Elite Dangerous | Trailblazers coming 26th February

The 10Ly colonisation range isn’t even in the game yet so can’t go.
I concur.

They're releasing a new feature, and its a fairly significant feature at that, as it is going to have the ability to change the very landscape of the Galaxy. Literally...

They know that.

This is a "live" "beta" in the sense that they are putting limits and constraints on it, think of it like training wheels on a bicycle, while they test it out.

Once the players come into contact with the feature and begin manipulating it, FDev will begin to collect data...and they will use that data to make decisions.

Plus its easier for the players to deal with any issues closer to the bubble rather than out in the sticks, so to speak. Time wise, Its cheaper...

After they test it, I presume that they will begin to relax the limits (they've alluded to that) back to what ever they think are "reasonable". We will receive the changes...

Also, we haven't yet received all of the information. Paul has responded twice since his OP to say exactly that.

I await Trailblazers with anticipation. I'm having a blast in Powerplay. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

There’s a lot of complaining about bugs here—sometimes it seems like some people play just to find them. Of course, they exist, but they don’t really affect gameplay, and, for example, not being able to earn a few hundred points in PP is insignificant. I think that due to the initial complaints and criticism of Odyssey (low FPS, high hardware requirements, etc.), we ended up losing VR support in Odyssey.

I’ve been playing Elite since the first version, and many of you know what the graphics were like back then—there basically weren’t any. Yet no one complained about it or about shading bugs. 😛 These issues can’t be that bad if we’ve been playing for so many years.

The two things I really want to know are:

1. Is the first station you build in a system a large station or a small outpost

2. Will colonisation beacons only be available from large stations.

It's only good for a handful of old players. Maybe you don't need Colonization either.

They've already stated that, the first station will be a large station, an Orbis or something, only then will you be able to build outposts. Also planetside you must build a large settlement first and then can put smaller ones around. But as with everything, details already posted may change, but I doubt if this one will.

The colonisation beacon will be available from the first station you build, which must be a large one!

So no, you can't quickly build a small outpost just to get the beacon seller if that was your idea.

I just thought of something (though probably not new), it would be cool if a PVP encounter auto-spawned a system wide combat POI. Then we could all drop into it and watch, or get ganked. I'm sure it will be one of the two..
Some time ago I made a suggestion, why not make it possible for players to send an SOS signal to be visible throughout the system.

Pretty sure these are answered in one or more of the Q&A threads and the recording of the stream.

Full sized station.
2. Will colonisation beacons only be available from large stations.
No.

Note my memory is imperfect and easily confused by forum noise.

Are you merely being ageist or has your translator mixed up age with time spent playing?

I don't really get it.
I've been playing since 2015 and if asked what I choose: fixing graphical and other bugs in the game or introducing a new feature that will likely add more bugs.
I will always answer that fixing bugs, as I still play the game and want to continue it in the future.

Good!
So not an age thing a time in game thing.

Hi :)

Given that use of the Galaxy Map is going to be critical for system colonisation, I really hope they fix the issue with the map forgetting the filters, for me it's the most frustrating bug at the moment: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/67503
I agree, I've also noticed a few other minor annoyances , when you click on a system on the Galactic Map you've previously discovered it sometimes takes an age for the system to be revealed in the System Map. I've also experienced the System not being accessible at all sometimes. If I close the game and go back to that same system again later it will usually show up correctly.
I usually bookmark any interesting systems I've discovered, and I've unfortunately deleted some (in the past) as I thought at the time I must have just bookmarked that system as a waypoint, and not actually scanned the system. I eventually cottoned on that the above was happening, so I'm very wary / careful about deleting system bookmarks now, for obvious reasons!

Jack :)

I've had a similar experience. Not too long ago I was looking through the bookmarks I kept for all the ELWs I've discovered, and was really annoyed that I no longer had access to the System information for them.

At some point I left one of the systems on the map selected long enough that the System icon finally activated.

Video by CMDR Mechan about Trailblazers.

He said first-come first serve is a frustrating mechanism for claiming systems. There are other ways to have a fair chance to claim a system beacon such as auctions, lotteries, provide an opportunity to have a fair chance to claim it.
