomes but they really don't change the game. Andreja is my only companion but no memtion of me being accepted accepted by the "great serpent" I won't do any more playthroughs as it's getting tiresome storyline was fun with a few missions that had me wondering if the sky was going to fall which added to the fun. Had a few issues with stuttering and freezing and the voices being echoy ?? After switching off,off line , no mods ( no change ) I ended up a mod and that cleared the issue . Now back to MMS to get my settlement to S and back to Elite .
Will wait another year to see if they can fix the ECS constant missions or another short DLC .

wait until it's for free, 30 bucks is just robbery

I'm full on into ship building again. I don't quite have enough credits and high enough level yet to fully build the things, so pictures are still a bit off. Can't build the cruiser before the end of the month, as I'm waiting for a very special landing bay mod to be released that I know is coming.

No, that's a building. :)
I've arrived at Dazra now, and it is an M class, mostly Deimos. But that thing won't fly ever again, the state it's in is just disgusting. Meanwhile my Frontier II is coming along nicely, even though I still need a few more millions. I'll tackle the Razorfeaf II after that. That one is going to be a whole other level. Until any of them are finished I'll just fly the Star Eagle upgraded to C class.

Triple post by now, but meh. It still hasn't got the interior fully implemented, and no guns to fight, but it is flight ready and shielded at least. That's 214m of ship, almost the same as the Beluga. And yes, that tiny thing on the pad is the buggy.
