Elite Dangerous | Powerplay 2.0 exploration and trade balance changes

We have noticed a significant instability in our BGS since this update. In a number of systems, our influence is almost constantly increasing, and it is unfortunate to see that we hardly ever encounter anyone in open play mode, which doesn’t make much difference compared to the old version.
Yours and pretty much every other squadron right now, or should I say every system controller faction.

Maybe the errors should be corrected first! I can neither store suit material on my carrier nor buy or sell it from the bartender! I can store PP material but not take it out.

Does this blue marker mean reaching the point cap?

It means that LYR is making progress on making that system a LYR fortified system, and that without anyone trying to oppose it.

Though I don't think we know yet if there is a diminishing return on effort.

Update on Exploration- Just returned with 55.4 million in all new explored and received 1340 merits. I think I need to take a break.

Frontier did what Frontier always does; see an exception, panic, make the rule match the exception, then remove the exception from being relevant for calculation. And yes, the exploration/ bio payout requirements to reach rank 100, is in the trillions.

I wonder is it due to the profits.

Rares: Low profit, high merits

Explo/Exobio: High profit, low merits

Well, minning seems to be pointless too because it give no merits.
I just sell a full cargo of mined minerals. That should count as a trading with an huge benefits because the base cost of each items is 0. But it cause no merits.
As there no détails also about the control point generated by action. (I do some test I know for sure they are not equal to merits point earned) I'm even not sûre that seling mined product has an impact on exploited system.
I just loose many jours of m'y time doing pointless action ...
Please FDev , hire some compétent game designer who know how to create engaging and fun loop of game play. The problèmes are not the devlopers, but the management and leadership.

Okay, tested a bit more. It seems to be that minerals for acquisition systems still need to be mined in your Power's space; I mined 100 monazite in the acquisition system and didn't get anything, which makes me sad. But hey, that one's on me for not testing it out thoroughly, lol.

So yeah. For reinforcement systems, mine in-system. For acquisition, mine in power systems and sell in acquisition system.

I really hope Frontier can find a decent merit balance and reduce the rank requirements. I'm afraid as things stand, sooner or later only the die-hard fans of PP will remain and we're back to the popularity of PP 1.0.

Currently a new pledge gets all the disadvantages of PP immediately, but only gets to enjoy the full benefits after probably ~750 hours. Getting access to these benefits shouldn't even be the end goal for PP players. Actually doing PP and shaping the galaxy should be.

It looks as if PP isn't meant for casual players to participate.

ED was always a grinding game. It started with credits, it transitioned to materials, it has now gone to merits.
To be fair, the previous examples are a singleplayer grinding towards a certain goal. But PP should be a competition, not a lone player's journey to rank 100. Let them grind against each other! 🤭

Merits aren't just for ranking up.

No sign of any so far, and Frontier did say in a comment somewhere that it was going to be purely linear.

The only cap is that you can't move a system by more than one band (e.g. Exploited to Stronghold or vice versa) in a single cycle. Merits after that add to the hill for the other side to stop it moving, but don't affect the position next week if they don't.

You have to sell the mined goods in the same system it was mined in to get merits. Ive done tihis in an controlled/reinforced system

This is true in a reinforcement system, as I have just tested it as well.
However, this does not seem to be the case in an acquisition system.
I tried this yesterday. The system panel in Galmap indicates that selling mined resources is one of four recommended activities.
Mining in-system gives no merits. Mining in another power controlled system gives no merits either.
Is it because the acquisition system is outside the control range of the system I did the mining in? No idea.

That's a possibility - what happens if you do the mining in the Stronghold/Fortified system which is responsible for the Acquisition?

(That would fit with the rules for many other activities, but be even more annoying than same-system mining requirements: surely this can't be intentional?)

Once the control bar fills for aquire, the extra points are lost. Like hundreds of thousands of points didnt count for next bar. It started on 0 reinforcing.
Though they are still needed if an enemy is pushing. Seems ok that it's to the players if they want to waste effort or not.

Is there a written list of the localised benefits per power?

Like, ALD can give up to 100% bounty bonuses but I'm only rank 4.
If I turn in bounties in a controlled system I get 40% bonus.

I'd like to see a full list of what benefits each territory confers.

How do I find out which system is responsible?
There are 2 fortified/stronghold systems within 30LY of the target system, and neither have any mining resources.
The nearest with any rings is 33LY away. I have just mined a bit there, and I still don't get any merits for selling in the target system.
All the other systems within the 30LY sphere are reinforcement ones.
I can go back to the system I have just mined in, and find out whether there are any acquisition systems within 30LY are try again.
