DLC 19 Speculation

My Local Zoo is Birmingham Zoo, so something like this would work

Common Squirrel Monkey
Secretary Bird
Coyote
Southern Ground Hornbill
Black-Footed Cat
Grey-Crowned Crane
Prevost’s Squirrel
(Exhibit Animal) Emerald Tree Boa

Pittsburgh Zoo Animal Pack:

American Flamingo
Canadian Lynx
False Gharial
North American River Otter
Ocelot
Philippine Crocodile
Visayan Warty Pig
Cotton-Top Tamarin (WTE)

If you guys had to bet now, would we get atleast one bird in the next pack? I think so, I hope it’s Latin America then we could potentially get Rhea and Spoonbill/Flamingo
One can only hope. I mean frontier can only go so long adding all sorts of obscure mammals instead of pretty basic birds :D

Jokes aside the fact that we got (in relation to the first 4 ish years) a high amount of birds and the two primates in the last packs makes me kinda hopefull frontier maybe got the message at last.
But then again i can also see them doing the same old, same old 6 carnivoran/hoofstock, guess we have to wait and see

I hope so, but at this point I don’t know. For some reason birds, primates, and reptiles seem to be in this weird rotation. Usually if a pack has one, it may not have one of the others. Obviously Zookeeper (and other packs here and there) breaks that mold, but it’s hard for me to see that while the roster disparity gets worse and worse.

A pack about ZooKeepers not having any birds really feels like where I threw in the towel, I really don’t want to get my hopes up anymore. Shoot, I remember @Birb(。・ө・。)made a post on the DLC discussion thread showing Frontier is even avoiding more commonly held animals in captivity. Those animals being birds. Even ones that would actually work in game, like the grey crowned crane, Rhea, flamingo, and others. The even made the sifaka with incorrect animations over a squirrel monkey, which would have been way better received. They gave us a second leopard subspecies before they even gave us another flamingo and crane. I’m admittedly bitter, but I just don’t know anymore.

So is it possible? Sure. I would love to get even one bird species, but even then that doesn’t feel enough. The roster has issues and I just have to accept that and move on to mods. It’s not like I need Frontier to cater to me and my feathered needs. But I also don’t like feeling I’m actively being ignored either. Shoot, I joined this forum to talk about the bird issues. I don’t know, maybe after all this the next pack might have 2-3 birds. I’m so desperate even if they are “bad picks” I’ll be over the moon for basic representation.

I think I would actually explode. Frontier would take a place known for its wildlife diversity and make it an all mammal pack. Call me crazy, but seeing Frontier release a pack like this would make me way more mad than how botched Barnyard is. Or even how weird ZooKeeper pack could be. I would argue that this pack might even be worse than Arid, even if the South America diversity is more needed.

So realistic that it is actually scary 😂

Also, maybe is time to go back to considering Southern vs Northern animal parks as themes for next year, instead of new vs old world that might sound more problematic.

Southern Animal Pack

1. Tree kangaroo
2. Greater rhea
3. Patagonian mara
4. Short beaked echidna
5. Grey crowned crane / Secretary bird
6. Black howler monkey
7. Perentie / Nile crocodile

Northern animal pack

1. White nosed coati
2. American black bear
3. Musk ox
4. Walrus
5. Great white pelican
6. Mexican spider monkey
7. Blackbuck

Anniversary animal: mallard duck

I really don't think we're going to see the spoonbill.

IMO a pelican feels more likely, if only because it's been popular for far longer and is less dubiously an "open air" bird. The spoonbill falls under the same awkward category as the ibis and secretarybird.

This website has a few members obsessed with ducks but beyond it they don't seem that popular.

Is that a bad thing? 😅 😜

Joke aside i didn't care much about ducks at the beginign outside of the mandarin duck that is one of my favorite birds and i have always wanted it, but i've come to appreciate how useful they would be.

Like muscovy, WFWD, mallard and mandarin duck would do so much for my own projects.

I hope so. I think that they're going to follow te format of barnyard: 6 mammals+1 bird (I would realy like more, but we're talking about frontier). I wouldn't mind the format if the picks they make are good (give some requested ones and throw in an obscure animal, but still wanted to a degree) and the bird is high quality or is a nice addition.

No, people can want what they want (unless it's the kakapo). Personally I'm not super bothered about ducks unless they can act as wild species (so, like the mallard, basically, since I always built where mallards are). But then I'm not super bothered about most of the suggested birds since we can't build very realistically for them anyway, at least not easily. And since I'm convinced we'll get a lot more in terms of birds in the hypothetical sequel, I'm not really worried about missing out in this version of the game, either.
