DLC 19 Speculation

In regards to what y’all said
Yes it seemed very likely that zookeeper was the final dlc as park manager was the miscellaneous dlc for jwe2 before they pulled the plug
Perhaps frontier realized how there’s still a strong fanbase that would pay for more so perhaps they will have a small team set up to figure out to to earn our money

2024 despite having 2 dlcs showed a brand new dlc format in the form of 7+ some build. I would have preferred an exhibit or WTE to be included.
2023 was about regions
2022 was about biomes and unique themes

Maybe 2025 is gonna have a new format?
I’m hoping for animal type dlcs

Personally i still think a temperate pack would be pretty cool as a mirror to the tropical pack.
So a scenery set with a mix of native american stuff and logcabin/camping with 2 fitting animals like the bear and porcupine for example, than throw in two more animals from around the world like muntjac and mandarin for example with tuatara as the exhibit.
Sadly scenery packs seem to be gone for good, so this aint happening
Where can i sign up for this?
Only slight qualm id had would be that while muntjac and an asian bird like mandarin duck or a pheasent would be great and tuatara as exhibit is literally perfect, id really like to see something else from temperate australia. Be it a common brushtailed possum, another wallaby like parmas or swamp, short beaked echidna or maybe another bird like cape barren goose would all just be very neat.
While i know that the animal id actually kick out would defenetly be the black bear, but after we got the wisent and wild boar i feel like we europeans cant complain about the black bear to much

Honestly I would love a temperate pack, I think covering as many continents as possible would be the best thing to do.

  1. American Black Bear I totally get people being hesitant to it, but at this point might as well get the last bear. As others have stated, pretty important for NA zoos. Wouldn’t exactly be my #1 choice, but NA is a big market.
  2. Hot take, for waterfowl I would pick the wood duck. This is because I think Asia should get a different bird (you can probably already guess), and the wood duck is still common in NA and in zoos around the world.
  3. For Australia, the highly requested echidna would be great. This would also give us our last monotreme, so that’s cool.
  4. I want some hoofstock, and for that Asia should get the muntjac which is an animal that is incredibly common in captivity and I am shocked it is not in game yet.
  5. Here is the Asian bird, what a shock, it’s the golden pheasant. I got nothing else to add, it is also a bird that I think should have been in the game way sooner.
  6. For the last temperate environment I want to do the Pampas of South America, so expect a Greater Rhea and
  7. A Patagonian Mara
So give us a log cabin set, and if I can push the limits a bit more some educational pieces too. While we would lose a great exhibit animal, we would get reps from 4 continents.

One other benefit is in this pack you immediately get two different interspecies enrichment in the Rhea and Mara and muntjac and pheasant.

Beautiful pack. 10/10

Even after getting most of its bigger stars in Conservation, Oceania, and to a lesser extent (for me) Eurasia and Twilight, I still think a temperate pack would go crazy hard, mainly for the bird potential.

Echidna, mara, tuatara, giant salamander, rhea, a landfowl species (turkeys, pheasants, there are literally so many options) and a waterfowl, hell maybe even a stork or a second crane. I've said before that the muntjac is probably one of the only ungulates left I'd actually be excited by, and that still holds true. I know there's also quite a few people who still want a tanuki, and (although not really my cup of tea) one of the larger Asian deer species. If anything I feel like there are too many good options to the point I'd take two temperate packs. This could really be a banger if Frontier plays their cards right.

Also, I know everyone loves to talk about the black bear as one of NA's last essentials - and don't get me wrong, I'd like it too - but let's not forget that North America doesn't have a single bird. Like none. At all.

Oh yeah and there's also whatever the hell this thing is. I've been becoming a big fan of this thing lately.

It actually makes me upset that of everything for NA to this day we still don’t have a bird. Like I get it, haha, Frontier hates birds. But the complete neglect of any new world species is absolutely ridiculous.

I would love to make a local zoo in vanilla Planet Zoo, but I have to use mods, as we have 0 birds and that just doesn’t jive with me.

It’s not like there are no options that can’t work with planet zoo as is, there is plenty.
  1. Domestic turkey or wild turkey
  2. Sandhill crane
  3. Whooping crane, a cool conservation story
  4. Like, over 100 waterfowl options. Just so many, North America is the land of cooky ducks
  5. Prairie chickens, for another cool conservation option
There are even a handful that I would argue could work in current Planet Zoo, but might need a bit of tweaking or suspension of disbelief
  1. Puffins, any of the three species
  2. Roseate spoonbills
  3. Wood storks
  4. Roadrunners
  5. Burrowing owls
These 4 might need some perching features, among other things

Your mention of the roadrunner got me thinking about a looney-tunes Animal Pack, but a couple of them have already been added so it probably wouldn't work:
  • Roadrunner
  • Tasmanian Devil(already in game)
  • Skunk(already in game)
  • Rabbit/Hare
  • Mallard/Wood Duck
  • Coyote
  • Prairie Chicken - Golden Pheasant probably not too much of a reach here

Well we do have the chicken/rooster as well.

A temperate pack would play really well with people so long as it weren't a final pack. There's still plenty of options for a strong/interesting (and reasonable in terms of resources!) for a 7-species habitat roster.

If you forego the exhibit species you could always work in some scenery (e.g., new wallset plus some general NA national park and indigenous people themed scenery items would work).

Well, they've already told us that we'll be getting an Animal pack so you don't need to worry about that aspect of it all. Haha. Personally, I'm not anticipating a change to the current format unless they wind up going for a bigger final pack...

Opting for the 7-habitat species plus scenery items is a compromise they made to accommodate fewer packs in a year while also giving the builders something new to "chew on." It's not my ideal scenario but it's a reasonable one! So I'm not expecting any sort of change.

This roster is pretty cool in a vaccum! Haha. I'd definitely take this as a "second to last" pack.

Considering ZooKeeper isn’t the last pack I don’t know what could ever feel like a “last pack”. Unless we got birds.
I feel like "birds" would signal more to come, TBH. I don't think they'd bother adding a feature like that and then dipping after one DLC... What I meant was that I'd like this pack in general. But it would be utterly disappointing as a "final" pack.

I do think there's still capacity for a pack to really feel final, though! Mostly any other general/generically themed pack with worldwide animals that are highly requested and presumably a free update feature or two that has been highly requested and/or would really open up creativity (e.g., scenario maker, null signs, null exhibit boxes, scaling). And yeah, a pack that is bigger than usual would signal that as well...

And, I mean, they could always just drop a Zookeeper 2 pack. LOL

I was thinking more along the lines of actual Prairie Chickens, which have a great conservation story.
Can't really do much for replacements for the Skunk or Tazzie though.
Honey badger and ferret? Fiesty and smelly. Which is what i think of if i think of tassie devils and skunks respectively.

Doing something similar to what zookeeper did, with one to three top ten picks, two or three top 30, and the rest in the 50 range, I made this.

Pacific Walrus
South America Coati
Secretary Bird
North American Black Bear
Black Buck
Greater Rhea
Black Howler Monkey
(Exhibit Animal) King Cobra or scenery

As much as I'm clamoring for more Latin American mammals, I'd gladly give up all my remaining mammalian wants for some flying medium and small sized birds. Gladly. Even a second New World Monkey.
