Awful TITAN DRIVE COMPONENT Drop rate, like the good old day's, Pre-Engineer drop rate Re-Vamp.

They're rare. Each one unlocks a whole glittering FSD. While you're looking for them there are other things to collect too and the scenery is spectacular. When I play a game I don't wish for it to be over quickly.
And to be fair - you do not need the bestest of the best FSDs on every ship in your fleet. I plan on outfitting ~10 or so of my ships with it, primarily my combat ships (which have no extra slots available for things like FSD boosters and are weighed down with armour so every extra ly helps on those) and exploration vessels. For the average bubble runabout, the extra couple of ly range is fairly irrelevant, since most journeys are 2-3 jumps at most.

damn I should have come on here and offered mine for free. I am out of other mats and didn't want to lug them around. I found 4 in about an HR last night and even left one or 2 behind at a titan (the last one who h fell before the one at Sol)
was safe as well. in over 3 hrs total over multiple sessions I was not attacked once (tho I did set human pods to ignore, only picking up meta alloys and the drive fragments as cargo)

Personally I found they're excellent for exploration and trade ships but don't seem to offer that great an increase on my combat ships.
In other news I now have a bunch of preengineered FSDs, a bunch of SCO FSDs and now a growing collection of preengineered SCO FSDs. This isn't confusing at all... Honest...🤞

I am selling all my non engineered drives

I have some legacy engineered ones which can go in my rarely used ships, my good engineered standard drives in my average ones and my premium vessels will all get premium engineered SCO drives. I am currently 1200LY out ready to fill my bags then will be back to the titans to get some drive components to buy a bunch of lre engineered SCO drives.

See, this is why my dumb idea would have been the best.

In light of how suit and gun engineering works, the engineering overhaul had the opportunity to do the same for ship modules: a g5 module could have 4 mods... so SCO could have been a mod, the 'double engineered' would just be pre-modded, especially since people can buy those, too. It'd give more customization fun times. Yeah, people might be ed they need to re-engineer things, and this would effectively replace the A-E rating system, but. People get mad anyway.

Travelled to pick up meta-alloys from a private carrier, but they showed up as commodities instead of mats. Thought they were mats ... guess not? Need a lot of them to get the corrosive resistant racks, and my small boat ain't got the space for them. Not to mention, I'm sure transporting the expensive things will make me a prime piracy target.

May have to abandon pursuit of this particular drive and settle for what I've got.

Unexpected rewards produce Dopamine surges so they pop up after 1 minute or 300 minutes or none or 3 or- very hamster wheel exciting.
There’s just so much beautiful game in Elite now I can’t spend too much time grinding marginal engineering improvements’ I don’t mind the extra 2 jumps- in normal star densities and I’ll rebuy my fleet carrier if necessary.
now, I did try it for 3-4 hours, destroyed one in the first minutes of one session; was using the cargo scoop because retro fun. The scene was majestic Titan destruction. The caustic sink routine . . . Ok for now. Bit then in the end I realized i sold my caustic resistant cargo modules to make room and didn’t have them unlocked, got them from some event. So really I’d have go do that then come back- well I parked the Cutter and blasted off with the Mandalay instead to find pretty atmospheric planets and alien life that doesn’t want to caustic kill me.
Base Building I will Grind out like a Mine Craft Cultist- good times afoot.

Can you not fit a bit more cargo space in there at all?

I've got a pile of meta alloys sitting on my FC that I'm happy to sell to you at peanuts, and then jump you and your ship to a tech broker system. If it helps, I may even be able to release a spare TDC as well....

I'm parked at a star base in the bubble and can switch out boats if necessary. Too bad there's no way to store commodities on a station. My own FC is out at Beagle Point.

Thanks for the offer. I'll gladly buy them from you.

Okay. You have mail... ;)

just go to one of the destroyed titans and slowly float around . I do wish we had personal off ship storage however. it would be cool to hide our stuff in some secret planetary hidey hole and would mean you don't need to lug around too many valuable items

I am having more problems getting additional Datamined Wake Exceptions

I have yet to receive a single drop from scanning the high wakes near the titans

Turns out, I have to get invited to see ole Professor Palin before I can find and land at Abel Laboratory, so I've got to figure out the grind to that next.
Don't know how to get the invitation, so I've got some research to do.

In the short-term, if you have plenty of other data it will likely be faster to go to a Data Trader and make the exchange to get the mats you need, and then fill things back up afterwards over time.

I've DM'd you this. But, for the sake of redundancy... :p

Bear in mind you only need a corrosion resistant cargo container for the Titan Drive Component. Without one, you will take some minor but continued damage to modules. Provided you have all the other ingredients for the pre-engineered SCO, you could just grab the TDC at my FC and go straight to a Tech broker and unlock the drive. There's one 24Lys from my carrier on Solo Orbiter station in Altair. A very quick trip.
