DLC 19 Speculation

How many console bundles are remaining? And count 2 more with barnyard/zookeeper and dlc 19/20
Also weird they didnt release a dlc for a recent released game, they did with jwe2 and pz.

Is it actually doing “that bad” though? Like there is also a console player base.
It's probably doing as "bad" as planco1 did, planet zoo always attracted a more noticeably larger playerbase if looking at comparisons on steamdb. Console numbers could easily defeat that argument though. The bulk of the playerbase is these casual players, and they are more likely to play on the console versions with its simplified interface.

Apparently only 20% of PC2 sold copies come from consoles - around 40k. Planet games arent really console thing.
Oh, so not good. I think they should give it more time, but I’ll agree with CaptainCallum. I think PC is even more of a niche market than PZ

As much as ungulate fatigue gets me down in the dumps, they are still cool animals and I am a fan of hoofstock in zoos. I just get sick when Frontier decides to make ungulates a majority of animals added in 2-3 years. In the past two years we got something like 5 antelope species? With 4 of them being from Africa? Shoot, we got almost that same number in pigs alone. Luckily the pigs all had different continents an biomes for the most part.
Pretty much where i stand aswell. Nothing against these animals in anyway shape or form, just with the way i play the game ungulates tend to be pretty boring to build for so i tend to not use them very much, so having so much variety and them being 2/3 of the animals we get these days is kinda ... well i dont wanna say wasted for me but idk what else to say, something i wont get much use of maybe?

So having them as the bulk making up the packs just feels pretty bad to me when the animals id like to see are always treated like second class

I get what you are saying. For me, outside of the “big ungulates” like rhinos, hippos, and elephants. I think a vast majority of ungulate species are fantastic for filling up space and making mixed habitats. If you have a massive open field, and we’re making an American section, why not use the pronghorn and bison?

My big thing is we are now past the “big ticket” ungulates for each continent, and while they are amazing animals, we are now getting more complimentary hoofstock. While nice, it usually ends up being at the cost of everything else (potentially, we don’t know how Frontier decides to make dlc). Still waiting for some of the most basic birds is very frustrating.

It’s great having the Kirk’s DikDik in game, but you know what else would be nice? Getting another basic mixed habitat bird! If we had to go for Africa, a grey crowned crane and Guinea fowl would be great. While every animal is beautiful and amazing, this is a video game. So after awhile of playing with the same “toys” it gets boring. If we got 5 crane species in one year, I could totally see why people would start to get sick of them.

I would say some areas still definitely need more filler ungulates like Asia is fairly lacking on that front, the issue we have is we keep getting the same groups of ungulates: African antelopes, Swine and Caprines, I think most people would be happy if we only got 1 or 2 fairly unique ungulates per pack such as an Indian Antelope or Asian Deer

I don't think so, correct if i'm wrong but I think there's always been more themepark games around than zoo games. So maybe there's more competition. Rollercoaster Tycoon also always seemed more popular than Zoo Tycoon (in my area at least).

Depends if those coaster fans actually moved on from RCT, my comment was more about the noted players from steamdb which planet zoo has consistently been higher than planet coaster (either 1 or 2). For example the release numbers: planet zoo release was met with 38,000 players, and planet coaster 1 - 22,000 and coaster 2 - 20,000.

My dream pack at this point is an Americas pack.

1. American Flamingo
2. Black and Gold Howler
3. Elk
4. Linnaeus’ Two Toed Sloth (WTE)
5. Muskox
6. North American Black Bear
7. Pacific Walrus
8. White Nosed Coati

I honestly could not think of a better roster of animals. .
I can 😜

But it will imply replacing pretty much all the NA species minus the musk ox and maybe the elk for South American species (and the flamingo as well) 😂
