Acquisition systems where at least two powers have reached the Conflict threshold. On the map, double white circles with a little crossed-sword on top.
Gliese 4328, for an example this week.
Again much appreciated just found a system nearby to look at, also found some power based convoy stuff but they scarper before i can kill um :ROFLMAO:

Hello, PowerPlay 2.0. I am a daily Horizons 4.0 PowerPlayer. Not your usual sort of customer, I admit - but I thought we might have some sort of future together. Our initial romance was so promising: Levels 1 and 2 were nice and varied. Then it all stopped at Level 3. Why? Because I am disabled by the fact that my Space Legs don't work - and the first hurdle is the need to enter a Settlement and recover data from a Terminal. So that's it? I can get a decal for my ship. Can I not proceed at all to the First Module - because that would at least give me the Option of using PowerPlay 2.0 as I would have in PowerPlay 1.0 and sell my skills to the highest bidder? Yours, bitterly disappointed, and feeling marginalised (again), a long-time Horizons 4.0er.

Ive not done any combat in PP2, are these different from normal CZs? How do you tell them apart?
Not asking for a friend im actually scratching my head :p

They are literally called power combat zone in the nav panel iirc :)

I think they should spawn in contested systems (although they seem to have disappeared from the system where I could see them yesterday, despite the system still being marked as contested on the galmap).

But you can just go to a hazres if you cannot find a power cz nearby. Wanted NPCs pay merits as well - slightly less on average than those cz NPCs, but it's still okay (it seems to depend on the bounty value, it can be anywhere between 10 and 400 merits per ship).

The weekly tasks are optional once you've done the first set, so you can just collect merits any way that takes your fancy in your ship. It is kind of silly to dish out on-foot assignments to accounts that don't own Odyssey, though.

Can you tell me why there are no power CZs in the following system?
(There are regular CZs here because of a conflict between 2 local minor factions, but no power CZs.)

This one is pretty much the only system with the sword symbol on the entire map as far as I can tell.
Edit: nah I've found another one but it's too far away sadly.

selling rare goods was being exploited? i guess i can take 40 pamphlets an hour and still make 100 merits.
for 200k merits this is 2 thousand hours of playtime

sold 550k worth of cartographics, also zero merits
tried delivering trade goods for best profit several times, also zero merits

why do they keep nerfing every single activity instead of just putting an hourly throttle on merits?
might have to give up on powerplay and do stuff with rewards

Cartographics sales are per-system, rather than per-page, and there's a floor on it so cheap systems don't pay out at all.

Map some terraformables/WW/AW/ELW and you should get paid out for those.

Some of those trade good deliveries have location requirements - you have to also buy the goods from specific systems; also note that the profit requirement is 40% so a lot of things with the highest credit profits don't necessarily count.

Can you remember what specifically you sold to where and where you bought it?

No idea - it certainly looks like there should be.
(I guess it's possible that the regular CZs are taking up all the "a CZ could go here" spots in the system already?)

naw, i'll just get in my cutter and mow down pirates/wanted/etc.
i actually was trying to get rear admiral in federation rank while doing powerplay... so i could buy a corvette.
all of the tasks for rank are mutually exclusive from any powerplay that makes merits it seems.
only killing interdictors when doing trade missions might work. going to try that.

Rank is from mission completions, so the only types of those which count directly for merits are the ones in the Support category (in either friendly or unfriendly space). There are certainly mission types that can let you pick up plenty of merits on the way, of course.

Yes - provided that you're in friendly space, any bounty-giving kill will also give merits, and there's plenty of missions with those. So trade enemies, pirate massacres, legal(ish) assassinations. (Don't forget the bonus for scanning ships in friendly space, too, which gets a lot quicker once you've used the missions to get to allied with the controlling faction for auto-scans of their system authority ships)

Megaship scan missions to either friendly or unfriendly space will give merits for the megaship scan.

Odyssey settlement missions of any sort to unfriendly or acquisition space will give an opportunity to upload and steal Powerplay-related items while you're there anyway

I have been helping a PMF for quite a few years now and we had a controlling presence in 5 systems (down to 4 now and presence in a handful of others. We only had above 50% inf in one system regularly, because we were always happy to just keep things ticking along. There was a bit of a diplomatic incident involving a couple of other BGS groups earlier in the year, in which we let one very big group, who take themselves very seriously, take over.

In the main system we operate influence has always been very tightly locked. There's 7 factions in there and we've always sat between 35 and 40%. If you really pushed it you could maybe get up to 45, but it was a real slog and there seemed to be an invisible ceiling around 50%, then it would drop after a couple of days of not pushing. We are very content by this.

A power decided that they would make our system a target apparently, to fortify it with the intention of making it a Stronghold. A couple of weeks after PP2.0 releases with no extra push from us, we jumped up to 76% influence and everyone else under 9%! Now a mere two days later, we're up to 84.6% and we have been pushed into expansion.

We don't want to be in expansion. What happens if the BGS decides to expand us into a system controlled by another PMF who doesn't want us in there? What kind of diplomatic incidents are going to be caused by Powers sweeping through and destroying years of balance and curation?

That is incorrect.

Dont push your faction on the new system and just let it be there. Presence dont cause conflicts so diplomacy is fine.

One suggestion to enhance things for PP2 players: how about a powerplay icon next to the mission destination on mission board lists? (on foot/ship) Just show which power currently owns the destination system, so I can choose to do anti- stuff in enemy systems and pro- stuff in my systems. A tiny logo in the relevant colour would be enough.
