Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

It's the attention to detail and amount of care and attention that sets SC apart from other games...

Apparently now it is not enough for critical posts or comments to simply start said posts or comments with the thoroughly memed "Let it be clear that I love Star Citizen and want it to succeed, but...".

Now you have to prepare a full 8 minute video for that.

8 minutes on YouTube is the minimum to insert ads in the movie. Otherwise it's just before/after :)

Spectrum being quite salty at the moment (well, its been so for a while).

Here's a fun one:

Thing is, people say Spectrum is not representative of the community. However, at the end of the day, its the most official SC forum there is, and its paywalled (you have to have bought a package to post there), so there's not the usual number of bad faith actors who might join the forum just to cause trouble, unlike say the SC sub on reddit.

Every single poster there has bought at least a base package and is invested, and if you fully refund, they delete your account, so anyone who gets out, doesn't post there either.

Its about as representative as you're going to get, white knights, disappointed backers, the full range.

Yep. And with all that, it sure does tilt towards disappointment...

Current top post ;)

I'm just sticking this here because it sums up a dull phenomenon in a fun way ;)

Pyro missions are broadly borked...

(Everytime I dropped in on this guy's stream today it was another variation on 'this one doesn't work either'...)

If he'd tried cargo missions, he may've found them equally patchy...

A lot of cargo mission still not working. And there are more of them. For example quest "Deliver 0/429 SCU of Hydrogen to Riker Memorial Spaceport." was working yestarday but suddenly stopped working last night (cargo not being delivered) and continues to not work.

It's only really fun when the wheels fall off though ;)

Off topic, but this clip instantly reminded me of a time I was out in my SUV on the other side of the galaxy. I was in camera mode looking out of my SUV and all of a sudden a wheel started rolling away from me... my own wheel!...... WTH! Quickly getting out of camera mode, I realised I had parked too close to a little lava spout and the gradual heat build up had exploded my poor little SUV. No doubt all sorts of alarms had been going off, but I was in camera mode, oblivious.

You live and learn.

That post has just been dethroned, here the top Spectrum post at the moment:
Error 3221225477 Orison. Character repair lorville. 3221225477 for another two days straight BIOS solutions dont work, DNS, fresh installs. 12 years old elevators, freight elevators, and shuttles still completely break regularly, locking players in place. 12 years.

I regret ever installing this trash or giving this development team a chance or my money. Absolutely shameful and embarassing.

Another good one

I mean its alpha. I am not sure what people expect out of an alpha game. Yeah its been in alpha for a loong time, but they kept changing their goals and expanding the scope to try to give the players everything they wanted. I log in occasionally to see what progress is being made then go do something else. It really has come a long way. It will be ready when its ready. It really baffels me that players think a game that is still in alpha should play like a finished product. There are too many good games out there to sit and cry about it. Go do something else and check back in after a major patch. It will save you lots of stress. I really think they need to birng in someone to have a clear defined vision, not keep adding more stuff that ends up breaking systems.

Hmm... i can't seem to find that part in the book about good project management or software development practices.
