DLC18 discussion and predictions

They could at least try and hype up these again, which I guess have been featured for a year now

I am really at a loss with Frontier's thinking. I respect the pack not being out. I would have waited however long without feeling any real frustration towards the company.

But, whoever thought it was a good idea to share the keyart made a huge mistake. I'd rather the unlocked be absolutely nothing about PZ (as was the norm anyways).

Then (if they intend to announce next week, if not then hold off until the week before you will share news)

On Tuesday of this week share that the Anniversary will be celebrated early this year with an event and update.

On Wednesday post African Leopard as the free anniversary animal.

On Thursday post some form of a teaser with a Pallas cat tail or Hamadryas tuft

On Friday share the key art that was ready.

Then announce the full reveal next Tuesday for a typical schedule.

And I understand the posts need to be approved and reviewed and all of that, but all of these posts (aside from the pallas cat tail) were approved and just thrown out over a 24 hour period of time over a week early.

If the trailer and DLC was not "coming soon," they should have postponed any announcements and spread out the news to keep hype going without the prolonged, annoying, and frustrating silence.

The thing is, they literally said that it was coming in a couple of weeks. Not more info in a couple of weeks, not at some vague unspecified point in the future. So to go from that to complete silence is just odd, even if they do have a much reduced team.
After saying, "A a new animal pack is coming soon. Stay tuned for more Information!"

We did the stay tuned portion. What information?

I can totally understand if any of the things you are stating are true. They are likely understaffed and overworked at times. I don't particularly blame the workers in any way, but the decision making is lacking whether there is one employee churning out every animal or dozens working on every species.

To me it makes no sense to show the keyart in the stream and post the next day that news is coming soon. They built this hype train themselves and the "outrage" (for lack of a better term) is self inflicted. They chose to highlight the keyart and the new pack over a week before another hint would be shared, really before anything is shared at all.

Typically teasers were explained within a day or two, and if we don't get news today it will be 10-14 days of a tease being unanswered. I'd rather have never seen the keyart and kept with the attitude of "'The DLC will come when it comes because they said later this year." I was expecting something but not consistently checking and growing frustrated seeing moo deng as the only news for a whole week.

Personally, I knew something was coming from the announcement of another animal pack later this year. I didn't need the keyart to tell me something was coming. All that did was get me excited enough to check daily for absolute silence in terms of community engagment. For months, I just checked every now and then for news.

I think most would be much less outraged, and much more sane, if Frontier posted that teaser image today as a world animal day celebration and said stay tuned for an announcement and posted the trailer next week (if ready). That gives us a few days for hype and avoids 4-7 days of why is there silence as we quietly grow more frustrated with a lack of communication.
I agree with everything here. It all boils down to "decision-making." Revealing key art, telling folks to watch the socials, and saying the pack was coming in a "couple of weeks" is all well and good but to then follow it up with a week of silence is pretty bonkers. The community is overreacting a bit, TBH, but it doesn't make it any less odd on Frontier's part. Haha.

I felt for sure they were going to slow-reveal more screenshots about the free update and get us some sort of new info this week because, well, that's how things usually work. In hindsight, them not showing us anything or just showing us the leopard on the livestream and saying "we've got more news coming soon for our PC players and Planet Zoo's five-year anniversary! Stay tuned!" And then they could have used this week to show us the leopard/free update, then reveal the key art on Wednesday... That would push everything out a week.

At this point, I have absolutely no idea what to think. We may be waiting another full week for news if the pack isn't releasing until the 22nd... Which, y'know, is fine. It'll be ready when it's ready. It's just a very strange move on Frontier's part.

This is purely speculative, but if we got an announcement next Tuesday on the 8th, how are we feeling about a release date on the 22nd? That seems like a reasonable release date to me.
The 22nd is what I'm thinking now. Question is: When will they announce it? If it's a week before it would be on the 15th. If it's a bigger pack with more reveals next week could make sense but... I think most people aren't banking on that at this point.

So yeah, I'm leaning toward the 22nd now with a reveal during the week of the 15th.

It is not even about the announcement anymore for me, it is the lack of any communication that frustrates me. Yeah, their team is probably not as big as it used to be and they have PC2 in addition to spend their time on, but comon, a single post with recycled screenshot does NOT take that much effort. And it can be scheduled in advance…
Yep. I've been on the Forums since a bit before the Aquatic DLC was released, and I can remember people complaining about the lack of communication from Frontier even back then. So while I'm also sympathetic that Frontier likely has fewer staff on PZ, and PC2 is clearly a priority, that argument would carry a lot more weight if this was a new thing.
When you have poor communication with a passionate fanbase, you get excitement and speculation, but you also get frustration, disappointment and anger. And making it more frustrating is, like you said, it doesn't take a ton of effort - just a single post here or there.
