HGE Improvement

So what is the process to find a specific HGE 100% of the time in the first system you jump to that should contain that specific HGE (based on whatever search criteria you are using)?

Dont be silly. It's a game - make it more fun - i.e. reduce the needless waste of time. For example - if you go searching for the other two mat types (Encoded + Raw) the search aspect is guaranteed a find. I think that the Manufactured Mat should be brought in line with the other two mat types - for consistency and time saving. Isn't that the goal of many of the new improvements? I guess you fly without SCO as a purist?
Your suggestion makes me press Like to replies of participants I usually disagree with. Please stop it.... :D

There is nothing more fun with what you propose, and I say this as an anti-nerf kind of guy. Otherwise, in the same spirit, we should suggest the creation of an Arx-purchasable FDev service where authorised FDev employees could visit your premises and play the game for you.

Luckily, it's one more of the cases where I'm glad it's in the suggestions subforum, where all threads come to die.
Please...

I mean that's just gone from silly to nonsense. The fun comes from time efficiency - subjectively in my opinion. Just bring it inline with the other two mat types. Doesn't seem a big deal or too much to ask.

It is now easier than the other two material types. I used to walk uphill both ways (without legs) to HGEs after spending hours trying to find one, then after seeing what they were (and if they even had G5s) scroll through my materials to decide what to delete from a maxed list of materials I would need, to make room for what I needed more. It has already been made much, much easier (and thankfully so), to the point of being trivial. If there is to be any compromise between pull your hair out frustrating and creative mode, we are quickly running out of space between where we are and a creative mode. I say this to give you some perspective as to the pushback you are receiving, and in regards to the suggestion itself, if you have not guessed I do not see any need to make it simpler or easier.

Increase the frequency and proliferation of HGE signals. It's still a very frustrating aspect of the game than can easily be fixed, even when using this 3rd Party website: https://edgalaxy.net/hge
Once this is fixed, then ship engineering will truely be fixed.
Please do not simplify this more!

Instead boost the other material sources to make them viable gameplay choice again.

What you're really proposing is being able to buy materials from commodities markets.

I am not at all proposing buying mats for credits or arx.

What I am proposing is that HGEs be made more prolific, frequent and perhaps even guaranteed upon arrival in a system. Just like they are guaranteed at Jameson, or the list of the raw mat planets people generally visit. Search = find vs search = no find.

Players should absolutely be able to trade ship mats on their FC's imo
Absolutely. Every type of material should be available for trade from other players. But what the OP proposes, is equivalent to buying the mats from the commodities market, if he wants the absolute certainty that System X will have material Y.

Additionally, we've seen the imbalance brought to the spawned mats when players previously asked for "more X materials please, can't find enough to unlock engineer": some mats became more sparse than before. Basically, I don't trust FDev enough to change things without breaking them, because they'll immediately assign the involved devs to other tasks and won't spend the time fine tuning the changes once they break. Rotational bug, anyone? Mat trading? incompetent elite SLF pilots?

No idea I trade for specifics, my criteria for looking for HGEs is am I engineering something are there any in this system and is the ship fitted with collectors. Searching for any one thing is usually too much like work

Subjectively I find time efficiency the enemy of fun in most cases.

I know why they spawn - it's based in certain system criteria per HGE. Still would love to see them more prolific, more frequent, and perhaps guaranteed in systems 100% of teh time that meet those criteria - instead of having to jump to another system or take what ever HGEs I have and cross trade them (a work around to the above).
You don't have to jump to another system. If you check and there are none, go back to the nav beacon. scan it again, super cruise, there will be one. HGEs ARE guaranteed in systems with the right state, the way you make them spawn, is by scanning the nav beacon.

Just allow us to buy the worthless junk, rocks and spam data that is materials with credits, remove the engineers from the game, and allow all modifications at any outfitting station.

Next thing you gonna ask for a free Anaconda for all newbies with long range FSD and Guardian FSD Booster 🤦‍♂️

When I started playing none of us had to do any of this, because engineering wasn't in the game. Was a better time.

Anaconda is a garbage exploration ship btw.

I used to quite enjoy going out in a Diamondback Scout searching for HGE's, or any USS's, and manually scooping up the goodies. It was relaxing to scoop four or five chunks then jump back to supercruise, find the next signal, drop in and scoop, back to the station for refuel and beacon to get the next wave. Since the change that gameplay session has been reduced to one HGE with limpets, normally in my PowerPlay ship as they pop up on the scanner, done. What bothers me is the discrepancy in rewards from HGE's vs other sources. It should've been a flat boost in items dropped in all sources, but lower than the current HGE gold mine.
