DLC 19 Speculation

  1. It was never intended to be the last pack, and truly meant to be a fifth anniversary DLC through and through. And the roster and theming was a "Thank you for five amazing years!" thing

  2. It was 100% meant to be the last pack as is - BUT in the last minute, whether it was a higher up, the devs, the King of Frontier, whoever, decided "nah, we gotta keep going" - fueled mostly by the success of the console release

  3. It was meant to be a final, larger pack a la Ghostbusters in PC or Jurassic Park in JWE1, but halfway through they decided, "f**k it, we'll just double our profits and split it in two". Zookeeper's will be the B-team, whereas the next pack will be the heavy hitters - think tree kangaroo, South American monkeys, walrus, you-know-who-with-feathers-but-I-don't-want-to-jinx-it
imo I think this is the most likely option

  4. Who cares we're getting more animals, BABY.
A mix of 2 and 3. Its obvious it was meant to be the final pack I mean come on they have the Frontier HQ in the campaign for god sakes but I think they decided to keep going because they somehow knew ahead of time that Planet coaster 2 might not be the major sucess they thought it would be (and good predictions for them cause they were right) so to play it on the safe side basically as a "fail safe" have a remainder of the PZ team stay back and make another pack for next year because thats a guarantee to make them money.

I say part of 3 because I think they would've wanted to make a large pack with all of the community favourites but couldn't afford the resources and time so they took a handful in one pack and saved the rest for whatever the fail safe pack is releasing this year. I don't think this next pack will be anything more than the zookeeper pack was. No higher price, no extra stuff, no birds, just business as normal.

So they took the worst ones for the final pack but kept the top choices for a fail safe pack?

I think this was a pack that was rushed and put together with what ever they had laying there half baked from previous pack. They will probably were saving them for a final larger pack but decided to split that in two and rushed the first part. That's why half the animals feel unfinished or odd choices. If this was trully meant to be the final pack and those were the animals they picked they sure are as tone deaf to community wishes as they can.

What did I miss? Many pages! I think the rushed fifth anniversary to avoid conflict with planco 2 was a really bad move. And I think zookeeper was meant to be finale dlc but seems frontier still needs planet zoo to mantain. They are not in the best according to you guy mentioned in the last report and how badly performed planco 2, sigmar and f1. Let hope frontier will recover but this year needs a big miracle.

They are gonna give us more animals with weird fur/ half-baked animations before we ever get any of the basic bird clones.
  1. Black swan
  2. Trumpeter Swan
  3. Greater rhea
  4. American flamingo
  5. Chilean flamingo
  6. Whooping Crane
  7. Congo peafowl
  8. Red jungle fowl
  9. Southern rockhopper
  10. Gentoo penguin
There are a number of almost 1:1 bird clones that require little changes and would be relatively well received. If you want to go even a little further, waterfowl, pheasants, and others could also be added.

I’ll admit after vacation I haven’t played Planet Zoo in a month, I kind of fell out with it again. The idea that I’m gonna wait for months and Frontier is gonna give me some sort of tree kangaroo without certain animations, or a howler without any howling, or a musk ox with not great fur, doesn’t get me as excited. I know as a bird person I complain a lot, but if Frontier could throw us bird people a bone I would be happy. We still need a lot of basic birds, even clones will still be appreciated.

I’m sure when the dlc comes out I’ll come around to it, and maybe with current pressures there can be more effort than I’m currently thinking. It’s just, I want a dlc even if it has no birds, to feel different and feel like it had effort.

Onwards, I'd be looking out for a coastal and East Asia DLC. The former would be popular with almost everybody, and the latter has some cool options with wide appeal plus high appeal to a chunk of the playerbase that could use some attention.
On top of a return to South America, the Coastal and East Asia dlc ideas are some of my most favorites. In a perfect world I would get something like this:

Latin America/ South America 2 electric boogaloo
  1. Black Howler Monkey
  2. Squirrel monkey or white faced saki
  3. White nosed Coati
  4. Patagonian mara
  5. Greater Rhea
  6. Tropical duck species, preferably a whistling duck but I’ll take whatever I can get
  7. A reptile, either our first habitat turtle, red footed tortoise, or tegu
  8. Exhibit: give me a red belly piranha
Coastal DLC:
  1. Walrus
  2. Sea otter
  3. South American Sea Lion
  4. Great White Pelican
  5. American flamingo
  6. Gentoo/ Rockhopper penguin
  7. Either a puffin, or a sea duck if easier
  8. Exhibit: either hermit crabs, or give me some clownfish/ other fish species
East Asia DLC:
  1. Golden Snub nosed monkey
  2. Peere David’s deer
  3. Muntjac deer
  4. Golden pheasant
  5. Mandarin duck
  6. Chinese alligator
  7. Pine martin
  8. IDK either an exhibit animal or more decorations
All in all I would be pretty happy.

How would yall treat this pack-
Pacific pack:
American Black Bear
Wapiti / Wild Turkey
Sea Otter / Walrus
North American Porcupine
California kingsnake Ex
Native Scenery
The bear and porkypine do nothing at all for me, but the other animals would be great.
But what really would sell this for me is the scenery set. NA has a ton of unique and popular build sets that it's criminal we haven't gotten any.
Spanish Mission/Adobe/Log Cabin/Wild West/Boston Colonial/Southern Plantation/or any variety of Native American themes - we really should have at least 1(I would argue 2) of this list in game, so adding any of these build themes to the game would be the deal breaker for me.

Since African leopard had been confirmed along with spectacled bear, American black bear's the next most wanted so all eight bear species (there were two brown bear subspecies) will be in Planet Zoo. Walrus and sea otter are my secondary.

I would want it to be 7 animals and scenery, just because as a NA shill if I seriously get another NA pack an no bird for my continent I would have a stroke.
At this point I think the barnyard/zookeeper format is what we will get going forward so I personally wouldn't expect an exhibit animal.
I would appreciate the scenery but instead of the focus being entirely on North American animals I feel East Asia could get some attention with some sort of 'temperate' pack.
1. American Black Bear
2. North American Porcupine
3. Pere David's Deer
4. Mandarin Duck
5. Golden Pheasant
6. Wild Turkey
7. North American River Otter
+ Native American Scenery

North american arboreal porcupines are super cute.

I really like it.

How about final pack with 8 habitat animals 2 exhibit animals + native and colonial building sets 😃

ABB
Wapiti
Sea otter
Brown pelican / Roseatte spoonbill
South american coati
Patagonian mara
Greater rhea
Howler monkey

Ex: alligator snapping turtle + green anaconda

Yeah they are. But we already got a porcupine in game, and I'm good with the one.

I would love it - even tho I'm not super excited about some of your animal choices.
But I'm thinking that is probably getting closer to $20 worth of content. Frontier really likes the $10 range. I think they went up to $15 for PC final DLC, but I don't see them going past that for PZ. From looking at past DLCs, it appears that a full 200-ish build set is roughly half a DLC($5 worth). So the list you gave would be a full $20. Gotta knock down some animals.

Perhaps a 7 habitat or a 6+1 would work with a double build set as $15?

Personally i still think a temperate pack would be pretty cool as a mirror to the tropical pack.
So a scenery set with a mix of native american stuff and logcabin/camping with 2 fitting animals like the bear and porcupine for example, than throw in two more animals from around the world like muntjac and mandarin for example with tuatara as the exhibit.
Sadly scenery packs seem to be gone for good, so this aint happening

I would love a good log cabin set! The kind of “forest” or “campground” scenery is up their with educational pieces as my most wanted themes/ props.

i feel like wasting time on speculating is useless especially as we all know we are waiting until spring timeo_O

Option C 100% they brought hamadryad's, Palla's, spectacled bear, markhor, spurred tortoise then brought their own favorites out

Soo... where is GSNM 🤩🤩
