DLC18 discussion and predictions

I like this idea. Is hard to do without knowing the roster for base game though.
You don’t have to! That will be the cool idea. You can just say: hey here is a cool Scenery Pack I made. Then you post it. If it turns out some of the animals will be in base game PZ2 then that’s even cooler! We will have a long time to a sequel, but I know people love coming up with packs and speculating animals. So this thread would give them a dedicated outlet.

Oh yeah. I have several ideas haha

When do we think they’ll announce PZ2?
Well it could be the unannounced game they have, I think for FY26? so around a year and a half for it to be announced. However it could be further down the line, planet coaster was around a 5 year gap I believe.

I wouldn't expect it to be announced until planet coaster starts wrapping up support as frontier are still yet to have 2 planet games out and receiving new content at the same time

It's the combination of the two. Like, when you think of the themes of most packs, the packs that could have south american animals usually did. The only pack who's theme warranted more SA animals but didn't deliver was the Tropical pack.
I think it went wrong even before the DLC's. Like it doesn't help that the base game barely has any animals from South-America

It had 1 if we consider the baird tapir has a South American. But yes overall the base roster was Asia-Africa-NA centered. With basically zero unic species of SA, Oceania and Europe... Base roster was very weak. Except if you wanted to do African safari zoo. The DLC helped the representation of all the continents as they made NA, Oceania and Europe pretty nice but since the SA pack it ignored pretty much the richest continent in biodiversity;.. which didn't help.

Most of the problems with the SA roster could have been fixed if tropical was an animal pack and Arid wasn't focus completly in North África.

Oh and if the Zookeeper's pack actually had highly requested species like the coati and a NWM at the very least. And if instead of the african leopard we got the rhea or something like that for anniversary.

Tdlr: Frontier could have done south america justice if they wanted to but they just didnt. If thats for further support, a second game or literally any other reasons, but in a game with allmost 200 animals theres no reason why of all places south america got the shorthand of the stick if it wasnt on purpose. Look i love the europe representation in game and wouldnt give any of them away, BUT its comical that europe and SA got the same amount and that NA actually got quite a few more then South america, eating better on every level with twice the amount of base game animals, 2 scenery packs being atleast 3+ NA animals and an animal pack while getting more scraps from other sources like aquatic, eurasia and grasslands along the way, meanwhile south america got one scenery pack based of it and 3 times 2 more habitat animals and otherwise just scraps of 1 or less

Expanding on this... Imagine:

Tropical as animal pack: adds three more:
  • Coquerel's Sifaka (opens up slot in ZK pack and fits better with the Fossa in the pack already)
  • Scarlet ibis (SA tropical Bird for indoor and outside habitats)
  • Tree kangaroo

Arid as worldwide pack:
  • Exchange something for patagonian mara
  • Exchange something for short beaked echidna

Or add baboon and tortoise in Arid pack and leave slots Open in ZK pack.

Greater rhea for fifth anniversary instead of leopard.

In ZK add coati and new world monkey plus patagonian mara if switched places for Arid.

Even more... Get rid of saiga in Eurasia and put markhor in there and you open up yet another sloth in ZK pack for idk blackbuck or musk ox.

You dont have to touch the tropical pack at all just imagine this:

  • Conservation: cut the redundant leopard, add the lion tamarin as propaply the most well known primate conservation story, heck even cutting the siamang would be fine
  • Twillight: cut the skunk, add the kinkajou, night monkey or any other iconic south american night house resident
  • Grasslands: not south america but it has been bugging me since forever that the wilderbeest isnt the black buck, that alone would have made india green
  • arid: cut rhino, addax/dhamas and either donkey or sandcat and add the peccary, perentie and baboon here
  • anniversary 4: greater rhea
  • eurasia: cut sloth bear and saiga, add pallas cat and markhor
  • zookeeper: add coati and howler and while we are add it the tree kangaroo aswell for a much more ballanced line up of 3 africa, 3 south america and one oceania. Also add the cobra cause duh its the cobra engine and its the littlest of extra to expect from a last pack and that also gives asia a rep
  • anniversary 5: literally anything else then the redundant leopard, heck even the amur leopard would be fine here just not that african disgrace

cuts:
  • leopards (both of them)
  • skunk
  • black rhino
  • addax/dhama
  • donkey/sandcat
  • sloth bear
  • saiga

trimmed the fat of 8 animals and the only one that even stang a little was the skunk

I would not cut the black rhino nor the sloth bear nor wildebeest but that's personal preferences haha and we do need at least a leopard.

But yeah point stands that with a slight re arregement swtiching one or two animals in some packs we could've got more SA and the situation wouldn't be so bad now.

Also unrelated to this but one of the african rhinos should've been in base game and the other come in DLC. They are both such ABC species that both deserve to be ingame but having to wait for both to come DLC was kind of silly.

And the oddballs from basegame had always annoyed me. I'd glad the blue wildebeest came later so we got a high quality model but it should've been in base game instead of the black one. I'm sorry but the black wildebeest is like one of the most dispensable animals in the roster, and on top of that it looks really outdated now.

  • leopards (both of them) - you would get rid of Amur leopard? So we get 0 leopards in the game? 🤔
  • skunk
  • black rhino 😮
  • addax/dhama
  • donkey/sandcat 😮
  • sloth bear 🥺
  • saiga 😑

Oh no, that would get rid of SO MANY of my favorites 😭😭😭
Frankly, from this list maybe the skunk is the only one I wouldn't miss that much. But still, skunks should have their place in this game.

Im sticking with the gun that 3 large spotted cat was good, 4 was acceptable, 5 was defenetly to much.

In a game with the jaguar, the snow and the cloud leopard we dont need standard leopard 1 and defenetly not a second one, especally not when we literally do not have a single one of many other popular groups like ducks, pheasents, rabbits and just in even more like new world monkeys.

Amur leopard was okay, but even then i wasnt a fan at the time but the african is pointless to a point that even surpasses the himalayan brownbear so really nothings lost here besides peoples urge to complete a set
