Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

People in the thread saying they are ok with this.

I guess these people are of the younger persuasion and haven't yet felt death's icy grip.

Chris Roberts will be hurtling torwards his 70s and some of the fools
That are "ok" with it could be dead or may have age related impairment that prevents them from "pre-ordering" over priced never delivered digital clown goodybags anymore.

A basic ethical consideration of crowdfunding a game is to be realistic about the life span of the ones you take cash from.

So I am finally watching this:

I will share my completely useless opinion some time after.

(The Citizens of Spectrum generally seem a bit underwhelmed :))
Oh my LOL. That pacing is horrible, and kills the whole delicious smell of the really old, Robertsesque (?) Sci-Fi cheese. He has not developed at all over the years, he merely has more money and better technology at his disposal.

Some cool pew-pewy moments during the battle, mostly from the outside, but the entire "pan the camera or transition it to first person" is so old. It is supposed to be "immersive", but is completely detrimental to the dramaturgy of the entire scene. Over an hour of a rather sub-standard movie with stiff mocap intermixed with some boring turret gameplay.

And those Vanduul combat animations. Hopefully still not finished.

That game is going to be a slog, if it ever comes out. CI can really undercook while cooking for fifteen years.

They can sell anything. CIG whole business model is essentially the bamboozling of players to sell them the impossible dream of what the game can be, and not to sell them the reality of what the broken and bugged game actually is. We just saw that in action today.

And I am pretty sure the market will fall for it again this year, like previous ones. This will not stop unless there is an external intervention be it from regulators or from private initiatives. Or unless I am wrong and people stop falling for it.
Completely agreed. I want to believe people will wake up from it, but I've seen too many fall for the same promises time and time again. There are people buying Tesla Cybertrucks for $100,000 a pop, even as they have been repeatedly recalled, and just about every video and news clip you see of them is one of them catching on fire, shutting down in the middle of the road, self driving toward pedestrians, axles breaking while turning, and so on and so on, and yet there are people who think Elon Musk is a genius. I think some people get off on it, I swear to Gort.

you cant ccu to a warbond version. thats the whole point of warbond. has to be 100% new money.
I thought so too, but apparently, now you can...I didn't use spare store credit to do the deed like I usually do for CCU's. I used a Mule LTI token I had already CCU'd to something else + cash to grab the warbond Starlancer. Gutted that the loaner is a Freelancer max, the loaner for the TAC version of the Starlancer is a MIS

Unless it's a store bug that Ci~G haven't picked up on amidst all the citcon excitement. 🤷‍♂️

List of all promises made during CitizenCon (for the records, add if any missing) - (20 October 2024)

It's too long to put here. This is like a list of dreams and visions for SC.
Would be great to merge all the 2023 ones still missing.

Pro comment:
I signed up for Star Citizen on November 27th, 2015. It'll be nine years ago in one month. I only mention how long ago it was because I'm 99% sure I've seen every one of these claims before, multiple times. The only new terms to hit my ears were "Genesis" and "Starchitecht". Took me a minute to recover from the convulsions on the 2nd one there, but I'm OK.

Everything else in this post, including the player-contested space stations, is more than half a decade old. That tidbit was floated out along with Bengals and such, weren't it? So was all the building . Remember land claims? This is all rehashed stuff. Apex creatures? Oh, like a sandworm?

I guess they finally admitted that server meshing is for nothing and they'll instance the game anyhow, and that's technically a new reveal, even though everyone knew it was coming.

Poll is fun. Comments are really fun. Faithful and skeptics battling it out.

Lol 😁

Crashes aside, there’s probably not another game that has a prologue that has that much action. Mostly there aren’t movies that have that much action in there. Gladiator has three minutes of battle and eight minutes of prologue. This was an hour of crazy stuff.
