DLC18 discussion and predictions

I can see this, but it's still surprising to me that they've gone for absolute silence on this particular day. How long does it really take for someone - anyone - to put a two-line message on social media?

I guess we could still see something today, and if we do I will eat humble pie, but I'm not expecting it this late in the day.
Like I said, I'm not saying there's any reason to go a full week without any posts (even non-substantive screenshots a la the Moo Deng post from last Friday) but... I think people take for granted what goes into some of these posts. There's probably multiple rounds of review/approval, careful consideration to what will/won't work as far as content and timing, etc. What reads to us as a "two-line message" can take hours to put together. They could have an idea for the text that a person reviewing it absolutely hates and they have to go back to the drawing board.

Like, that Moo Deng post? The idea came, then they had to request the art from somebody, figure out what exactly to say, etc.

I do think it's really odd to go a full week without any activity at all especially after how news-heavy the week before was. Though maybe that's why this happened: "Last week was so hectic with PZ! Let's take a break and focus on PlanCo2 exclusively." It's a bit misguided, but I could see that happening. Especially if they just have 1-2 people working across the socials.

The game's socials definitely were put on induced coma at this point other than the eventual console pack activity bursts, while the instagram account has been dead for like a year already. I was shocked they even did that Moo deng post. Whatever this means towards the future of paid content, Frontier has shown no intention to keep good communication or basic marketing for their biggest money maker, specially after firing said staff.

My new theory is that Frontier is so understaffed, they basically FORGOT about World Animal Day. It didn't occur to them this would have been the perfect time marketing-wise to drop the new trailer and attract potentially even more ppl to learn about the game's existence.

In previous years, we had a much more extensive team who would nail all this down because they were exclusively focused on PZ; now you have two people trying to do everything and they missed this.

I did wonder that as well!

This community sometimes has a problem, often around new DLC announcement, to "call it" in advance, and that's understandably due to excitement of what's to come.

But oscillations from "Surely it's today!" without anyone promising anything today, to "We have been forgotten" while there's still half a day left can be somewhat tiring.

I'm all for hype and discussion, but we don't need to create this artifical tension to follow along 😁

Wasnt NA animal pack last time Frontier acknowledged World Animal Day?
I'm sure they've said something about it at some point in the last few years. But they don't always tie announcements to it, if that's what you're getting at...

That said, given the timing of everything? I can see why people were thinking we might get something today. It would make sense for them to do an announce/reveal the week after a tease, the day itself lends to a post on the socials, etc. Even if it's on a Friday. :ROFLMAO:

Yes stuff has been announced this late (tropical and grasslands) yes stuff has been announced on Friday (Twilight, Grasslands, Eurasia)

We don’t need to be so dramatic
Nope, Tropical and Grasslands were announced at 2pm UK time. We're nearing 4pm now. Still a very small sliver of a chance than something's coming today but I'm not counting on it anymore.

It's really weird behaviour to tell us to watch their socials and then give us...bleak emptiness

I can totally understand if any of the things you are stating are true. They are likely understaffed and overworked at times. I don't particularly blame the workers in any way, but the decision making is lacking whether there is one employee churning out every animal or dozens working on every species.

To me it makes no sense to show the keyart in the stream and post the next day that news is coming soon. They built this hype train themselves and the "outrage" (for lack of a better term) is self inflicted. They chose to highlight the keyart and the new pack over a week before another hint would be shared, really before anything is shared at all.

Typically teasers were explained within a day or two, and if we don't get news today it will be 10-14 days of a tease being unanswered. I'd rather have never seen the keyart and kept with the attitude of "'The DLC will come when it comes because they said later this year." I was expecting something but not consistently checking and growing frustrated seeing moo deng as the only news for a whole week.

Personally, I knew something was coming from the announcement of another animal pack later this year. I didn't need the keyart to tell me something was coming. All that did was get me excited enough to check daily for absolute silence in terms of community engagment. For months, I just checked every now and then for news.

I think most would be much less outraged, and much more sane, if Frontier posted that teaser image today as a world animal day celebration and said stay tuned for an announcement and posted the trailer next week (if ready). That gives us a few days for hype and avoids 4-7 days of why is there silence as we quietly grow more frustrated with a lack of communication.

I bet they are nowhere near done with this pack and are scrambling due to staffing/workloads. They teased what little they have because it’s all they have. This is looking like a November-December pack.

Nah, I don't think they'd tease a pack and not have it being close to announcing. That'd be a poor move because then they wouldn't fulfill deadlines and it'll be like a false promise

November-December will be all about Planet Coaster 2. Release in November, likely first DLC in December.

I would be very surprised if they didn't want to get Planet Zoo out of the way this month
