What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I finished an enclosure for my moose today and I'm quite pleased with the result. At first it was going to be regular enclosure near the entrance but it was a bit too small and I decided to let them trample over the gate and roam the streets, haha 😆
The road and the tunnel are part of their habitat now and they seem to enjoy exploring the concrete world 🫎

lol, I just had to think of the moose test (You still need a car lying on its side or roof as a gimmick)
Does this even exist outside the EU? :ROFLMAO:

Amazing list! 😁 I don't think mine would be half as long. And you pet a swan?! You're brave, they can be pretty dangerous! 🙀

It’s not about the environment but rather that if I make an Australian zoo I will only use species present in Australia. Addax and Scimitar-horned oryx are but dama gazelles and Somali wild ass, for example, are not.
I'm not sure about the wild ass but dama (or rather, addra) gazelles used to be present in Australasia. IIRC Monarto had them in Australia (and Orana Wildlife Park used to breed addra gazelles here in NZ).

And now for something completely different (to what I'm supposed to be building, anyway...)

A small African penguin habitat. Loosely based on the Asian small-clawed otter habitat at Wellington Zoo, which sits just inside the entrance. Though, it's probably more suitable for little blue penguins, but since I've (as usual) chosen Britain for the location, African might be more realistic (then again, there are blue penguins in some British zoos, I believe?).

Continuing to work on the shared habitat of the Indian elephant, Indian rhinoceros, wild water Buffalo, sun bear and Malayan tapir and it ended up finally giving me a new home for the spectacled caiman. The caiman are in a separate habitat, but I went used null barriers and rocks to raise it up a bit so they look like a shared habitat. The foliage all sit on the barrier line.

Only Weymouth Sea Life. The EAZA wants to restart the breeding program for little blues at some point but none have been imported yet.
Well then, whatever my zoo ends up being will be revolutionary in that sense, I guess. The habitat is definitely too small for African penguins (or rather, too small for a large flock). In hindsight I wish I'd started this on the Oceania map and just done a New Zealand zoo but oh well.

Anyway,

I don't know why but I'm super feeling this one. Entrance habitat is little blue penguins, followed by cassowaries. The path heads around to the two islands, one for gibbons (probably siamangs as it's a bit large for lars I think, and then mandrills on the other. On the next layer up will be an oldschool "cage" style pair of habitats for capuchins and probably a binturong (I had initially thought of lemurs, but I haven't built a lemur walkthrough since, like, launch I think, so I might put one in this zoo somewhere).

In essence I'm just going with the Wellington Zoo vibe. It will be hilly. I'm making custom fences and stuff. Heck, I even used the buffalo grass in the penguin habitat.

Oh, and as it stands I haven't actually put any animals in yet but we'll get there.

Here is the progress of my Japan Island Habitats for the Zoolympic Games
Ok I am not 100% finished (about 98%) and I will be away from my PZ laptop until the 22th so I have to wait till then to submit, but for know here are some screenshots of it. It is a build of the Japanese islands Hokkaido and Honshu, as well as a 3rd, mad-up, unnamed, island. Here is the canva link for it.

Hope you enjoy

I stick with the idea of doing a zoo that will cover 75-80% of the biggest map available in game (1000x1000) and including all species in-game + a lot of mods. Yes, I'm crazy. No, I'm not delusional. I will remove the animals from their enclosures every time I will be done with a small part of my park. I hope it will work.
I started the project a few weeks ago and I'm very happy of the way it turns out but I won't share any photos yet. I'm very slow because I'm busy with my work for the moment and I can only play like 4-5 hours/week. The entrance is done and I'm currently working on my Europe zone, starting with a beautiful farm.

I'm currently considering starting over my zoo. I'm struggling with the layout, and may have to shift things around a lot. Besides, there's plenty of unfinished parts that I don't know how to finish and it's all starting to bother me a lot. I'm very happy with a major part of the zoo, but others just don't seem to fit well. I will try to get something done with bulldozing, but not sure anymore if that'll be enough.

That's incredibly funny to see, as I used a similar concepts months ago and never in a million years expected it to come up anywhere else 😂
