Elite Dangerous | Nominate Elite Dangerous for the Steam Awards!

After the game crashed (couldn't connect to servers...) several times in the last two days, I don't think so. I'm still seeing bugs and incomplete gameplay mechanisms that I saw 7 years ago.

Spot the correlation between giving FDev money and us getting nice things.

I must be dumb....I've just spent over 15 minutes trying to work out how to vote and cannot work out how.
Yes, I have a Steam Account.
I'm using Firefox Web browser.

Can someone please advise a step by step on how to vote?

If it's obscure, or too hard, then people will just give up.
It might be easy for everyone here who have posted above, but it aint intuitive and I feel the OP should have either linked directly to the voting page, or included a how to.

Thanks
According to https://gameranx.com/updates/id/518786/article/steam-awards-2024-announced/:

"Steam has announced its 2024 Steam Awards. There are 11 categories in total and players can only vote so long as the Autumn Sale is on. That means you have until December 4th. The winners will be announced on December 31st."

The Autumn sale is over, and that probably means that the voting is closed.

Just visit the shop page and scroll down to the Steam Awards part and then you should be good to go from there 🤷‍♂️

Edit: as @Kzak said, sadly it's gone somehow, I can't find it anymore, too... 🤷‍♂️

Pssst.. Technically they didn't "abandon" anyone. As far as I know, the console servers are still up and running. They had to make the difficult choice to stop development or else we might not have a PC version either today. It's a 10 year old game after all. Cheap gaming PC's to run Elite can be had for 200 bucks on ebay. Half the price of a cheeseball

What would you call what they did then ?
Again, if the costs are too high and the game doesn't make a profit then it's either Maintenance Mode or End of Game
  • Apple refused to support the right API and it would have cost too much to rewrite Elite just for the Mac.
  • Although VR is great, how many players actually have it? I'm glad they kept VR in Odyssey at some form but unless there's a massive increase of VR players, it won't get in (Despite my wishes).
  • The console version couldn't run Odyssey at the correct frame rate, and there are Sony and Microsoft rules regarding DLC for games (i.e. must work on all platforms).
  • You're not expected to pay for the new ships, you can get early access if you want them, but (if you have Odyssey) you'll get them for without extra money.
  • Yes, prices have gone up but where are they supposed to get the revenue from to keep this game running?
The last two points are important because Elite is not making the revenue from unit sales, especially after ten years, so if you want continued development on this title; they have to generate cash somehow. It's the brutal reality of running a MMO these days.
The console rule is not true, see Cyberpunk 2077 dlc for proof of that

Greetings Commanders!

Elite Dangerous is hurtling towards it's 10th Anniversary and it has been a truly out of this world journey along the way!

We've had planetary landings, alien invasions, a misguided scientist trying to commit genocide and so much more! With nearly a full decade worth of astounding content, stories and updates we're really proud with all that has come to pass with Elite Dangerous...And more is yet to come!

That's why we're asking for your nomination for Elite Dangerous in the Steam Awards 'Labour of Love' award!
Of course! Already have!

I would call it no further development for weak machines. It happens every day. Does Ford still make parts for the 1977 Pinto? No it does not. Version 3.8 is still playable on console, and will be for the foreseeable future. There is no "console rule" and Frontier is not Projekt Red. Different company, priorities, financial situation, decision making. Nominating is not mandatory and if you don't agree just play Cyberpunk.

Don't see a link to actually nominate.

However, while i do appreciate what FD has done this year, and hope they keep it up going forward, BG3 would get my nomination in this category.

In recognition of your fixing the turreted flak multicrew bug, I've voted for you. Great work, fdev ;)

I am torn on this it has been a good year for elite and I am more optimistic on the game than I have been in a while....
but deserving of an award ?
imo Elite has under achieved for many years in terms of development (only 2 proper expansions since launch and Oddy was an unmitigated mess at launch).
so sure a solid 12 months and the Devs deserve a slap on the back but to suggest Elite has received more developer love and attention than games like no mans sky (and all for absolutely free) is simply not accurate (even tho I prefer elite over NMS as a game)

ED's fanbase is too small on Steam which means too few voters for ED to win anything.

ED has more chance to win a BAFTA.
