DLC18 discussion and predictions

Dude, as someone from the country where the takin originated, I can tell you responsibly that the takin is much more robust, especially the adult male takin. They can grow up to nearly 300 kg, and the shoulder height of a large individual is 1.3 meters, not about 1 meter. The maximum weight of a markhor is about 110 kg, a weight difference of nearly three times, which cannot be reflected in the game at all. The following is a sub-adult takin, and see how they compare to a family car.View attachment 404805View attachment 404806
This is all well and good, but if you feel so strongly about this: Why not start a thread suggesting the change to Frontier? You can debate with folks in this thread all you want but... If you want it to get changed, that's your best bet. And it would probably be a more productive use of time, TBH.

Takin and Muskox are both animals you think are huge until you see them in person lol.

It's a shame we never got the Muskox because I know there would be loads of people complaining they are too small when really they aren't actually that big.
On opposite to aardvarks, i feel most people think of them as smallish mammals like armadillos until they realize they are actually surprisingly huge and can get up to 65kg

I said it in the feedback section, I just want more people to know, what's wrong with this?

It doesn't matter what country lol, takin don't magically shrink the moment they leave china. I've seen small takin around 1 metre (hence my statement )frontier may have used the same zoo to research them.
What do you mean? The takin in the zoos that frontier referenced were all very small? The takin will not get smaller after leaving China... If I tell you that the takin in zoos in Europe and the United States are the offspring of several individuals, frequent inbreeding will lead to a reduction in size, which is very normal. Also, I have seen takin with a shoulder height of 1 meter, and what is the connection with the wrong size in the game?

Adult spurred tortoise is second biggest animal in the pack after male spectacled bear and by looking at in game you probably wouldn't be able to tell that.

I'd say the markhor is still bigger, although they're more or less in the same range depending what you look at (length, height or weight).

I don't disagree that the takin is larger or more robust, but it's not as drastic as you make it seem. I also hate when people pick random images online that best fit their argument. You picked a rather small individual Markhor and an image of multiple takin, where the one closest to a human is elevated on its front legs, making it taller. It is like posting the following to only use photos that support your opinion.

Male spurred tortoise at max size (120 kg) would be tad larger than male markhor (110 kg). Third largest tortoise no without a reason. In this case goat is taller whereas tortoise wider so as you said depends on how you look at it.

I think frontier made it so small so it can fit into a burrow l u l.

Hahaha, in fact, in another thread, a breeder agreed with my point of view. His work experience has been with takin and markhor. In addition, according to the perspective principle of the camera, "near is big, far is small" rule (anyone who has accumulated a little knowledge of photography knows what I am talking about), the picture you posted is very common, because hunters often use this perspective principle to make their prey appear bigger. Using this principle, I can easily make a picture of me taller than the Empire State Building in New York. In addition, I posted a picture with multiple takins just to illustrate the size of male takins, but it cannot be seen in the game. I did not draw people's attention to the one with its feet raised. As long as you look at the picture carefully, you should have an objective understanding of how big the one on the far right is. If you want to see hunting pictures, okay, let me post some more.
Please note that the size of a human face varies greatly depending on the distance from the camera.

Hey man,

You’re the one making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Takin are denser and weigh a great deal more. In terms of height and length, they aren’t actually that dissimilar. Half foot taller and about a foot longer in favor of the takin.

But hey, I’m sorry you get offended whenever someone disagrees with you. Just hate when people say look at these two images with no context as if it proves an entire point. I could post an image of a large kudu and a small African buffalo and be like “kudu is so much bigger”

But, I already agreed it’s more robust as the weight is the key category they differ in size.

Enjoy your day.

Well done my friends...it's over!
I say goodbye to all of you here on this forum, I loved seeing the debates about which animals would be released, I hardly ever speak out but I've always been here!
I'm a little sad because I didn't get my birds.

See you on the PZ2 forum if it ever exists! Health and peace to you all.

It's not over yet. We will have update 1.18.1 at least. People seem to be in a rush to kill this game and bury it 😅
Man, I wish there was still an update that would add easy to do biggest community wishes, like gridded mesh, triangle and slope mesh pieces, arctic fox burrow, emu walk-about, tortoise resize and the likes. All relatively easy to implement without the need of modeling work and stuff.

That would make the rather barren update 1.18 way better.
