Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

i dont mind it in Elite because i am not forced to play with other players... also for single player games having flat out upgrades is par for the course (just like elite, elite 2 and 1st encounters had, as well as Dangerous and in the CRoberts camp wing commander and privateer has as well.

but given it looks like SC wont have any mitigation like that, and PvP is going to have an undodgeable component...i can see this being an issue.

mind you it is nothing new, the moment some ships had free life time insurance that was a problem imo.
I wonder if the direction they're going in recently is to cater to the Chinese market?
The west seems pretty tired of Star Citizen now going by how skeptical random comments are.

I dunno if I could go back to IL2 after the developers posted some nonsense a while back.

Which is a shame, as their IL2 Korea game was looking particularly tasty.

I tend to just play Flying Circus rather than the WW2 stuff in IL2 (As much as I still buy all the collectors planes and great battles maps). A replacement for Rise of Flight...although I still have that and all it's mods installed too :)

i guess that is the fine line isnt it................. see i would say the above IS more satire. it is completely obvious what it is they are copying, i guess that is down to the hello kitty IP holders if they think it is funny or stealing.
not a million miles from itchy and scratchy on the simpsons or the social media platform "FriendFace" in the IT crowd imo. (oh and how could i forget the micky take of twitter in the GTA series (and the irony there is the name IS apt - that is decent satire imo )) - i wont post here as it could be considered mildly offensive ;)
CIG stealing that IP isn't satire, this is bizarre. That's theft, used in their commercial game product thing to make them money. The person who created the fake toy image wasn't making money from it I imagine.

Like this person wasn't making money from stealing Chris's beautiful face.

Last thing I saw them produce I was interested in was a promise of a Swordfish in Cliffs of Dover... which would have been a hoot.

Gotta love a biplane in the WW2 era.

I think, like I mention in my last post, its to cater for the 'big group' gameplay that they seem to be very much in favour of.
Yeah, but those organized gameplay relies on large enough population to make it work (EVE). Either that or some serious PVE hook that encourage coop gameplay like Wildlands or ArmA. The buy the bestest ship looks to me to benefit the single players with a win at all cost mentality because unless an org can share assets and ships when the player who owns the best ship isn't online the group will still die to one griefer with the bestest ship.

What you day could very well be what CIG is aiming for, but they're not showing they could achive that.

Someone not happy with CIG basically adding engineering like in ED.
Engineering was the sole reason I stopped playing ED...but entirely due to the implementation of it rather than the content. We'll see how Ci~G implement it, if and when it happens...but from what was described, I'm not too overly upset about it. Done well...which would almost be a first from Ci~G outside of mining, refining and salvage which are pretty good...when they work...and from what I took from the presentation, it doesn't sound too bad 🤷‍♂️

My main takeaway from citcon though...and my main concern...is that they're totally redesigning the entire game...basically, all the panels and presentations were talking about a new game starting from scratch with even core game engine mechanics being redone far outside of what we now have. It was like they were talking about a star citizen 2...and with no mention of a realistic timescale to do it all in.

I saw a video this morning on youtube with the opening of the demo split screen, 2023 vs 2024 version (ships arrive, fly through asteroids, arrive at ship fleet).

There's the reason. They are doing everything over and over and over. Watching it you realise it's not the same, it's not a texture reskin, it's redone over and over.

Every year.

It's a scam.

Oooooh, I must be a hater!
I guess you're talking about this one:

funny to see obvious downgrade, but I assume 2023 was pre-rendered because impossible to run realtime with as much details.

I'd add it's pretty obvious its their M.O. since the beginning, just by mentionning the numerous times the Mess Hall was present in the monthly reports :)

Oh by the way, anyone fainted from Stendhal Syndrome during the Mess Hall scene?

And that without having completed, by far, the original promises in star citizen 1, which makes this star citizen 2 pretty much like.... star citizen 1 just with a different set of powerpoint slides.

What will blow our heads though is realizing that CIG can do this all over again for a star citizen 3 in a few years as long as we keep falling for it and keeping up any kind of missplaced hope.

Not the figurative 'we' though, I'll either be dead or just given up the waiting having sold all my SC chattels on the grey market for 20% of what I paid for them, it'll be a whole new generational breed of SC backer doing it by then :)

Did we finally get to see procedural eggs in the mess hall scene?

Been waiting for those for a decade now!

Got a source for this bit C?

I've always been intrigued by what those two are pulling, but AFAIK we don't have a public source. (Just Erin's pay via UK filings).

These are estimates Based on tax filings up to 2021 (original source). It may be inaccurate though.

Comment by VeritasXIV: "How the hell are the people on the Star Citizen forums letting Chris Roberts get away with paying himself $567,843.79 EACH YEAR, along with $400,602.45 for hos brother Erin, + a similar 6 figure amount for Sandi who does NOTHING?" ...... "That's $1.3 MILLION dollars per year going to his family rather than to trying to hire 1 of like 20 people on earth who have the technical skills required to actually create the netcode to make Star Citizen even close to the MMO Chris Roberts pitched us."

See CLOUD IMPERIUM UK LTD. filing history:

14 Oct 2021Group of companies' accounts made up to 31 December 2020

The highest paid director must be Chris Roberts.

Page 29:
Remuneration disclosed above includes the following amounts paid to the highest paid director:

In 2020:

  • £292,322 (Remuneration for qualifying services)
  • £12,875 (Group pension contributions to defined contributions schemes)
Total: £305,197 = $414,372 USD on 31 December 2020. VeritasXIV mentioned a higher figure. Maybe that includes additional benefits.

This is only Cloud Imperium UK. There is also Cloud Imperium US LLC and some subsidiaries in the Cloud Imperium Group.
