New player - Beam Eye Tracker + Opentrack

Hi all,
New to Elite Dangerous.
I have the Epic Store version. Installed this week.
I have Beam Eye Tracker which works in tandem with OpenTrack.
Head and Eye tracking works with other games (MSFS, SW squadrons, ETS2, ATS).

I’ve tried various suggested fixes, but when I start Elite Dangerous there’s no headtracking or eyetracking at all.

I’ve disabled my AV but no change.
Running BET and OT as admin makes no difference.

The Beam Eye Tracker dev has tested his installation, but it’s working ok for him.
It looks like Opentrack isn’t recognising the game (Opentrack shows “Unknown game” on its title bar. It shows the game title for working games).

Does anyone have any thoughts on what I’m missing here?

Thanks

I use AI Track to pass the head movement to opentrack over UDP, this is with a Webcam but if Beam is seen as a camera it should work.
It is very smooth, as good as my now deceased TrackIR.
The Webcam I use: NetumScan+Full+HD+1080P 60fps from Amazon
AITrack: https://github.com/AIRLegend/aitrack

Thanks.
Yes, I know it should work, but it doesn’t.
Beam is working outside the game.
Opentrack is working outside the game.
The game is not recognised by Opentrack and/or the game is not recognising Opentrack.

That's why I think you need AITrack to pass the movement to Opentrack. Opentrack would not work on it's own for me either with Elite.
Here is how I have AITrack and Opentrack configured:
AITrack tracks your head movement then passes it to Opentrack, Try it trust me it works well once you have your curves set up in Opentrack

Thanks.
I am using Beam Eye Tracker which works in the same way as AI track.
Beam is passing its input to OpenTrack and Opentrack is registering head movement, but nothing happens in the game.

Are you using the Freetrack protocol in Opentrack, Elite is coded to accept Freetrack

Yes. Freetrack 2.0.
As long as gaming extensions is turned on in the Beam software and Eyeware Beam is selected as input to Opentrack and Freetrack 2 as output It should just work.
Try turning off Mouse headlook in Options>controls>Ship controls, If that doesn't work I am stumped.

Thank you.
I appreciate your help.
Yes, even the Beam dev was stumped.
I’ve tried turning off mouselook. No change.
I found one line in opentrack troubleshooting - Install opentrack into a drive root (which I arlready done).

Try running both Beam and opentrack as administrator

what version of the game are you running as there may be various elite exe's in the products folder sub directory folders that need to be set to run as admin

Thanks.
I tried running BET and OT as admin. No dice!
Apparently I’m running Elite Dangerous: Odyssey 4.0.0.1904

ok but you need to ensure the game exe is set to admin also as well as BET and OT
like you say its working with other games so just ensuring the game correct exe is set to admin and the device should be detected
for eg my game exe's are stored in this location but yours may differ C:\Users\STRONTIUM DOG\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products

(anti virus should be temp disabled when diagnosing)

AV on or off makes no difference.
I did try to have all 3 (BET and OT and game) set to admin, but the Launcher failed to launch the game with an error message.
I only have one elitedangerous64.exe which is installed in a secondary drive K:/EliteDangerous/Products/some long name.
I also installed a legacy version, but it was the same.

Thanks for all those of you who tried to help. I really appreciate your efforts.

I’m going to give up on this for now. I switched to a HOTAS this afternoon (T Flight Hotas One - yes, I know!) and completed the initial training missions.

To be honest, as an old guy, the spinning and movement was pretty gut churning without headtracking and I had trouble enough with the combat missions just trying to keep the targets on the screen!

I had a real issue with headtracking in Star Wars Squadrons. It works as expected, but I find I get hugely disorientated in combat.

I really like headtracking in MSFS which of course is much slower paced, but even then I sometimes have to switch it off.

If I do subsequently find a solution I’ll post it here for future seekers.

Thanks again everyone!
