Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Big Tony gets to stretch out today and do some work, loading Tritium into the carrier. I'm stocking up, planning to leave the bubble again for a while.

I decided to take one last look at the Titan Cocijo before heading out into the black. There's nothing there but wreckage and a bunch of AX Pilots (NPCs) chattering away. I spent a bit of time looking through the various materials. I picked up a few, but there was really nothing much there. I don't have any plans to swap out any of my current FSDs anyway, so no big deal to me. Even if I do at some point get SCO drives for any of them, I can live with normal ones. I like the one on my Cobra MKV, that's probably all I'm going to be using anyway.

Nothing but debris over Earth now:

Well, I took my first long SC excursion using the SCO. The planet I wanted to look at was 347kls away. Woo, boy, did that fuel gauge take a bashing! Of course, I had to do the loop of shame. Twice.

So, was the planet worth visiting? Tectonicas, so not too shabby!
Ditto but nearer to home, decided to pay a visit to the Voyager probe for the first time today. Nice smooth SCOtastic run in a Mandalay, just took a few minutes. I'd fitted some extra fuel tanks to be on the safe side, burned about half of it.

Which ship did you use for your excursion?
Mandalay. My new fave rave :D

Decided to head home from my holiday in the black.

Got a fair few first discos but they were mainly in M class systems so not a lot of exciting stuff. Found a few tectonicas' to boost the coffers and I'm really only going to grab high value exo's from now on; without trying to sound like a flash git, I don't need the rank anymore but I'm forward-thinking about colonisation and the possible outlay for that.

Just looking at my Codex stats and it seems I've hyperspaced 594KLY's * . If I was string that all together into one jump, I may have made it to another galaxy :D

* Which, I'm sure, is peanuts compared to the hardcore explorers,

What ship were you in? My Cobra V will do that on about half a tank... it's amazing for buzzing around stations looking for suits/weapons because you can zip over to places that are being completely ignored by other players 😹

Well the Large Magellanic Cloud is 155kLy, the Small Magellanic Cloud is 199kLy so a return trip would be on*, but the nearest galaxy is Andromeda which is 2.5 million Ly.

* If there was a suitable star bridge.
It does make one hanker for that old intergalactic star drive that was available in the original Elite... still, one mustn't grumble at 400 billion stars.

I wonder what Brian Cox (the physicist) would make of a trip on my SC bridge. To be honest though, I'd rather have Seven of Nine on there, or possible Councillor Troy. No offence Brian. And I'd bet a billion credits Ellen Ripley would rather stay at home.

I'm sorry, it's late and I'm rambling. Night all!

And I'm still undecided on the whole PP an pledging malarky.

Honestly, I don't think there's a down side. I don't get pestered by ships from other powers - I think you basically have to go and attack their carrier or mess with their stations to provoke a response.

If nothing else, I get a some materials in care packages a few times per week and it nudges me into gameplay I might not otherwise have bothered with 😸
